Chuncheon Art Festival
Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

Even though the mottos were unfamiliar when they started, the Chuncheon Art Festival has been held in August for the past 11 years under the mottos of 'Voluntary participation' and 'Talent Donation'. The festival grew from 'Chuncheon Dance Festival' in 2002, where all of the staff and performers participated for free and like today didn’t charge for visitors to view their performances. The festival used to be held in Chuncheon Children's Center until its 10th year when it moved the venue to the Festival Theater Momzit (축제극장몸짓), which allows a wider range of programs from indoor performances to outdoor movie screenings and workshops. Since a lot of artists' shows are of a high level, the festival has become known as one of the best summer festivals in Chuncheon.

Samcheok Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival
Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Samcheok Full Moon Festival is a festival that blends Gijuldaligi, a local Samcheok-si play, together with three ancestral rites for the gods of heaven, agriculture, and the sea. The festival includes a range of traditional activities including fireworks, a celebration ceremony, gilnori (parade), pungmulnori (Korean drum performance and dance), burning daljip (bundle of twigs that is burned to bring good luck), local dialect contest, yutnori (traditional board game), ssireum (wrestling) and many more. The gijuldaligi (tug-of-war) contest has become a popular traditional activity, and is now held throughout the country. The festival is held at Expo Square, not far from cultural tourism spots including the exhibition hall of caves, Jukseoru Pavilion, Haesindang Park, and Hwanseongul Cave. * Giljuldarigi (gejuldarigi; ge means "crab") In this version of tug-of-war, participants on the either side each hold on to smaller ropes linked to a thick rope, and pull the small strings that are linked to the thick strings. Participants are divided into two groups based on where they live in proximity to Osipcheon Stream, which through downtown Samcheok. The game’s legend said that the winning village areas would receive a prosperous year, a big catch, and have luck throughout the year.

Divided into four areas (Mungyeong, Gaeun, Maseong and Nongam), the Mungyeong Special Tourist Zone is a charming place to relax and experience a variety of activities in nature. Here visitors can find attractions such as the Mungyeong Hot Springs, Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park and the KBS Film Set. The Mungyeong area is home to Mungyeongsaejae, a mountain pass connecting Mungyeong City and Goesan County. During the Joseon period, Mungyeong Saejae played an important role as the gateway in and out of Gyeongsang Province. Saejae, meaning “bird pass,” refers to “a pass so high and steep that even birds find the crossing difficult.” The Mungyeongsaejae-gil road inside Mungyeongsaejae Provincial Park is well developed and suitable for hikers of all ages. Here, visitors can appreciate the lush forest and the fall foliage in autumn. There are three gates along the pass: Juheulgwan, Jogokgwan, and Joryeonggwan. Collectively, they are known as Mungyeong Gwanmun (Mungyeong Gateways). Near each gateway, there are areas where hikers can stop and take a rest. There are also hiking trails leading to nearby mountains such as Juheulsan Mountain and Tanhyangsan Mountain. The nearby Mungyeong Hot Spring is perfect for unwinding after a long hike. The SBS Film Set and the Mungyeong Coal Museum are located in the Gaeun area just south of Mungyeong. Daeyasan Mountain and Yongchu Valley are located nearby and the area has plenty of accommodation facilities for tourists and hikers. Mungyeong rail bike, which departs from Gaeun Station and Gurang-ri Station, is also popular. Popular summer destinations such as Ssanyong Valley and STX Resort are located in the Nongam area. Many companies visit this place for corporate training sessions and team building activities. Sunset (Ilmol) Hanok is located in Waon Village in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province. Its proximity to Waon Beach, a famous site for sunset watching, and the unspoiled tidelands of Suncheonman Bay make the pension a great healing place. An hour-long mountain trail winds through the hills surrounding Waon Village, and a four kilometer-paved road network offers opportunities for jogging or biking. The Sunset Hanok takes the form of a ㄷ-shaped “hanok” with a grass lawn at the center. Stepping into the courtyard brings one to a view of the expansive tideland beyond the tiled clay fence and the mountains surrounding the village. There are three Korean-style floor bedding rooms and a bedroom in the house. Nangman and Haengbok, with traditional “gudeul” floor heating, offer a great view of the scenery and the sunset from the comforts of the rooms. The Sarang and Hwamok rooms use wood-fired heating, which offers great warmth during the winter season. Hwamok, in particular, is spread out between the main building and the “anchae” (inner chamber), combining a bedroom and a wide floor-heated Korean-style room suitable for large groups. All rooms in Sunset Hanok are equipped with a kitchen sink, induction stove, refrigerator, and cooking utensils, and there is also an outdoor barbeque area for guests. Gokjeongjae House

Gokjeonjae is built in the architectural style used by wealthy rural families found in the Yeongnam and Honam regions during the late Joseon period. In terms of the house's structure, the Munganchae (servants' quarters), Sarangchae (men's quarters) and Anchae (women's quarters) are arranged in a straight line, and surrounded by a 2.5m-high cobblestone wall based on the concept of a gold ring. Due to the academic value of the unique architectural techniques used in building it, the guest house has been designated as a local cultural heritage. The exterior maintains the traditional hanok's style while the interior is equipped with modern conveniences. One room can accommodate six to eight people, suitable for families. The red clay Ondol (traditional Korean floor heating system) is similar to a sauna as the floor is heated with firewood.
