Gyeonggi-do(Anyang-si)

Anyangcheon Stream starts to the west of Baekunsan Mountain in Uiwang-si and crosses through Gunpo-si, Anyang-si, Gwangmyeong-si in Gyeonggi-do and Gemcheon-gu, Guro-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul. After passing those areas, the stream meets the Hangang River near Seongsandaegyo Bridge. Anyangcheon Stream flows in front of Anyang City and the stream was once known as Daecheon as well as Gitan during the Joseon Dynasty period.


Gyeonggi-do(Yongin-si)

Korean Folk Village hosts the Good Luck Feast for Welcoming the New Year to celebrate the New Year in February. During this feast, various traditional events including daljip (bundle of twigs that is burned to bring good luck), jisin bapgi (prayer ritual involving singing and playing instruments), sharing tteok (rice cake), stamping bujeok (charms preventing bad lucks), reading Tojeongbigyeol (Korean traditional fortune-telling book) and Yutjeom (new year’s fortune-telling by throwing yut) are available as New Year’s event. Visitors can pound rice cake (tteok) and also try boktteok (복떡) made in the traditional way. Unique programs such as stamping bujeok and reading tojeongbigyeol will entertain visitors who wish to enjoy Korean traditional holidays. In celebration of Seollal (Korean Lunar New Year’s Day), Korean Folk Village plans to introduce a new character, ‘Bok jangsu’ (복(福)장수), followed by Eoggaegeoji, Yeotgeol, and Gumiho. The varied characters each have their own personality. ‘Bok (福) geoji’ likes begging, ‘Bok (福) gumiho’ loves hanbok (Korean traditional costume) and ‘Bok (福) pojol’ cares for folk games. These characters can be seen throughout the festival venue, sharing well-wishing remarks for the New Year. In addition, people can be selected as a winner of ‘Daebak (big luck) lottery’ which provides prizes when playing a simple game with ‘Bok (福) jangsu’. A mask dance performance will be prepared at the entrance of Korean Folk Village to greet the New Year. Other events include face-painting, and deokdam (well-wishing remarks) photo zone. On the day of Lunar New Year’s Day, performance events such as ‘Beauty of Traditional dance, Tradition of Flowers’ and ‘Gukak B-boy’ are planned. Furthermore, visitors who enter the folk village wearing hanbok and visitors born in the year of the sheep can receive a 50% discounted one day ticket. To get the discount, please bring valid ID to the festival site.


Gyeonggi-do(Pocheon-si)

Bidulginangpokpo Falls, Natural Monument No. 537, is located within a small valley. The waterfall is surrounded by grand columnar joints. The landscape appears quite mysterious and serene, earning it a spot as a poplar filming site for historical dramas. The falls gets it's name ("Pigeon Falls" in Korean) from the story of many wild pigeons nesting in the caves around the waterfall. Other say the name comes from the area's shape. During heavy rainfall, the road to the waterfall is closed, so checking the weather before visiting is recommended.


Jeollanam-do(Gurye-gun)

The vast region of the Gurye Special Tourist Zone comprises Toji-myeon, Gwangui-myeon and Sandong-myeon, which has a river and an open field surrounding the mountainous area. Every part of Gurye deserves the title of Special Tourist Zone for offering many things to see. Well-known for its rich soil, the most outstanding natural resources of Gurye is Jirisan National Park, the first to be designated as a national park, and Seomjingang River. Every year, many hikers visit Jirisan National Park, also called the “bosom of a mother.” The park is cherished for its unpolluted scenery, such as its deep and wide geographical features and crystal clear valleys. The park offers diverse hiking trails and has mountain retreats for backpackers. Jirisan Dulegil Trail that runs along the periphery of Jirisan Mountain is where one could enjoy the experience of mountain glens, different from mountaineering. On their way hikers and trekkers can see groups of Sansuyu (cornus fruit) in spring as well as the autumnal tints of the mountain and valley in autumn. Another strength is that the park has different types of accommodations including Hanok (Korean traditional house) homestay and a guest house, apart from leisure facilities including hot springs in Jirisan. The park is a great place for historical inquiries as it is filled with historic temples, including Hwaeomsa Temple and Yeongoksa Temple, and historic relics. Flowing from Gokseong to Hadong, Seomjingang River creates a tranquil ambience. The cleanest ever in Korea, a large number of marsh snails and sweetfish live in this river. Gyeonggi-do(Guri-si)

Lotte Mart Guri Branch is a large supermarket in Guri-si. The newly renovated building accommodates 1,000 vehicles, and offers a spacious shopping experience. Various fashion brands and kids brands are available, as well as specialized stores and convenient facilities. The store is connected to Guri Whole Sale Market (구리종합유통시장), making it a convenient one-stop shopping venue.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Pohang-si)

