Mulhan Valley
Chungcheongbuk-do(Yeongdong-gun)

The waters that carved Mulhan Valley (물한계곡) in Yeongdong, Chungcheongbuk-do originate in the upper reaches of the Hancheon Village stream. In summer, many tourists visit the valley while the nearby Mt. Minjujisan, Samdobong Peak and Mt. Gakhosan are popular among hikers year-round. The scrub, azaleas and royal azaleas along the ridges display their magnificent beauty throughout the year and beautiful waterfalls flow through the area, including Okso Falls, Uiyonggol Falls and Eumjuam Falls. The harmonious valley contains Janggun Rock, many thick forests and even swamplands, offering a wide array of spectacular and splendid sights.

Chungju Mireukdaewon Stone Temple Site (충주 미륵대원지)
Chungcheongbuk-do(Chungju-si)

The site stretches from North to South on a basin in the Haneuljae mountain pass, which connects Chungcheongbuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do provinces. It is said that Mauitaeja, the last prince of the Silla Kingdom, had dream one night as he was traveling to Geumgangsan Mountain where the Goddess Gwanseeumbosal instructed him to erect a statue Buddha. As a result, he built a temple to honor the goddess’ wishes at the current site of Mireuk-ri. Though the temple site has been invaded multiple times, the statue of Buddha has remained intact for over 1,000 years.

Mungang Sulfur Hot Springs
Chungcheongbuk-do(Chungju-si)

Located in the middle of Woraksan Mountain, Joryeongsan Mountain, and Sujupalbong Mountain, Hot Sulfur Springs is considered one of the best hot sulfur springs in Korea. Geumsusan Mountain
Chungcheongbuk-do(Danyang-gun)

Geumsusan Mountain (altitude: 1,1015m) is located in Jeokseong-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. The mountain is also known as Minyeobong (beauty peak) because the mountain range, when seen from afar, is said to resemble a beautiful woman lying on her side. The mountain was originally called Baegamsan, but the noted Joseon-period scholar Yi Hwang (pen name, Toegye) renamed the mountain Geumsusan (silk embroidery mountain) when he was the chief governor of Danyang County, saying its graceful features matched the fineness of silk embroidery. Geumsusan Mountain is considered as one of the “Eight Scenic Views of Danyang” with visitors flocking all year round to enjoy the scenic mountain landscapes carpeted with royal azalea blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, foliage in autumn, and snow in winter. In the vicinity is a seaside filming location of Korean historical dramas. The Geumsusan Mountain Gamgol Maple Festival is held in this area every October.

Sangsoo Herb Land (상수허브랜드)

Sangsoo Herb Land is an arboretum which houses 1,000 species of herbs throughout its 82,645㎡ (25,000 pyeong) area. The glass greenhouse, spanning over 9,917㎡ (3,000 pyeong), keeps herbs fresh and green, even in the winter season. Herb Land is well-known for their flowers that bloom year-round, as well their diverse events including the Herb Land Festival held in May each year, wedding ceremonys, banquets, hands-on program classes, and more. Sangsoo Herb Land provides a wide array of programs for visitors. The major event is the Herb Land Festival, aiming to spread knowledge on the use of diverse herbs, including introducing the aromatic value of herb plants in landscaping and as a natural insecticide, as well as the health benefits of herbal foods. Participants can take part in seminars and hands-on activities to learn more about herbs. The banquet room on the second floor can accommodate large groups for events, serving excellent herb dishes at reasonable prices. An outdoor wedding service surrounded by beautiful gardens is also available.

Cheongnyongsa Temple Site
Chungcheongbuk-do(Chungju-si)

This is the site where Cheongnyongsa Temple, a major temple in the Goryeo era, once stood. The following legend is associated with the temple. One spring day, a monk took refuge from the rain under a tree. There, he saw two dragons at play with a cintamani (wish-fulfilling jewel), which fell towards the ground. One of the dragons flew towards the cintamani and on its way up, it went up to Cheonggyesan Mountain. The dragon and the cintamani disappeared and the rain stopped. Near the site, there remains the Jeonghyewonyungtap Pagoda where the sarira of National Preceptor Bogak Guksa is enshrined, a stone lantern, and Jeonghyewonyungtap Pagoda. On the bottom of the Jeonghyewonyungtap Pagoda, a lion is dynamically depicted, so it is also called Sajaseokdeung (lion stone lantern). The latter, together with the Ssangsajaseokdeung (twin lion stone lantern) in the Hoeamsaji Temple site in Yangju, Gyeonggi-do Province, are representative lion stone lanterns from the Joseon era.

K-Beauty Gallery

K-Beauty Gallery, located inside Osong KTX Station in Chungcheongbuk-do, opened its doors on April 3, 2014. K-Beauty Gallery serves as a venue for the exhibition of promotional and advertising materials used by the Cosmetics & Beauty Expo Osong Korea held in 2013. Suanbo Hot Springs Special Tourist Zone

Suanbo Hot Springs Special Tourist Zone is a time-honored hot springs resort in Korea. Known as the first naturally yielding hot springs that started to flow 30,000 years ago, its effect is also widely recognized. Gushing out from 100 m underground, its water is weak alkaline in nature, and the temperature is 53℃. What's more, the water contains minerals and far-infrared effect. This is why a large number of people flock to the hot springs for treatment and recuperation. Currently, it is under the jurisdiction of Chungju-si City. At the center of Suanbo Hot Springs is Multang Park, with a shallow hot spring water stream, which is used as a foot bath. For those who are not able to take a bath, a foot bath is a good option. The foot bath is especially popular from autumn to spring. Most visitors to Suanbo Hot Springs stay at a hotel or motel in the area. The restaurants here serve pheasant dishes, the local specialty. Suanbo Hot Springs Special Tourist Zone is adjacent to the national road that spans from downtown Chungju-si City to Mungyeong. Sitting in the heart of the Korean Peninsula, it is easy to access from Seoul and other provincial cities. Apart from the hot springs, there is a lot to see in this area, such as Woraksan Mountain, Chungjuho Lake and Songgye Valley. Angseong Hot Springs

Located in Donsan-ri and Neungam-ri, Angseong-myeon, Chungju-si, Cheongcheongbuk-do, Angseong hot spring offers weak alkaline water coming from 700m deep underground. Okcheon Hyangsu Baengni

Okcheon Hyangsu Baengni (100-ri) Bike Road is a bicycle path located along the riverside where one can enjoy the beauty of Daecheong Lake and the spirit of poetry in the hometown of Jeong Jiyong, Korea's modern poet and author of "Nostalgia." Visitors can also visit the Jeong Jiyong Literature Library and Janggye Tourist Park by biking along the national highway Route 37, which is famous for its cherry blossoms. This bicycle path is relatively easy to travel on and is suitable for beginners. It became even more popular after being featured on the TV show "1 Night 2 Days."
