Former Belgian Consulate Office

The Seoul Museum of Art (SeMA) Nam Seoul annex opened at the old Belgium consulate building on September 2, 2004. The old Belgium consulate building (Historic Site No. 254) was constructed in 1905 and restored in 1983. The building’s classical ionic columns and fireplaces have been kept intact, allowing the museum to serve as a tool for studying classic architecture of the 1900s as well as modern art. The blue-gabled building (measuring 1,569.58㎡) houses classrooms (B1) and exhibition halls and offices (1F-2F). Outside is a sculpture park. The Seoul Museum of Art has two annexes; the Gyeonghuigung annex and the Nam Seoul annex, which is used mainly for planned exhibitions and art education for children.

Yeongdeok Sunrise Festival

Hwasun Dolmen Site [UNESCO World Heritage]
Jeollanam-do(Hwasun-gun)

The Hwasun Dolmen Site is located near the waterfalls of the mountain pass linking Dogok-myeon of Hyosan-ri and Chunnyang-myeon of Daesin-ri. According to experts, 135 of the 980 stones in Dogok-myeon Hyosan-ri are dolmen. There are also about 100 damaged stone tables that still maintain their original form. What makes the Hwasun dolmens special is that in such a small district there are as many as 596 dolmen, including Korea’s biggest stone table. Acknowledging the importance of the cultural assets, the Hwasun Dolmen Site was registered as World Heritage No. 997 in year 2000 along with Gochang and Ganghwa Dolmens.

Ulsan Daegok Museum

Ulsan Daegok Museum displays artifacts that were uncovered from the areas of Daegok-ri during the construction of Daegok Dam. Approximately 13,000 relics were excavated during land inspection prior to the dam construction, including Hasamjeong Ancient Tomb. These findings were collected and became available for public display when the museum opened on June 24, 2009.

Garosugil Homestay, located in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, is a domestic-style guest house. The owner, who worked as a Japanese interpreter for 37 years, established the guest house after his/her daughter’s marriage, offering guests the highest level of comfort and an excellent standard of communication in Japanese. It has a communal kitchen equipped with various cooking utensils including a variety of plates and bowls that are suitable for different dishes. All the bedding is cotton. As used bedding will be washed and ironed perfectly, the guest house only accepts guests for a minimum of two nights. Garosu-gil Road, which is a hotspot among young people in Seoul, is only three minutes’ walk away from the guest house. In addition, it offers easy access to public transportation as it is only five minutes from the nearest bus stop and seven minutes from the nearest subway station by foot. Room B, which is slightly larger than Room A, has an extended terrace.

Samsung Transportation Museum (삼성화재 교통박물관)

The museum displays a collection of over 700 world-famous pieces including 50 cars, 15 motorcycles, bicycles, horse-drawn carriages, and other transportation-related articles such as vehicle prototypes, parts, hood ornaments, souvenirs, and artwork. There are many hands-on programs for visitors to learn about transportation safety.
