High1 Resort

Named to reflect the concept “first and foremost,” High1 is a multi-cultural leisure resort consisting of High1 Resort, Gangwon Land Convention Hotel, Gangwon Land Casino, Gangwon Land Hotel, High1 Ski, High1 C.C, High1 Hotel, Valley Condominium, and Mountain Condominium. Chilgapsan Ice Fountain Festival

Chilgapsan Mountain was called the Alps of Chungcheongnam-do. Nestled at the foot of the peak of Chilgapsan Mountain, Cheonjang-ri Alps Village is located at a high degree as its name ‘Cheonjang’ (천장; ceiling) suggests. The village includes the trail path of Chilgapsan Mountain, Cheonjang Lake, Cheonjang Lake suspension bridge, Rural and Urban Interchange Center, international standard-sized stadium, restaurant, swimming pool, educational center, horse-riding center, and holiday villas (also known as pensions). Various festivals like Ice Fountain Festival, International Calabash Festival, and Chilgapsan Mountain Bean Festival are also held in this village.Ice Fountain Festival is held in the area of the Alps Villages in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do from December to February with seven different themes. Every corner of the venue has ice fountains, and snow sculptures that add an even more winter ambience to the festival. Snow sledding, ice sledding and bobsleigh are available for all visitors to ride. In addition, there are some traditional activities such as rice-planting machine sledding, eating roasted chestnut picked from Chilgapsan Mountain, and many others where visitors can be experience and enjoy the taste of the rural feelings.* Some programs may be canceled depending on the weather conditions. OME Cooking Lab

The ingredients used for cooking of the home meals at OME Cooking Lab are bought from the Seoul Yangnyeong Market and Gyeongdong Traditional Market. It is a one-day cooking class whereby the participants will first be brought to tour the local markets mentioned to experience the local culture, interact with the vendors as they shop for the ingredients required for cooking, and later dine in a traditional style Korean house after cooking.

Yongmunsa Temple(Yongmunsan Mountain)

Yongmunsa Temple (용문사) is located about 9km northeast from Yongmun station on the Jungang line. It was built during the Silla Kingdom and reconstructed during the reign of King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty. It was badly damaged during the Korean War, but was restored and now consists of three buildings, the main hall, daeungjeon, and the bell tower. Its courtyard contains the largest gingko tree in the East, which is 1,100 years old, measures 60m in x_height and 14m in circumference and is designated and protected as natural monument no. 30. Legend says the great Buddhist monk Uisang, who lived during the Silla Kingdom, stuck his staff in the earth, and the tree grew out of the simple staff.

Haegang Ceramics Museum

The Haegang Ceramics Museum (해강도자미술관) is Korea’s first museum dedicated to ceramics. It displays beautiful ceramic works, the very essence of traditional Korean art, including the celebrated celadon porcelain, as well as punch’ong ware and white porcelain. The main building, which is a combination of Eastern and Western architecture, offers something to see in and of itself. The museum was founded by the late Yu Geun-hyeong (pen name Haegang) and his son Yu Gwang-yeol (pen name Haegang) in the spring of 1990; it fosters the inherited traditions of Korean ceramics culture and strives to develop it further. In addition to exhibiting and preserving traditional ceramics, the museum is engaged in various academic activities, and publishes relevant materials as well. It contributes to cultural preservation and development by educating Korea’s youth and public about ceramics. As of now, it has become an attached gallery to an international university.
