Suaedang House
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Andong-si)

This hanok was built by Ryu Jin-geol, also known by his pen name Suae, in 1939. It is located beside the head household of the Sugok Clan who were part of the Jeonju Ryu family. When you enter the lofty, 5-kan*-high gate, you will find 3 buildings that measure 29 kans in total. Suaedang House has a gabled-roof, and is composed of a 7-by-2-kan residential area, and a 10-kan shed, which are situated together in a ㄱ-shape. The hanok was used as an ancestral memorial hall, and later designated as the 56th Cultural Relic of Gyeongsangbuk-do. It has been well preserved, as it was built with sturdy pine usually found in the Chunyang region. The patterns on the lattice doors have peculiar shapes, and the house as a whole faithfully embodies the architectural technique of the late Joseon Dynasty. Seonsu Port

Near Dongmak Beach, Seonsu Port (also called Hupo Port) is the largest port on Ganghwado Island. Fishing boasts anchored here often travel to and from the Seokmodo Island area which is known for catches of Large-eyed Herring. Thus the port is known for its many sashimi restaurants offering freshly-served cuts of this fish.Usually return with Large-eyed herring are known for their tenderness and delicious taste. Herring sashimi is available year-round, but many believe it tastes best in May when the fish grow plump in size. In addition to sashimi slices, Large-eyed Herring can be enjoyed roasted, fried, mixed in dishes, or added to soups. Large-eyed Herring soup is a spicy stew that contains ground herring. This delicious menu item is difficult to find away from Seonsu Port. The fish market inside the cluster of restaurants offers fresh seafood including herring, blue crab, king prawns, bass, gray mullet, and webfoot octopus at reasonable market prices.The seaside destination is close to many nearby attractions including: Jeondeungsa Temple, Dongmak Beach, and a scenic drive along the coast Ganghwado Island. The port is also known for romantic sunsets which are best enjoyed when viewed from between the port and Dongmak Beach.

Yongmunsan Natural Recreational Forest

Yongmunsan Natural Recreation Forest offers, log cabins, camping sites, a multi-purpose playground, walking paths, and hiking trails. Suwolbong Peak and Chagwi Beach

Located at the western end of Jejudo Island, Suwolbong, a small mountaintop, is famous for being a favorite sunset viewing place. The mountain has vertical cliffs spreading out like a scroll painting, created from the sea waves gradually cutting inland. The top the hexagonal pavilion Suwoljeong, from where you can look down on all sides. From this pavilion, you can see all of the West Sea.To the north, off the coast, is the Chagwido (sometimes called Jukdo) Island, where only the top peak area has grass growing, and the rest of the island is made up of dark hyeonmuam rocks and cliffs. Chagwido is famous as a fishing place, and in January, March, June, and December, people come here to fish. Around sunset, Chagwido’s seashore turns crimson red from the sun and is truly an awesome sight to behold.

Jungangtap Park
Chungcheongbuk-do(Chungju-si)

The Jungwon Tappyeongni 7-story stone tower (National Treasure No. 6) is often referred to simply as “Jungangtap” (“Central Tower”) because of its location at the center of Korea. Standing at a x_height of 14.5 meters, the tower is presumed to have been built during the Unified Silla Period. An outdoor sculpture park (the first of its kind in Chungcheongbuk-do Province) has been established in the grassy area around the tower and contains 26 sculptures created by Korean sculptors. The larger Jungangtapsajeok Park is accented by gazebos, small fountains, a hiking path, and is home to the Chungju Museum, an outdoor museum, a musical fountain, 10 sculptures and etc. The park’s convenient facilities have made it a popular leisure retreat for the citizens of Chungju as well as an educational site for children. Chungjujojeongji Dam, located north of Jungangtapsajeok Park, is another popular retreat for the locals.
