Gosu Cave
Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Designated as a natural monument, Gosu Cave is a limestone cave situated in Danyang-gun. This extensive cave is 1,300 meters deep, and is well known for its beauty. The name Gosu comes from the fact that in the past, the area was filled with thickets of tall grass. Rough stone instruments were excavated at the cave entrance, which revealed that this area was home to prehistoric human beings.Inside Gosu Cave, the temperature remains around 15℃ throughout the year. There are reportedly about 25 different kinds of animal life inhabiting within the cave. Some of the rocks resemble animals or human figures, such as Lion Rock, Octopus Rock, Eagle Rock, and even the Virgin Mary Rock. About 120 various shapes of stalactites and stalagmites found here are valuable remains to researchers and scholars. As the cave is colder than most would expect, and you have to often move along holding onto metal railings, it is highly recommended that you wear warm gloves in the winter.

Yeonan Pier

Yeonan Pier is the starting point for all coastal passenger ships bound for the numerous islands in the western sea. Amethyst Cavern Park
Gyeongsangnam-do(Namhae-gun)

The Amethyst Cavern Park is the largest man-made cave tourist attraction in Korea. It is made inside a closed amethyst mine. Connected like a labyrinth, the cave is 2.5 kilometers long and about 16,529 square meters wide. The average temperature is between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius year round. Visitors can observe amethyst stones, see exhibitions, and attend a circus performance full of thrills. Outside the cave, visitors can enjoy a snow sleigh during winter, play facilities, ceramic workshop for youths and children, and hands-on learning experiences using sweet potatoes, peanuts, corn, and herbs.

Mongchon Museum of History

Designated as one of reknowned histroric sites in capital of Seoul (Historic Site No. 297), the museum is located within Mongchontoseong Station (Seoul Subway Line 8), and it houses the best-known relics and remains from ancient Baekje culture. A model of a Baekje dugout hut site reveals ancient dwelling patterns. Also, the facility displays perfectly preserved model of ancient houses, tombs, giving you the feel of traveling back to prehistoric ages. The museum serves as an educational institution for children and families, providing a wide assortment of cultural programs. However, visitors should note that some programs are limited as reservations are required for participation.

Among the many great treats, the most famous is the homemade corn bread filled with sweet corn, minced onion, mushrooms, and bamboo shoots. Although Hyoja does not have point saving cards like many chain stores do, it does offer a lot of free samples, and additional free breads for purchases over 10,000 won. Customers make repeat visits for this kind of service only found at small bakeries like Hyoja.
