Windy Hill

On the way to Haegeumgang Village, one may encounter the fishing village of Dojangpo. On the left side of the village is Dojangpo Wharf, from where one can take a tour ferry to Oedo Island and Haegeumgang River. Looking up from here, one can see a hill covered in grass and overlooking the sea. This is Windy Hill. A growing number visitors come to the place after it was used a filming site for popular Korean dramas such as Eve's Garden (2003, SBS) and Merry- Go-Round (2004, MBC). The name “Windy Hill” was given by those who visited the island and became a fan. Walking toward the hill along the wooden promenade from the wharf, one can see Hakdong Village from a distance.

Yongso Falls

Yongso Falls is a 6-meter high waterfall located in Yeongwol-eup Yeonha-ri. According to legend, the Yongso Falls was the dwelling place of a magical beast, the Imugi, before he transformed into a dragon and flew up into the heavens. Donggang River

The Donggang River flows through the Gangwon-do district, and is a tributary to the South Hangang River. The Donggang River spans an area of 60km from Jeongseon to Yeongwol. The Donggang River is a well-preserved river, left untouched due to the strong current of the waters and the rugged geography of the mountains. The Donggang River follows a snaky path splitting the chiseled cliffs surrounding it. Many tourists visit the area to see rare animals such as otters, Mandarin ducks, and Chinese scops owls and so on. Donggang River is also famous for white-water rafting.

Yangjaecheon Stream Trail (양재천길)

The Yangjaecheon stream (15.6km long) is one of the tributaries of the Hangang River, originating from Cheonggyeosan and Gwanaksan mountains and flowing through the Gwacheon region to Gangnam. The small road and path that run from Dogok-dong to Daechi-dong along Yangjaecheon Stream is known as the ‘Yangjaecheon Stream Gil’.The Trail is the perfect place to take a drive since the road is lined with around 830 stately metasequoia trees. The walking path that runs along the banks of the stream (known as the ‘streetlight walk’) is a particularly popular date spot, since the trees backlit by the streetlights provide a wonderfully romantic atmosphere. The ‘Yangjaecheon Stream Trail’ area is famous as well for its bike course that runs all the way from Gwacheon to Gangnam.

Mukho Lighthouse
Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Mukho Port was opened on August 11, 1941 and has been a major port for fishing and trading (mainly, coal). Established on June 8, 1963, Mukho Lighthouse has been a guardian of ships and boats ever since. Located 67m up the slopes of Mt. Dongmun, Mukho Lighthouse (12m in x_height) is a white and circular concrete structure with two floors. It is surrounded by a cozy park where forsythias blossom in spring and visitors can overlook the sea. The park is home to the Maritime Fishing Exhibition Hall, where visitors can learn about the history of fishing in the area. The lighthouse and its surrounding area are full of quiet and comfortable spots to relax and enjoy the scenery. Because of its location (on the highest point of Mukho beach), the lighthouse is absolutely crucial to the safety of ships and boats coming into the port. The lighthouse’s large light, installed in October 2003, was developed by Korean scientists and uses a rotating prism lens that can shine beams of light as far as 42km. * Opened: June 8, 1963 * Structure: white and circular concrete structure (12m in x_height) * Lighting: FlW10s * Characteristics: located on Mt. Hadong Agyang-myeon [Slow City]

Agyang-myeon located in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do province is home to Korea’s well-known Jirisan Mountain, and the crystal clear waters of Seomjingang River. Two mountain ranges, both beginning from Samsinbong Peak, form the natural boundaries of the area and its villages.Agyang-myeon’s unique atmosphere invokes feelings of nostaligia as well as fresh natural scents of the outdoors. At the foot of the mountain is a time-honored wild tea field that has existed more than 1,300 years. Green tea from Hadong has long been known as superior to all other green teas.The area is also famous as the setting of ’Toji’, a saga written by Korea’s famed author Park Gyeong-Ri. Some places referenced in the novel include Cham Pan Choi’s residence and Pyeongsa-ri Park. Every autumn, the “Toji Literature Festival” takes place here. For its representative traditions and many other reasons, Agyang-myeon was designated the fifth Slow City in Korea in 2009. The city is the first tea producing area designate as a Slow City, and the green tea of Hadong was officially recognized as a local specialty by the World Slow City Network General Assembly.
