Wibong Falls
Jeollabuk-do(Wanju-gun)

Located in the eastern section of Wibongsanseong Fortress, Wibong Waterfall is a two-tiered waterfall measuring 60 meters high. The strangely-shaped rocks and thick groves of trees that border the cascading falls make for such a magical scene that it comes as no surprise that the waterfall has long since been counted as one of the Eight Splendid Landscapes of Wansan.Located nearby is the battlefield of the Ungchi War (designated as regional monument of Jeollabuk-do, No. 25) where the local people fought fiercely against Japanese invaders during the Imjin War. Also in the area are Songgwangsa Temple (at the foot of Jongnamsan Mountain), Dongsang Reservoir, Daea Reservoir, and Hwasim Hot Springs.

Dutayeon Falls

Dutayeon Falls (두타연) is located on a branch of the Suip Stream (수입천) that flows through Geonsol-ri (건솔리), Bangsan-myeon (방산면), which is north of the Civilian Control Line. The amount of water that flows into the pond is limited, but the surrounding forest provides superb and almost primeval scenery, while the pollution-free waters offer a habitat for Korea’s largest lenok population. Lenok are a species of freshwater fish under the official monitoring and control of the Korean government. A 20-meter screen of flat rocks surrounds the pond and the east wall features a 10-meter square cave, the floor of which is imprinted with the shape of a comb and horse harness.

Anmyeondo Beach Shrimp Festival

The Anmyeondo Beach Shrimp Festival is held every fall in Taean County, Chungcheongnam-do Province where the area is famous for harvesting enormous tiger prawns. During the festival, visitors can sample a variety of fresh shrimp as well as crab, gizzard shads (Herring), abalone, and clams at reasonable prices. The festival also offers a list of exciting programs such as celebrity guest performances, a fireworks show, singing contest, shrimp-peeling contest, and shrimp-catching contest.
