Daejeonghyanggyo Confucian School
Jeju-do(Seogwipo-si) , Seogwipo

Daejeonghyanggyo is a Confucian school during Joseon Dynasty. Although the exact date of construction is uncertain, it is estimated that the building was built at around the same time as Daejeonghyeon in 1416. The school was originally located inside Bukseong. It moved outside Dongmun and then moved again to the site of Seoseong. It was moved to Dansan Oreum where it remains to this day. At present, Daejeonghyanggyo Confucian School consists of Daeseongjeon, Myeongryundang, Dongjae, Seojae Shinsammun, Daeseongmun, Dongmalmun and Dongjeongmun. Daeseongjeon was remodeled in 1669, 1688, and 1752. Myeongryundang was rebuilt in 1772. After several instances of remodeling and rebuilding, Daeseongjeon was remodeled again in 1993. The Confucian school was designated as Jeju Tangible Cultural Asset No. 4 in August 1971.

The Geumgang Migratory Bird Observatory is located at Geumgang Estuary (Gunsan-si), one of the country’s most representative sites for migratory birds. With Geumgangho Lake, wide spreads of farmland, and an abundance of reeds and tidelands, the estuary draws flocks of migratory birds each winter.From the Migratory Bird Observatory, the first of its kind in Korea, visitors can watch birds in their natural habit. For an even deeper look at the patterns of these feathered travelers, the museum has on display bird specimens and exhibits depicting the hatching of bird eggs. Other facilities include the Geumgang Bird Park and the Ecological Center.In autumn of every year, the Gunsan International Migratory Bird Festival takes place at the Geumgang Migratory Bird Observatory, Geumgangho Lake, and Saemangeum area. One of the most popular programs at the festival is the bird-watching tour. The sight of tens of thousands of migratory birds flying overhead is truly astounding. The tour runs from the festival period all the way until the end of February.

The pension's exterior looks like Europe style's wooden house but has the traditional style's roof. Dasup Pension has total 20 rooms including the standard rooms and pension rooms. As the pension room with cooking utensils, there are 9 rooms (26 pyong, 20 pyong, 18 pyong, 15 pyong). The room is equipped with TV, fridge, bedding, cooking facility, dining table, electric rice cooker, toilet and shower. The standard rooms include the bed-room and Ondol room. As auxiliary facilities, there are the open-air cooking area, outdoor banquet are BBQ facility. Nearby, there are Deokyusan national park, Jeoksang mountain, Muju resort, and Muju Gucheondong as tourist spots. Many people visit the area so they can say they’ve stepped on the end of the land and it has long become a prime destination in Haenam.At the summit of Sajabong peak there is an observatory that stands 38m high. From the observatory you can get a full viewing of the Dalmasan Mountain in the north while in the east, fishing vessels can be seen skirting deftly on the surface of the sea. Atop the summit of Sajabong peak, there is a restored old beacon (Bonghwadae) which in the past was strategically located to warn of approaching Japanese ships. In the village proper, the area known as Ttangkkeut Village (땅끝마을), special events take place to celebrate the end of year and the first day of the New Year, which also draws many tourists to the area from all over the country.

Gameunsaji
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gyeongju-si)

Gameunsaji (Gameunsa Temple Site) was built by King Munmu (AD 661-681), the king of Silla who unified Baekjae and Goguryeo late in the 7th century. Except for the 13.4 high two pagodas, all the buildings were burned to the ground. King Munmu built this temple to drive away the Japanese pirates from the country with the power of Buddha. Unfortunately, he passed away before the completion of the the temple, and asked to burry him at the East Sea, which is 500m far from the temple. Being a sacred dragon of the East Sea, he wanted to protect the county after his death. Therefore he was burried at sea near the temple. His son King Sinmun (AD 681-692) completed the temple and named it Gameunsa Temple, which implies appreciating paternal love.The Three-story Stone Pagodas The east and the west pagodas of Gameunsaji (Gameunsa Temple Site) are structurally identical and are designated as National Treasuer No. 112. These stone pagodas were made during the early years of the Unified Silla Kingdom. The two 13.4 high pagodas are the highest three-story stone pagodas of the Silla Era and are known for its symmetry.
