Sinseong-ri Reed Field

As one of Korea’s top four fields of reeds, Sinseong-ri Reed Field (nearly 60,000 pyeong) has also been popularized as a filming location of the mega-hit Korean movie, “JSA.” To protect the natural environment, only 2-3% of the entire area of field of reed has been developed into a park. About 100,000 migratory birds (40 species) pass through every winter (especially in December and January). In fall, the golden fields of reeds create a romantic atmosphere along the banks of the glittering Geumgang River. Hajodae Unmanned Light House
Gangwon-do(Yangyang-gun)

The Hajodae lookout sits along a cliff with an old pine tree and overlooks the East Sea. Legend has it the name Hajodae came from the first initials of Haryun and Jojun, two of the founding members of Joseon Dynasty who stayed nearby during one of their journeys. The place is also famous as a TV drama filming spot of Taejo Wanggeon. A walk along the cliff will lead to a white lighthouse near the overpass beside Hajodae. A number of tourists also visit Hajodae for the beautiful sunrisesand the beam of light from the lighthouse that appears when darkness falls.

Gaesimsa Temple
Chungcheongnam-do(Seosan-si)

Situated in a dense forest in Sangwangsan Mountain (altitude: 307m) and located 6km away from Haemi-myeon, Gaesimsa Temple is one of four temples in the province of Chungcheongnam-do. The path from a parking lot to the temple site is quite remote and curved, but beautiful especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom.The temple was built in 1484 during the 15th year of King Seongjong and designated as Treasure No. 143. Visitors can easily recognize the temple, as it uses bent tree trunks for pillars.

Pig Museum
Gyeonggi-do(Icheon-si) , Icheon

Located in Icheon City, Gyeonggi-do, the Pig Museum is the first of its kind in Asia. Village chief and an expert of pig artificial insemination Lee Jong-yeong founded the museum in November 14, 2011. Some 5,000 pig-related articles from 18 different countries are on exhibit. Visitors can also enjoy pig performances and participate in hands-on experience programs such as making sausage.

Gapgotdondae Fortification
Incheon(Ganghwa-gun) , Ganghwado Island

Gapgot Fortification was built in 1679 to protect the Ganghwa Straits from invasions. A highly strategic location for the Goryeo Kingdom, the site had also endured multiple invasions by the Mongolian troops between 1232 and 1270. The eight cannons that were set up at the time of the fortification construction are displayed at the site.
