Oktokki Space Center

Completed in May 2007, Oktokki Space Center houses a space theme park that combines education, exploration, and recreation. The center is divided into two sections: an indoor exhibition hall and an outdoor exhibition hall. The wide-range of exhibits and interactive facilities provide an educational experience for children and the whole family. The center has a collection of 500 pieces of aerospace-related exhibition works, a 3D theater, an outdoor theme park, a dinosaur forest, a year-round sledding slope, a water pool and many more.

Daheeyeon Garden
Jeju-do(Jeju-si) , Former Jeju

Dahiyeon Garden (formerly known as Gyeongdeokwon) is a major tea farm on Jeju Island, which has the best conditions for growing great tea. The Evergreen Luce outdoor garden was built inside the cave formed naturally. It has ponds, bridges, indigenous trees and flowers. The Eve hall can be only reached after passing through a tunnel-like cave. The two cafes, located on top of Dahiyeong (Green Luce Garden) and the entrance (Eve Hall), serve naturally fermented green tea bread, cookies, green tea latte and green tea juice.

Deogyusan Resort Sledding Hills

Deogyusan Resort sledding Hills (former Muju Resort) possesses 5,900 sleds with a slope of 125m in length. There are separate slopes for adults and children. It prides upon its internationally acknowledged history of hosting the 1997 Winter Universiade games under the gaze of the world. This sledding Hills is used as a snow hill in winter and a grass and water sledding hill in other seasons.

Yangdong Market
Gwangju(Seo-gu)

The Yangdong Market started in the 1910s as a traditional market held on the 2nd and 7th of every month on the white sand beach under Gwangjugyo Bridge. In the 1940s, the market moved to its current location, and was renovated to become the marketplace we know and love today.Covering an area of approximately 1,253㎡, the Yangdong Market is the largest traditional market in the Honam Region (the Southwestern region of Korea). There are four buildings in total and 340 stores selling a variety of items including fruit and vegetables, seafood, manufactured goods, and more. Yangdong Market is especially famous for its Jesa products (those related to Korean ancestral memorial service) and quality items for newly-weds. The market closes on every first and third Sunday from April to September but is open every day from October to March.During the May 18th Democratization Movement, both Yangdong and Daein markets were a grand venue where the citizens of Gwangju gathered together to rally for democratization of the nation. Merchants of the markets provided food, beverages, and medicine to the protestors and participated in the movement alongside their fellow citizens. One of the most well-known places in Yangdong market is Hana Bunsik (Noh Moo-hyun Gukbab) restaurant. It started to become famous after the late President Noh visited the restaurant on Dec.14th, 2002, just 5 days before the presidential election.

Historical Site of Dr. Wangin
Jeollanam-do(Yeongam-gun)

The hometown of Wangin Baksa (Wangin, the Great Scholar) is located at the foot of Munpilbong Peak to the east of Gurim village. Due to Wangin’s importance and contributions to Korean history, this historical attraction is preserved and maintained in honor of his memory and achievements.Seonggidong is the official birthplace of Dr. Wangin (marked by the Yuheobi memorial monument) and is also home to Seongcheon; the well Wangin is believed to have drunk from. Halfway up Mt. Wolchulsan are Chaekgul, Munsanjae and Yangsajae where Wangin is said to have studied as well as nurtured local pupils. To commemorate the significance of these areas, a memorial is held every March at Munsanjae and Yansanjae.In front of Chaekgul is a statue of Dr. Wangin which is said to symbolize his benevolent character. Just west of Seonggidong is Doljeonggogae, a hill from which it is believed Dr. Wangin made a sorrowful look back at his countrymen before leaving for Japan.Wangin departed for Japan from Sangdaepo, which at the time was an international trading port. The renowned Baekje scholar was beginning his journey at the request of Japanese Emperor Eungshin. He took with him ten books on the Analects of Confucius and a book of Cheonjamun, a text of one thousand Chinese characters. Over time, he earned the trust of the emperor and became instructor to the crown prince. Wangin is well-known for his part in the development of Japanese culture and his name appears often in Japanese history. Wangin educated beyond textbooks and made great contributions to the development of arts, crafts and music and is revered as the originator of Japan’s Asuka culture.This historic site was originally reconstructed from 1985 to 1987 and is continually receiving improvements to improve accessibility for visitors.

Dolsandaegyo Bridge
Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

At 450m long and 11.7m wide, Dolsandaegyo Bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge in Korea. Since its construction in 1984, the bridge, which connects Yeosu and Dolsan-do Island, has brought commerce and tourism to the island. Today, the bridge itself has become a popular tourist destination, illuminated at night by exterior lighting from the marine park across from the island. On the Yeosu side of the bridge is an octagonal pavilion observatory overlooking the picturesque Yeosu Harbor, while on the other side is Dolsan-eup known as the raw fish town. Underneath the bridge on the Dolsan-eup side is a cruise ship dock, where visitors will find a replica of the noble Geobokseon (turtle-shaped ship), and may ride a cruise ship to Odongdo Island or Hyangilam Temple on the edge of Dolsan-do Island.

Mokpo Gatbawi Rock
Jeollanam-do(Mokpo-si)

Located on the coast of Yonghae-dong in Mokpo, Gatbawi is a natural sandstone and tafoni formation near the mouth of the Yeongsangang River, where freshwater runs into the sea. Gatbawi is named after its shape, which is said to look like a man wearing a traditional Korean hat called a “gat” (“bawi” meaning “rock”). The rock is actually made of two individual formations: one measuring 8m high and one 6m high. Valued not only for its aesthetics, Gatbawi Rock is of high geological value as a “natural sculpture” that was formed as a result of years of weathering. The rock formation was officially recognized as Natural Monument No. 500 on April 27, 2009.

Gyeongnam Culture & Arts Center
Gyeongsangnam-do(Jinju-si)

The Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center is a cultural space located along the Namgang River. A beautifully designed building inside and out, the center has a performance theater and two exhibition halls, making for a total seating capacity of 1,564 spread throughout its two floors. The glass walls on each of the four sides of the building and the glass elevator in the lobby afford a wide-open view of the river. On the rooftop is a resting area where visitors can overlooking the beautiful surrounding and soak in the melodies of nature.
