Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival

Namsadang Baudeogi Festival, a popular culture and art festival, will be held in the hub of art and culture in Anseong. Since it first started in 2001, this festival has been promoting the preservation of the tradition of Namsadang (troupes of entertainers who traveled around the country). It also became the official festival of CIOFF (International Council of Organizations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts) in 2006.Based on the Namsadang Baudeogi, Anseong World Folkloriada (안성세계민속축전) is considered as the most successful festival ever, drawing seven hundred thousand visitors. In 2013, It has been renamed as the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival and will be held at Anseong Matchum Land.During the festival, visitors can look forward to parades, performances, hands-on activities, exhibitions and contests. Programs include a Baudeogi (leader of one of the best Namsadang groups) memorial ceremony, parades, an opening ceremony, special autumn events, guerilla performances, the Anseong citizen Beona dolligi (dish spinning), themed village and connecting farm village experience programs, etc.

Korea Aerospace Research Institute

The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) researches and develops technologies required to make high-tech airplanes, satellites, and aerospace rockets. The institute is not a simple promotion center, it is where actual research is done. KARI has led the launching of Naro, Korea's first rocket. After watching a promotion video in the auditorium, tourists are guided to the lobby in the main building to listen to explanations and look around the exhibits: KSR-Ⅲ, the world's ninth developed science rocket; Arirang-5, a multi-purpose satellite; smart UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle); and the spacesuit of Lee So-yeon, Korea's first astronaut. In the Satellite Test Building, visitors can see and listen to explanations about a satellite that is currently being researched and tested. They can tour key aerospace facilities such as the Launch Environment Lab, Orbit Environment Lab and Satellite Assembly Lab. * With the successful launch of rocket Naro, Korea became the 11th country to join the Space Club (a group of countries that have the technologies to launch a space rocket).

Korea Military Academy

The Korea Military Academy is famous for strict discipline, patriotism, and officer pupils. In the past this was not an open place to the public, but since 1997 it has become a new tourist site. There is now a touring course which is the main attraction for visitors. The tour starts at the School Information Center to the museum, memorial hall and the exhibition, which takes approximately an hour and thirty minutes. The Army Museum holds various military treasures and remains, and at the memorial hall you can learn more about the history of the army. However the highlight of the tour is the parade of the pupils. You can watch the students march with their flourishing formal suits. You can also see this at the “Hwarang Ceremony”.

Gangguan Port Geobukseon Ship
Gyeongsangnam-do(Tongyeong-si)

Gangguan Port Geobukseon is life-size reconstruction of a Geobukseon ship constructed by the South Korean Navy and commissioned by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to commemorate the patriotic spirit of Admiral Chungmugong Lee Sun-Sin. The 2.2-billion-won project was completed in the downstream area of the Hangang River (part of the DMZ), which previously had limited public access. After that, the area was opened to the public for the first time in 52 years (since the division of the peninsula) to allow the Geobukseon Ship to travel from Hangang Park to Tongyeong-si. Hanbyeokdang Pavilion

Located in Jeollabuk-do province, Hanbyeokdang Pavilion has been designated Tangible Cultural Property No. 15. In 1404, a civil official from the Joseon Dynasty built this structure as a country house. Hanbyeokdang was built at the foot of Seungamsan Mountain with beautiful views of the Jeonjucheon River below. A large highway has since been built nearby taking away from the natural beauty. Nongoldam-gil Street
Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Nongoldam-gil Street refers to the road going uphill from Mukho Port to Mukho lighthouse. 30 years ago, Nongol was the representative port of pollack and squid, but about 20,000 residents left town as fishing resources dwindled. For now, nearly 4,000 people are living in the town whose atmosphere became empty and silent.To improve the ambience of the town, Donghae Cultural Center applied for a project named ‘Mukho Deungdae Damhwa’ to the Ministry of Cultures, Sports and Tourism. In August 2010, the center started visiting older people living in Nongol Village to find out their life story and then painted their stories on the walls throughout the village’s alley. Members who majored in art made the sketches and the elderly in their 60-70s colored the sketches to create the mural street of Nongol Village. The starting point of the street has various frames hanging on the wall which depict the history and process of the village.
