The National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts

The National Center for Korean Namdo Performing Arts is located at the skirt of Yeogwisan Mountain in Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do. In addition to its gorgeous mountain and coastal views, the center is well known for its critical role in preserving spreading the traditional Korean music and art of the southern regions of Korea through traditional music performances, cultural experiences and traditional music study programs. At the center, visitors can sign up for traditional music lessons or tour the facilities. Key facilities include a traditional Korean music theater called Jinakdang, outdoor concert halls called Dalbitmadang (Moonlight Square) and Byeolbitmadang (Starlight Square), a lodging facility named Sarangchae (with space for 160 people), and the Samuyeonseup Building, which includes practice rooms, seminar rooms, and a cafeteria. Various culture experience programs and traditional music programs are available, such as the “Friday Traditional Korean Music Performance” and the “Weekend Culture Experience,” in which families can come and experience the traditional culture of Namdo (southern Korea). The “Weekend Culture Experience Program” includes traditional Korean music performances, traditional music lessons, and the learning of traditional games, followed by a tour of Jindo-gun and nearby historical sites.

Yanggu Eco-Botanical Garden
Gangwon-do(Yanggu-gun)

First opened in June 2004, Yanggu Eco-Botanical Garden was built on a total area of 189,141㎡. 3.1 billion Korean won (approximately 3 million USD) was spent on the construction and it was built to be developed into a South and North Korean ecosystem restoration center. Located in the northernmost region of South Korea, it houses more than 400 rare plants including plants that are Korean native species and protected by Korean Ministry of Environment. The garden is divided into six parts by their features including Botanical garden, Natural forest, and facilities zone. In the Botanical garden, rare plants such as northern native plants and alpine plants that are naturally grown in the demilitarized zone (DMZ) and Yanggu area are displayed in one place. There are also walking trails, a medicinal plants exhibition hall, a plant nursery, and a greenhouse. Hwajinpo Aquarium
Gangwon-do(Goseong-gun)

Goseong-gun’s Hwajinpo Aquarium (화진포 해양박물관) is located in the Hwajinpo area of Gangwondo Province and consists of two exhibition rooms with one room featuring a total of 40,000 or 1,500 species shellfish including rare shellfish, crustaceans, coral, fossils and a stuffed specimens; and the other displaying 125 species of 3,000 fish living in fish tanks of varying sizes and shapes designed and equipped in accordance with the characteristics and habitats of each species of fish. There is a 300 ton overhead underwater tunnel on the first floor of the fish exhibition room. The second floor is home to the Ocean Beach and Beautiful East Sea Exhibitions; the Invertebrate Animal Center along with a 3-D Theater that shows films like "Hwajinpo Becomes a Lake", "Ocean Day", and the "Amazing Underwater Trip.
