National Maritime Museum
Jeollanam-do(Mokpo-si)

The National Maritime Museum is the only domestic marine museum. Opened in 1994, it is a 2-story building with a B1 floor. There are 4 main exhibit halls and one special exhibit hall. At Exhibition 1, "Underwater Cultural Heritage from Wando," about 3,000 Goryeo ceramic relics excavated from just off the Eoduri sea, Wando district, and the Wooden ship of the Goryeo (918~1392) dynasty are exhibited. The Wando ship is a model of the original boat, half the size of the original ship. You can view the landscape around the old sea and learn about the world’s marine excavation history in this exhibition hall. At Exhibition 2, “Underwater Cultural Heritage from Sinan," you can view 22,000 pieces of 14th century Chinese ships, crockery and golden-ware. At Exhibition 3, "The Life of a Korean Fishing Village," you can learn about the traditional fishing techniques and tools, and you can view the living conditions of those times. It is interesting to compare the fishing methods of today to the past. And at Exhibition 4, "Korean Traditional Boats," you can see the development of Korean shipping and shipbuilding. There are many models displayed, from the ships of the Goryeo dynasty to the oilers of today. The rabbit and turtle shaped ships are quite eye-catching. When you have finished touring all the exhibit halls, take a stroll down the lounge to the souvenir shop to relax. On clear warm days, it is soothing to sit in the lounge under the warm sun. The sunshine coming through the window is brilliant. After a break, you can go outside to the outdoor exhibit, and enjoy seeing more traditional ships. Wangsan Beach

Ieyoung Contemporary Art Museum is a personal collection of art that features valuable works centered on humanitarianism. Entering the eco-friendly exhibition space, you will be met by works of contemporary masters, ranging from sculptures to Oriental and Western paintings. In addition to exhibitions, the gallery also holds hands-on art programs for children.The gallery is home to the largest collection of works by Park Sang-Gwang, a patriotic painter. In 2004, to mark the 100th anniversary of Park’s birth, the gallery created a foundation with the dual purpose of studying Park and his works and indentifying undiscovered traditional artists in Korea. Ever since the establishment of the foundation, the gallery had increased in both collection size and quantity year after year.

This bakery opened in 1989 as “Samik Bakery (삼익제과),” and later changed its name to OPS in 1994. As the main branch of OPS, the Namcheondong branch has been serving fresh and 100% handmade bakery products for the past 24 years. Drinks and beverages on the menu include fresh fruit juice and chocolat chaud (hot chocolate), as well as other seasonal specialties including patbingsu (red-bean sherbet) and zenzai (red bean soup).

Mouse Rabbit

European café Mouse Rabbit with a white terrace is a café run by Super Junior’s Yesung and his brother.  The store with 3 floors with different atmosphere and charm provides the fun of selecting floors and tables according to taste. The basement floor, called "rabbit hole" and "underworld," has tables and furnaces, enabling comfortable rest with low lamination.  There is the first floor with the counter and the outer terrace, and the second floor with stores decorated with various decorations and figures. The various art products of paper toys, cell phone cases, mug cups, and eco bags designed and produced by hand by Mouse Rabbit is popular with its fans.  Mouse Rabbit was named after the animals mouse and rabbit representing Yesung and his brother running the café.  The showcase within the store is full of Yesung’s pictures, and because you can purchase art products manufactured by Mouse Rabbit, fans are unceasingly visiting the café.  At the end of 2015, with the popularity of Mouse Rabbit’s Konkuk University Store, the second store of Mouse Rabbit was opened at Seochon, a new hotplace selling coffee, beer, handmade desserts and snacks.

Biseondae Rocks

Biseondae is about a 300-meter walk along the mountain stream from Waseondae Rock. The view is quite beautiful, and after rainfall water cascades down large boulders. The name ‘Biseondae’ derives from the legend of a fairy who flew up into the heavens while admiring the area’s beautiful scenery. The grand scenery of rocks and cliffs seem like they are touching the heavens, and Biseondae has inspired many poets and scholars through the ages. Some of their writings have been engraved on the rocks and are preserved to this day. The trail from Sogongwon to Biseondae is an easy 3 kilometers and takes approximately 50 minutes.
