Ganghwa Anglican Church (대한성공회 강화성당)

Ganghwa Anglican Church was consecrated in 1900 by Charies Jone Corfe, the First Bishop of the Church as the St. Peter and St.Paul’s Church. The church has since undergone several restorations, but the design remains true to the original. The two-story 4x10 rectangular building is characterized by traditional Korean construction style on the outside while the interior is a Western Basilica style symbolizing the beauty of harmony and Korean tradition. It was first designated as Gyeonggi-do Tangible Cultural Property No. 154 and then became Incheon Tangible Cultural property when Ganghwa was included in Incheon Metropolitan City. In January 2001 it was designated as Historic Site No.424 of Korea.

Hinokijam is a two-story traditional Japanese wooden house accommodation located on Modern Culture and History Street of Gunsan. The guesthouse is unique in that you can experience the modern cultural and history as well as the quiet and still atmosphere of Japan in South Korea. As it is located on Modern Culture and History Street, most guests staying at the guesthouse are travelers without a car. It also offers affordable room rates. There is a total of seven guest rooms in Hinokijam. Since the guest rooms have slightly different structures, you should check the details before confirming the booking. The Kkotnimbang and Sarangbang rooms are big enough for two guests and the Dalnimbang room is big enough for three guests. All of the guest rooms are ondol rooms. Only the Kkotnimbang room has a bathroom outside. The Sarangbang and Dalnimbang rooms have bathrooms inside. The Gureumbang and Byeolnimbang rooms, and the Haneulbang room on the second floor can accommodate four guests. The Haetnimbang room, which is the largest room, can accommodate from four to eight guests. The guest rooms for four people or more have beds and bathrooms. Apart from the Haetnimbang room, all guest rooms have basic room rates for one guest. In the morning, the guesthouse provides simple breakfast with toast and beverages. Gunsan Modern History Museum, Jinpo Marine Park, Dongguksa Temple, Gunsan History Museum, and Teddy Bear Museum are within walking distance from the guesthouse. On Modern Culture and History Street, you can find Leesungdang, the oldest bakery in South Korea, and Jjambbong Street.

In addition, it offers guests an opportunity to swim and play in the shallow depths of the Hongcheongang River and walk along the beautiful Palbongsan Mountain hiking course. Moreover, it is adjacent to such renowned tourist attractions as Gugok Falls (near Bonghwasan Mountain; 30 minutes’ drive), which twist and turn nine times before plunging sharply downwards,; and Vivaldi Park Ocean World, which is a popular resort packed with thrilling and exciting attractions. The pension has five guestrooms – Sarang-bang 1 and 2 on the first floor, and Hwangto-bang 1, 2, and 3 on the ground floor. Sarang-bang 1 is equipped with a large living room, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and fireplace (only for winter), while Sarang-bang 2 is composed of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an outdoor table, and a karaoke (norae-bang) facility. Hwangtobang 1, 2, and 3 are built with red clay. Hwangto-bang 1 is equipped with a living room and a bedroom; Hwangto-bang 2 with a living room and two bedrooms; and Hwangto-bang 3 consists of one room. All of the rooms are equipped with a bathroom, kitchen, air conditioner, fridge, and toiletries. The pension is also a great place for large family meetings and company workshops as well as for friends or couples. The pension is also famous for its buffet style of breakfast, which includes rice and soup cooked by the host with local organic ingredients. Guests can also request a dinner cooked according to their preferences. Its most popular dishes include BBQ, chicken soup with rice, spicy stir-fried chicken and others dishes prepared according to guests’ preferences. The breakfast costs KRW 7,000 per person, while the dinner menu and cost can be discussed when making a reservation. The pension recommends that guests spend a whole day in the hanok’s peaceful natural environment. Guests can set up a tent on the pension’s outdoor lawn, watch a movie, enjoy a BBQ party, and make a campfire at night to create romantic memories. Cheongansa Temple

Sitting at the foot of a mountain near Ganeusil Village, Cheongansa Temple belongs to the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. It had been believed to have been built in 1900, but the roof tile and white porcelain pieces from the mid-Joseon Dynasty period found near the temple suggested that it might have been built even earlier. Cheongsansa had also been thought to be a branch of Biamsa Temple, which is presumably built in the 7th century during the late Baekje Kingdom period.
