Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Chuam Chotdaebawi Rock (추암 촛대바위) in Donghae-si, Gangwon-do Province is one of Korea’s most famous tourist attractions. The beautifully formed rock towers high into the sky and resembles a candlestick, from which it gets its name. "Chotdae” is Korean for “candle,” while “bawi” means “rock”; quite literally “candle rock.”The beautiful sight of Chotdaebawi Rock surrounded by 10 or so smaller rocks is sure to take your breath away. The surrounding rocks are named after their shapes; "Geobukbawi"(turtle), "Bububawi"(couple), and "Hyeongjebawi"(brothers).Chotdaebawi Rock is a popular place for visitors to come and enjoy the magnificent beauty of the sun slowly peeking its way over the edge of the rock face. The beauty of the rock at sunrise is so picturesque that it is even used as a backdrop for the Aegukga (the Korean national anthem) when it is aired on KBS (Korean Broadcasting System).Other nearby attractions include Chuam Beach and Haeamjeong (a type of pavilion dating back to the Joseon Dynasty).* The Legend of Chotdaebawi RockOnce upon a time, there was a man who lived in Chuam who had a concubine. His wife was jealous of the second wife and the conflict between the two women continually escalated. One day, god became enraged over their continual quarreling and threw lighting down from heaven, striking both women dead. The newly-made widower missed his wives so much that he remained frozen in his loneliness and eventually turned into a rock, which is now Chotdaebawi Rock that we see today.

Seoul(Jongno-gu)

The delicious, sweet, red-bean soup called “Danpatjuk” in Korean and served at “The Second Best in Seoul” has been an all-time favorite since it opened in 1976. Not only the exterior, but the interior as well, is very simple and modest, similar to a teahouse in the '70s. This does not keep people from coming back because the unforgettable taste of the sweet red-bean soup makes them return again and again.“The Second Best in Seoul” was originally opened as a teahouse for traditional Korean medicinal tea; sweet red-bean soup being one of the main specialties on their menu list. But, nowadays, sweet red-bean soup has become the most popular menu item. Sweet red-bean soup can be enjoyed as a light meal because it fills you up quickly. In addition, the chestnuts, gingko nuts, red beans, and glutinous rice cake that are in the thick red-bean soup provide good nutrition. TIP: The name is very special, right? “The Second Best in Seoul” was named by their modest mind of making food with utmost sincerity.

Horse racing has become a unique attraction in Jeju Island, also referred to as the Hawaii of Asia. The Korean Horse Affairs Association dedicated 2 years and 6 months to complete the construction of Jeju Racecourse, which opened on October 28, 1990 and became a popular local attraction since then. It is the only horse race game in the world that uses Jeju Island’s native ponies, Jejuma, as race horses, providing exotic and unique entertainment for the audience. The race takes place at the mid-slope of Hallasan Mountain that offers scenic views of its magnificent mountain slopes in the background. The summer night race with its silver-gray light from the light tower and the nearby artificial waterfall provides a romantic and enthusiastic atmosphere enough to chase away the summer heat. * Establishment Purpose – To protect and breed Jeju Island’s native horses, Jejuma (designated as the Natural Monument No. 347) and in result make a contribution to the local community by promoting Jeju Island tourism and livestock production industry. * Jejuma – Jejuma, name given to the native horses of Jeju Island, is a symbol of Jeju Island. Jejumas are bred in the wild with minimum human contact. They also represent the people of Jeju Island as Jejumas are known for their great adaptive nature and strong perseverance compared to their size.
