Gyeongsangbuk-do(Bonghwa-gun)

Cheongoksan Recreational Forest (800m in elevation, 청옥산 자연휴양림) is located in Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do. 100-year-old pine trees brimming with pinecones, along with younger pines and larches, surround it. On Cheongoksan Mountain (1,276m in elevation) in the Taebaek Mountain range, you can see the trees standing tall amidst the majestic rock formations. If you walk along the mountain trail, you will come to a bridge, and after crossing, you will enter a section of forest that has maintained an old, almost primeval, feeling. In spring, beautiful wild flowers blossom throughout the forest, magnolias in particular, bloom within the valley. Cheongoksan Recreational Forest features a variety of facilities such as a nearby water park, children’s playground, fitness center, campsite and an outdoor lecture field. The water in the water park is cold and very clean, using natural stream water. In nearby Baekcheon Valley, you may also be able to see Manchurian trout, which live in clean, fresh water streams. Hyeonbulsa Temple is also located in Baekcheon Valley.


Gangwon-do(Hwacheon-gun)

Located just 4km away from Hwacheon-eup, Ddansan Mountain is nestled between Paroho Lake and the entrance to Peace Dam, making it appear more like an island floating on the water rather than a mountain. Soyang Hanok Stay was created by transporting three 180-year-old hanok houses in Gochang and Musan that were about to be demolished to the current location in 2010. The houses were repaired by a master craftsman for three years in the traditional methods, and still reserve the unique beauty of traditional hanok houses. There is a total of eight guest rooms. Seohyeondang has an ondol room with red clay walls and floor. It has a bathroom and a small space where guests can enjoy a tea ceremony. Gahuidang is furnished with a bed and a cypress bathtub inside the bathroom. In Jewoldang, a master bedroom and a second bedroom are facing each other with the living room in the middle. The view of the mountain standing in front of the house from the living room is a highlight of this place. Three rooms are placed in a row in Huyeondang. There are two guest rooms in Hyeondang One of them is an ondol room, and notably it has a veranda inside the room. The other room is a popular room in the guesthouse since it has a push-up window that can be completely open, creating an open view that extends to the open-air veranda. You can enjoy a view of the entire premises at a glance from the veranda. Each guest room is equipped with a luxury tea set and tea. However, guests cannot cook inside. There are electric kettles and mini refrigerators for simple meals. The rooms are furnished with clean handmade cotton bedding. All guests receive a welcome tea and complementary breakfast. Guests are welcome to visit the independent bookstore and cafe on the premises. Roomin Bukchon is a hanok accommodation located in a residential area near Bukchon Hanok Village in Gahoe-dong, Seoul. Entering the front gate of the guesthouse, guests are greeted by a hanok house with a small garden in the middle of the front yard and a hanok-style front porch (toenmaru). As Roomin Bukchon is located in a residential area, it is a perfect place for travelers looking for a quiet place to stay and tourists who want to experience life in hanok. Guests can enjoy the entire building to themselves, including the kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. The 20-square-meter room is cozy enough for two guests. The guesthouse has a self-contained kitchen fully equipped with a Balmuda toaster, an induction stove, kitchenware, basic seasonings, tableware, wine glasses, a refrigerator, and a microwave. There is also a bathroom where guests can shower, and a bedroom installed with a beam projector. Everything in the guesthouse is well thought out for the guests’ convenience. The high-quality mattress and bedding show how much the host cares about the guest experience. Heated eye masks and earplugs are available for deep sleep. Seoro is a traditional hanok guesthouse located inside Jeonju Hanok Village. The hanok, which was built with pine trees and red clay with great care, is so well kept that the surfaces shine like mirrors. Located in the middle of Jeonju Hanok Village, it is a convenient place to explore other places from. It is quite large in comparison to other hanok guesthouses. Main building and another main building that is separate from the other two are nestled inside the walls. There is a total of ten ondol rooms at Seoro. There is a total of seven adorable guest rooms for two where couples can stay. The guest rooms have a mini refrigerator, a television, and a private bathroom. Each room has a small veranda and changhoji -covered windows, which allows you to enjoy the unique atmosphere of hanok. Among the guest rooms, the Freedom and Truth rooms have unique a double-story structure with staircases. Rather than the standard double-story structure, it feels like you are going up to an attic, so the rooms are quite popular. Anchae has a living room and two bed rooms. Cooking inside the guesthouse is also possible as it has a refrigerator, an induction stove, and cooking utensils. Anchae also has an attic space that is connected with a stairway, and a bathroom with a bathtub. There is also a massage chair that will relieve fatigue from the travel. You can spend a lovely time exploring little corners of the front lawn, or admiring the view of hanok on the veranda. Seoro is located in the middle of Jeonju Hanok Village. Jeondong Cathedral, Gyeonggijeon Shrine, Omokdae and Imokdae Historic Sites, and Jeonjuhyanggyo Local Confucian School are right around the corner. Jaman Mural Village, Pungnammun Gate, and Hanbyeokdang Pavilion are also within short walking distances.


Busan(Suyeong-gu)
