Sokcho Tourist & Fishery Market

Having recently changed its name to Tourist & Fishery Market (formerly Jungang Market), this market was opened in 1982, and is comprised of around 450 stores throughout 1 basement level and 2 above-ground levels. It covers a total floor area of 15,436 ㎡. Fishery items and hoetjip (raw fish restaurants) are located on the basement level, and general whole sales and retail sales, such as food and clothes, are available on the first and second floors. In addition, many of Sokcho's famous snacks like dak-gangjeong (sweet and sour chicken) are found at many of the stalls inside the market.

Vivaldi Park Ocean World

Ocean World is located in Vivaldi Park resort on the slopes of Mt Palbongsan in the Hongcheon region of Gangwon-do province. Vivaldi Park resort is internationally renowned for its ski facilities, but they are not the only attraction in the resort, Ocean World Water Park is also very popular. The park covers 120,982,200 sq ft, which is 14 times bigger than a soccer field, and it can accommodate up to 18,000 people at the same time. It is designed to look like an oasis in the middle of the Egyptian desert, in order to give visitors the experience of a cool, refreshing swim under the bright sun. Ocean World even features a large Sphinx and pyramid, giving visitors a sense of Egypt’s mysterious past. Ocean World has many thrilling and exciting attractions. These include the 300 meter-long Extreme River, which has fast-flowing currents, Surfing Mount, where waves reach up to 2.4-meters, Family Raft Slide, Spa Village, and Angel’s pool. Ocean World is divided into various zones: Indoor Zone, Extreme Zone, and Dynamic Zone, which opened in May 2009. The new zone features the very popular Monster Blaster, Super Boomerango, and Giant Waterplex water slides. In addition to the water rides, there is a Jjimjilbang (a Korean-style sauna), a shopping mall, and restaurants.

The KTO Seoul Office also holds experiential cultural programs such as playing traditional folk games, sharing Korean names, and more. These programs are held all year round, however may be limited on some days of the events like Korean public holidays, therefore visitors are recommended to check the up-to-date information from the official website in advance. Visitors are also able to use its other sections open for all visitors, including a hall offering medical tourism and other complimentary medicinal services to foreigners, 'K-Star Zone' a hallyu experience center, travel agencies, and other facilities suited to the interests of tourists.

Past names of Jeoldusan Martyrs’ Shrine included Yongdubong (Dragon Head Peak) and Jamdubong (Silkworm Head Peak), but was renamed in 2000.Jeoldusan Martyrs' Shrine is the site of the Byeonin Persecution of 1866, where many Roman Catholics were brutally murdered.This site was built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Byeonin Persecution and to remember the spirit of martyrdom at Jeoldusan.The Martyrs’ Museum and Martyrs’ Memorial were built in 1967, and in 1972 Martyrs’ Park was opened to the public. Pope John Paul Ⅱ visited in the site in 1984 and Mother Teresa visited in 1985.
