Duryunsan Cable Car
Jeollanam-do(Haenam-gun)

Duryunsan Mountain (703m) is a famous mountain in Jeolanam-do. With its eight peaks, it is a home to many temples and historic sites. The mountain also holds great importance in plant chorology as its forests consist of warm-temperate broad-leaved evergreens and deciduous broad-leaved trees. The mountain peak can be reached by trekking for about 2-3 hours from the entrance of Daeheungsa Temple or by the Daeryunsan Cable Car (one way 8-minute), which departs from the entrance on the opposite side of the mountain and takes visitors to a spot right below the peak. From the mountain summit, there is a view of the three sides of Dadohae (Sea of Many Islands) and on a clear day, it is possible to see as far as Mt. Hallasan on Jeju Island. Nearby tourist attractions include Uhangri Dinosaur Museum Complex, Usuyeong Tourism Village and Ttangkkeut Village.

Okpo Great Victory Commemorative Park
Gyeongsangnam-do(Geoje-si)

Okpo Great Victory Commemorative Park was built in 1996 to commemorate the victory of national hero, Admiral Yi Sun-sin who fought against the Japanese in the invasion of Korea from 1592~1598.Admiral Yi Sun-sin torpedoed 26 out of 50 Japanese ships gaining victory in the Okpo naval battle.A memorial hall, shrine, tower and Okporu Pavilion are located at the commemorative park. The Turtle Ship, an ironclad warship shaped like a turtle, swords crafted in the Joseon tradition, and other remains are displayed at the memorial hall. Admiral Yi Sun-sin’s picture can be seen at the shrine.On top of the 30 meter high tower and Okporu Pavilion, visitors can enjoy ocean vistas as well as a view of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd.Entrance to the breakwater is not permitted for safety reasons.

Mok-A Museum

The Mok-A Museum, designated as intangible cultural asset No. 108, was established by Park Chan-su with the purpose of handing down traditional Buddhist art and traditional woodcraft techniques. The four-story museum contains an outdoor sculpture park.The exhibition displays that remain include Buddhist statues, paintings and sculptures, as well as the works of director Park Chan-su, including many Buddhist woodcrafts. The outdoor sculpture park displays Buddhist statues such as Mireuksamjondaebul, Birojanabul, Baeuigwaneum, and a three-story pagoda.

Taebaek Guwau Village

Guwau Village is located below Pijae Hill (also called Samsuryeong) at the entrance to Maebongsan Mountain. Gangwon-do's Jeongseon 5-Day Market is the place to go to if you would like to buy mountain herbs. The generosity of the market's citizens can be felt while exploring the grounds for its famous wild greens during spring, and medicinal herbs in the autumn.Jeongseon Market's specially featured product is the Goraengji, a vegetable that grows in mountainous regions or on plateaus at 500~700m above sea level. There are also many unique dishes in Gangwon-do that will catch your eye or whet your appetite. One delectable item is a dish made with buckwheat (or somtimes with corn flower) noodles, but be careful, as it is called Kotdeungchigi (hit the nose), because people would pull on the noodles too hard when eating and get hit in the nose. In order to experience the full atmosphere of the country market, you must try drinking a bowl of corn makgeolli (Korean wine), a specialty of Gangwon-do, and eating a bowl of Kotdeungchigi noodles while sitting on a mat.To get to the Jeongseon Market, take the Jeongseon 5-Day Market Train from Cheongnyangni Station, departing at 8:10am, for a 4hr ride to Jeongseon Station that arrives at around 12:00pm. Jeongseon Market is a 15min walk from Jeongseon Station.
