Haeundae Somunnan Amso Galbijip opened in 1964 and has lasted two generations. Its unique seasoning and Hanu (Korean beef) give a savory taste to the galbi (beef short ribs). The food has a soft and chewy texture with a yangnyeom (marinade) sauce, adding a more delectable taste to the short ribs. Another famous item on the menu is gamja-guksu (noodles with potato), offered as a dessert after having meat. Boryeong Coal Museum (보령석탄박물관)

Situated in Boryeong (Chungcheongnam-do), Boryeong Coal Museum focuses on the history of the coal industry and its importance. Its indoor and outdoor exhibition halls display a wide array of coal equipment employed to mine and carry coal. Visitors can also see a video depicting the coal mining process. A reproduced mine is equipped with a tunnel (using the cold air from a closed mine) and decorated with photos on the wall of the tunnel. Reproducing the real process of coal mining, visitors may feel as if they are going up and down the mine, 400m underground. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. (to 5 p.m. during the winter season); it is closed on Mondays.

Donamseowon Confucian Academy [UNESCO World Heritage] (돈암서원 [유네스코 세계문화유산])

Donamseowon Confucian Academy was built in 1634, originally 1.5 km away from its current location. It received a royal charter in 1660 and relocated to its current location in 1880 due to flooding issues. The seowon's main gate, Ipdeokmun Gate, is made up of three entrance doors. Once inside, Yangseongdang Hall can be seen facing the main gate, with Eungdodang Hall to the left. Ancestral rites take place every February and August at Jungjeong Hall. Inside the seowon is a temple that enshrines the ancestral tablets of four prominent scholars who taught at this institution - Kim Jang-saeng, Kim jip, Song Jun-gil, and Song Si-yeol. Among the academies that served Kim Jang-saeng and his teachings, Donamseowon is considered the most important and influencial.
