Set in a natural environment occupying approximately 243 acres, visitors can experience the natural atmosphere with over 260 traditional houses reminiscent of the late Joseon Dynasty, including various household goods from different regions. All these features have been relocated and restored to provide visitors with a broad understanding of Korean food, clothing, and housing style of the past. About twenty workshops, various handicrafts such as pottery, baskets, winnows, bamboo wares, wooden wares, paper, brass wares, knots, fans, musical instruments, iron wares and embroidery are practiced. In the Korean Folk Village, where the customs and lifestyles of the past generations have been carefully preserved, various lifestyles prevalent during the Joseon Dynasty can be seen. A specail event called 'Welcome to the Joseon' will allow visitors to time travel to the period and is to be held each year in May. The entertainment facilities includes a big family park themed with valcano expolosion caves, the only one volcano park in Korea as well as Folk Traditional Market where visitors can enjoy korean traditional food such as rice cakes and alcoholic drinks. You can visit the Folk Museum as well as the Art Museum (scheduled to open) to see and learn about the essence of Korean culture and folk customs, which are not suitable for display and re-creating in the open-air setting. NANTA! “Korea’s first show with Exclusive theatre!” What’s NANTA? The show is titled COOKIN'because of its simple appeal to the audience. In addition, the title allows for a more international approach to the show that is called NANTAin Korea. The figurative meaning behind NANTAis a reckless punching of a typical boxing match. Our NANTA is a non-verbal performance of reckless rhythms that dramatize customary Korean percussion in a strikingly comedic stage show. It integrates unique Korean traditional tempos with a western performance style. NANTA is a comic musical non-verbal performance derived from the traditional Korean instrumental performance “Samulnori.” The kitchenis its backdrop, chefs its main characters. Knives and other kitchen utensils are transformed into musical instruments in the handsofthe performers. They thrill the audience with acrobatic cooking shows, a surprise wedding ceremony, and an exciting dumpling challenge. The highlightof the show is a “Water Drum Sequence” where drummers beat 5 standing kitchenware drums with water and LED lights on it and this climax makes theaudience confused whether it’s drum or their heart beating. NANTA has been one of the most popular shows in Korea ever since it premiered in October 1997, drawing the largest number of spectators in Korean theatre history. NANTA made its international debut in 1999 at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it received an award for the best performance. Changdeokgung Palace and Huwon

Changdeokgung Palace was the second royal villa built following the construction of Gyeongbukgung Palace in 1405. It was the principal palace for many kings of the Joseon Dynasty, and is the most well-preserved of the five remaining royal Joseon palaces. The palace grounds are comprised of a public palace area, a royal family residence building, and the rear garden. Known as a place of rest for the kings, the rear garden boasts a gigantic tree that is over 300 years old, a small pond and a pavilion.The palace gained importance starting from the time of Seongjong, the 9th king of Joseon, when a number of kings began using it as a place of residence. Unfortunately, the palace was burned down by angry citizens in 1592 when the royal family fled their abode during the Japanese invasion of Korea. Thanks to Gwanghaegun, the palace was restored in 1611. Even today, it houses a number of cultural treasures, such as Injeongjeon Hall, Daejojeon Hall, Seonjeongjeon Hall, and Nakseonjae.Changdeokgung Palace’s rear garden was constructed during the reign of King Taejong and served as a resting place for the royal family members. The garden had formerly been called Bukwon and Geumwon, but was renamed Biwon after King Kojong came into power. The garden was kept as natural as possible and was touched by human hands only when absolutely necessary. Buyongjeong, Buyongji, Juhabru, Eosumun, Yeonghwadang, Bullomun, Aeryeonjeong, and Yeongyeongdang are some of the many pavilions and fountains that occupy the garden. The most beautiful time to see the garden is during the fall when the autumn foliage is at its peak and the leaves have just started to fall.Though it has been treasured by Koreans for centuries, Changdeokgung Palace was recognized as a World Cultural Heritage site by the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Committee in December of 1997 during the committee meeting in Naples, Italy.(Click here for more information on Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site)Changdeokgung Palace was one of the places visited by the first ladies of the Seoul G20 summit during the G20 conference in Seoul in November 2010.
