Seokparang

Seokparang is a restaurant built from the sarangchae, or meeting room, of Heungseon Daewongun’s byeoljang (villa) who was the father of King Gojong of the Joseon Dynasty. Upon entering the main gate, gardens created with the method used in the late Joseon period and three traditional houses (hanok) can be seen. The royal cuisine served is comprised of strictly selected ingredient and traditional hand-made paste to show the chefs' passion for their dishes. Also, traditional liquors made by craftsmen throughout the nation are available to enjoy.

Dong-Lim Knot Museum

Opened in April 2004, Donglim Knot Museum has on exhibit a variety of decorative traditional Korean maedeup (knots): norigae for hanbok, belts, pouches, as well as materials like thread, cord, and accessories. Housed in a hanok, a traditional Korean house, the gallery has a variety of exhibits, including old and new artwork, and creations that reflect modern trends.The museum also operates a maedeup class taught by an apprentice of museum curator Sim Yeong-mi. Lessons are available in a one-day program as well as in a long-term program. To participate, call (+82-2-3673-2778, Korean) at least two days in advance. The classes operate from 10am to 6pm and have a maximum capacity of 12 people. The museum is closed on Mondays. Instructions are given only in Korean, so foreigners are advised to come with a local guide.

Insadong Geujip

Insadong Geujip, located in the famous neighbourhood of Insadong, is a Korean fusion restaurant that is particularly well known for its traditional, yet unique interior. Along with “Insadong Seafood Rice,” and “Insadong Geujip On Rice”, diners can find a range of delicacies including Hanbang Bossam (Herbal Napa Wraps with Pork), Savory Seafood & Spring Onion Pancake, and Kimchi Parae Pancake on the menu.The restaurant's specialty, Geujip On Rice, a sort of Bibimbab made with a variety of seafood, vegetables and edible flowers and mixed together with rice and a red pepper paste called gochujang. The basic serving size is large enough to feed two.The restaurant is housed in an old hanok (Korean traditional house) and has been carefully renovated to preserve the house’s traditional feel. Indoor lights wrapped with hanji, Korean traditional paper, shine a soft glow over the entire dining area and add to the overall ambience.

This owl themed museum is filled with pieces of art, crafts, useful household items and accessories. The items here come from over 70 countries including China, the United States, the Czech Republic, and Poland. Over 2000 pieces can be found right under one roof.Owl themed folding screens, dishes, vases, sculptures, and even owl stamps are among the diverse selection on display here. When people think of an owl museum, an image of a stuffed owl usually pops into their heads. No stuffed owls can be found at this museum. It is full of many unique items.The Owl Museum was originally a private residence. The structure was remodeled and made into a museum, but managed to keep its original charm. The owner’s second son, who majored in design, chose owl wallpaper to add to the unique atmosphere. Visitors to the museum are treated to a free, tasty cup of tea.

Meal Top - Apgujeong Main Branch

The main branch of Meal Top is located on the 5th floor of Hyundai Department Store in Apgujeong. Known for its patbingsu (shaved ice with sweetened red beans), the café's specialty is Milk Sweet Red Bean Bingsu which is unlike bingsu sold elsewhere. The taste is similar to the traditional red bean bingsu (patbingsu) in olden times, featuring soft glutinous rice cakes with well-boiled red beans atop shaved-ice.

Yeongyang Center main branch is a 52 year-old specialty restaurant in Myeongdong. It specializes in samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and tongdak (roasted chicken). In 1960, Yeongyang Center has started to sell tongdak roasted on an electric rotisserie. Since then, the crisp and not-at-all greasy taste has attracted popularity among local Koreans and it has become a must-visit restaurant among foreign tourists. They use chickens provided by directly owned chicken farm and the owner of the restaurant thoroughly manages all the process of cooking even from the ingredients preparation level. Their main menus are samgyetang and tongdak. The Samgyetang features its tender meat and thick broth after boiling for 2 hours and the tongdak features crispy and not-fatty taste of the well-drained chicken. Among the menus, sansam Samgyetang stuffed with wild ginseng powder is the most be-loved menu.

The Korea House

Korea House was once the private residence of Park Paeng-nyeon, a Joseon Dynasty scholar, that had been renovated with architectural features of an anicent court before opening to the public in 1981. The idyllic premises play host to a variety of cultural programs designed for experiencing various Korean traditions, ranging from food and arts to tea etiquette and wedding ceremonies. Participation in up to two to three programs at a time is possible with an advanced registration.
