Hansol Raw Fish Restaurant

Different from other beaches, Mongdol Beach is covered with black, round rocks instead of the usual white sands, but the more popular beach of the area is Hakdong Mongdol Beach. Due to this unique characteristic, many beach-goers visit during the summer seasons. There are also many well-known restaurants in the area, one of those being the Hansol Raw Fish Restaurant. A stationery next to the restaurant comes to sight first, as the restaurant is small in size, located on the side of the street with a Sea Squirt Bibimbap specialty that is to die for. The restaurant's clean and cozy interior holds over 10 tables, designed to remind one of a beautifully picturesque countryside. One of their most popular dishes is the Haemul-doenjang-jjigae, a stew made with soybean paste and plentiful amounts of fresh seafood. Hansol also possesses an aquarium full of red snappers and flatfishes, which make up the ingredients for their delicious Hoe-deopbap.

Geoje Codfish Festival
Gyeongsangnam-do(Geoje-si)

Tourists travel from far and wide to visit the Geoje Codfish Festival and particularly to participate in the Codfish Direct Sales Marketplace, and the on-the-spot codfish auctions. As well as these famous events, the Geoje Codfish Festival presents a variety of performances and events including the Geoje specialty farmer’s market and the Geoje Codfish Quiz Competition, there will also be a food marketplace. Throughout the festival visitors will be able to buy codfish and salted fish at affordable prices.

Hwangmaesan County Park

Located at the border between Gahoe-myeon and Daebyeong-myeon of Hapcheon, Hwangmaesan is a guardian mountain of Hapcheon but has not been popular and was hardly mentioned in hiking magazines or tourist maps. Thanks for that, the mountain has all the natural environment that has been kept untouched and undamaged. In 1983, the mountain was designated as the County Park and now, along with Gayasan, it is regarded as one of the most major mountains in Hapcheon. Hwangmaesan is beautiful during the spring season when royal azaleas are at their full blossom but the summer season when hills are covered with fresh greens or the fall when silver grasses cover the hills gloriously and even the snow flowers in the winter season are scenes not to be missed. Unlike other mountain tops, this one has a full open view so every seasonal changes are more truly experienced. It is convenient that there is a road that reaches to the top of the mountain but if time allows, hiking up to the top to see the magnificent view is recommended for visitors.

Geoje Island Flower Festival

The Geoje Island Flower Festival will be held at the Geoje-si Agriculture Development Complex in Geoje-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do. The festival will take on a culture and art theme with autumn flowers and insect displays, including around 100 chrysanthemum sculptures and 150 varieties of chrysanthemum. During the festival, there will be a range of programs such as cultural performances, hands-on activities, markets, contests and special events.

Bugok Hot Springs Special Tourist Zone

The hot springs have been called Bugok (the hanja characters 釜谷 refer to “cauldron” and “valley” respectively) because the land resembles the shape of a cauldron. When the spring was first discovered, people with skin ailments came in crowds because of the water’s healing properties. The sulfur and minerals in the water are effective for respiratory and skin ailments. Today, the hot springs attract 10,000~20,000 visitors a day, adding up to about 4 million people a year. Discovered in 1973, the hot springs have a 6,000-ton daily water supply flowing from underground at a temperature as high as 78℃. Bugok was officially designated a national tourist resort in 1977. Twenty years later, it was promoted to a Special Tourist Zone. Composed of 24 hot springs, the complex has hotels, condominiums, a golf course, and a fountain that shoots up hot water. The resort Bugok Hawaii has a variety of amenities including outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a theater, and saunas, making it a popular destination for newlyweds and families. The Bugok Hot Springs Festival, also called Onjeongje, is held from October to December every year to promote the area. The festival offers various activities such as a boiled egg eating contest (eggs boiled using water from the hot spring), foot baths, Pungmulnori (Korean folk music tradition) and other performances. Nearby attractions include Hwawangsan Mountain and the Upo Wetlands. Mubongsa Temple
Gyeongsangnam-do(Miryang-si)

Mubongsa means “A sacred place where phoenix used to dance,” and is a small and Buddhist temple. It is conveniently and accessibly located near one of the city’s top attractions, Yeongnamnu Pavilion, which has a spectacular view of the Miryanggang River, the bamboo forest below, and the park and the downtown area on the other side of the river. Perched high on the cliffs above the upper reaches of the river is Aranggak Pavilion. Take the flight of stairs from this pavilion to reach the famous Yeongnamnu Pavilion and Mubongsa Temple. Enshrining the Seokjoyeoraejwasang (seated stone Buddha statue; Treasure No. 493), the temple has long been a popular site among poets and painters for its picturesque landscape. * Mubongsa Seokjoyeoraejwasang, a well-known relic of Mubongsa Temple Mubongsa Seokjoyeoraejwasang (seated stone Buddha statue of Mubongsa Temple) is a well-preserved statue of the Buddha from the late Unified Silla Era. The 97-cm-tall statue was designated as National Treasure No. 493 on June 24, 1969.

Geumsan Mountain

Namhae's Geumsan, located in Gyeongsangnam-do, is the only mountain within Hallyeo National Maritime Park to have craggy ridge lines and gorgeous rocky surfaces. In December of 1974, it was designated as Gyeongsangnam-do's Natural Monument No. 18, but has since gone up to No. 39 as of May 2008. The mountain also features a trail that spans eight ridge lines that you can access from Idong-myeon Bokgok Entrance, and there is also Sangju Beach in the vicinity, which attracts many tourists.