About 8km past Pohang Hyeongsan Rotary and Hyeongsangyo Bridge, you will see the entrance to the town of Guryongpo-eup and a tourist map of Guryongpo beside it. In Guryongpo-eup, the Guryongpo Five-Day Market is held on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 23rd, and 28th of every month. The Five-Day Market is held not only at the market, but also at areas around Changjucheon Stream. The market first started when a  small village was formed around Guryongpo Port. In the 1950s and 60s, when Guryongpo was incorporated into the county of Yeongil-gun, Guryongpo Market flourished because it became the main market of Yeongil-gun County. Nowadays, thanks to the rows of seafood restaurants inside, the market became even more popular among seafood lovers. The market carries a wide variety of fresh vegetables and produce, herbs, grains, and regional specialties. The seafood at the market is delivered fresh from Guryongpo Port. The squid at Guryongpo Port, which is also the specialty of the market, makes up about 70% of the total catch in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The market is also frequently visited by seafood gourmets for its squid.  


Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

Located in Pyeongchang County, Gangwon-do Province, Jeonggangwon (total area of 33,057㎡) is a tourism complex consisting of hanok, modern accommodation facilities, a Korean restaurant, a food museum, gardens, and an animal farm among its many facilities. Joh Jeonggang, a specialist in Korean food, established this tourism complex with the aim of to developing and promoting traditional Korean cuisine through hands-on experience programs. The current owner took over the complex six years ago and continues to run the business. After passing through the large gate and walking along the path, the first things to catch the visitor’s eye are the many hundreds of crocks for soy sauce and other condiments, all of which are neatly arranged in front of the Korean restaurant. After that, a refined hanok building, a well-maintained garden, and a children’s animal farm which keeps birds, rabbits, chickens, pheasants, etc. will come into view. The clear water of Geumdang Valley flows down in front of the hanok, while the Geumdangsan Mountains embrace the vast expanse of the complex, creating a magnificent landscape. Jeonggangwon, named after the founder’s name ‘Jeong-gang’, can be translated as a ‘garden where a quiet river flows.’ The garden is planted with dozens of wildflowers and abundant fruit trees including Korean cherry, peach, and plum trees. The Jeonggangwon’s hanok was built ten years ago using pine wood and other eco-friendly hanok construction materials to emphasize the structure’s unique beauty. It comprises one main house and two annex buildings, and has eleven guest rooms in total. Situated on slightly elevated ground, the hanok commands open views of green mountains and fields. Each room bears the name of a particular flower in Korean, including Doraji, Mandrami, Baekryeon, and Jindalrae, which can accommodate to three persons; Mulmangcho, Railnak, Bongseonhwa, and Maehwa, which can accommodate two to four persons; Suseonhwa and Deulgukhwa, which can take two to five persons; and Chaesonghwa, the largest room, with a capacity of four to eight persons. Each room is decorated with antique furniture, folk paintings, and other items that were custom-made by artisans. All the hanok rooms feature ondol (Korean floor heating system) and toilets. The outdoor paddling pool, table tennis table and grass field are available to guests free of charge. In addition, breakfast and dinner is served free of charge – breakfast consists of a set menu of dried Pollack soup and rice, while dinner is a Jeonggangwon full course menu served together with 12 side dishes as well as grilled fish, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), memiljeon (buckwheat pancakes), and steamed eggs. Notably, Jeonggangwon’s Traditional Korean Food Culture Experience Center, winner of the Korea Tourism Award in the hands-on food experience category in 2014, offers visitors an exciting opportunity to sample and experience traditional Korean food. The yard contains around 500 ~ 600 crocks filled with various types of traditional Korean hand-made pastes and sauces produced by the center, including red pepper paste, soybean paste, soy sauce, pickled vegetables and so on. Customers can buy products directly or by phone. It also has a stone-built ice storage for salted seafood that maintains a constant temperature all year round, and a salt storage for good quality salt. In addition, the center offers diverse hands-on experience programs that allow guests to make their own traditional Korean food including bibimbap, gochujang (red pepper paste), kimchi, mackerel ssamjang (a mix of doenjang and gochujang), bean curd, injeolmi (Korean traditional rice cake made with glutinous rice and coated with bean flour), memiljeon, and songpyeon (half-moon rice cake). All of these programs are popular among foreign visitors, and are charged differently according to the food menu and cooking time. Visitors can also sample a variety of Korean dishes at the Korean restaurant, visit the Food Museum, which displays old agricultural machinery and implements for making rice cakes (tteok), or try on hanbok at the Korean Clothes Experience Museum (KRW 8,000 per person).


Gangwon-do(Sokcho-si)

Gyeongsangnam-do(Tongyeong-si)

This hotel is located by the shores of Tongyeong, the “Naples of the East,” and lives up to its name with its view of the sea. It can be reached by foot in 8 min from Tongyeong Bus Terminal, but guests also have access to the pickup service offered by the hotel.
