Boryeong Beach Special Tourist Zone

The Boryeong Beach Special Tourist Zone consists of three major attractions: Daecheon Beach, Muchangpo Beach and Jukdo Island. The 3.5-kilometer-long, 100-meter-wide Daecheon Beach is known for its annual Boryeong Mud Festival, which attracts about 2 million domestic and international tourists for its mud festivities. The soft, white sand and lush pine trees also make this an idyllic beach to visit. Various accommodations can easily be found here since the area has been a popular tourist destination for quite some time. Located south of Daecheon Beach, Muchangpo Beach is where you can witness a sea-parting phenomenon in the summer. The 1.5-kilometer “Mystic Sea Road” between Muchangpo Beach and Seokdaedo Island reveals itself when the sea levels go down due to the difference in the ebb and flow of the tides. During the sea parting, visitors will be able to catch clams, crabs and shellfish. The beach also offers a breathtaking view of the sunset. Jukdo Island is located midway between Daecheon Beach and Muchangpo Beach. This unpopulated fishing island is known for its dense groves of bamboo trees. The waters in front of the island are clean and full of fish, drawing a large number of visitors for sea fishing. The place offers an array of hands-on programs at the original site of Hancheon Elementary School which was the educational institute for 30 years in Hancheon-ri, Sangwol-myeon, Nonsan-si before being remodeled as a multi-cultural art space in June, 2011.

Chuncheon Art Festival

Even though the mottos were unfamiliar when they started, the Chuncheon Art Festival has been held in August for the past 11 years under the mottos of 'Voluntary participation' and 'Talent Donation'. The festival grew from 'Chuncheon Dance Festival' in 2002, where all of the staff and performers participated for free and like today didn’t charge for visitors to view their performances. The festival used to be held in Chuncheon Children's Center until its 10th year when it moved the venue to the Festival Theater Momzit (축제극장몸짓), which allows a wider range of programs from indoor performances to outdoor movie screenings and workshops. Since a lot of artists' shows are of a high level, the festival has become known as one of the best summer festivals in Chuncheon.

Seoul International Book Fair
