Yongpyong Water Park

Within winter skiers’ Mecca, Gangwon-do Pyeongchang-gun Yongpyong Resort, summer targeted water park, Peak Island, is opening. Peak Island is located at Korea’s highest above the sea level of 700m which consists of one basement floor and four ground floors. As main facilities there are beach pool, sweat chamber, Kid’s pool, running water pool, open-air theme pool, slides, sauna, and various events are available. In addition, with waterfall ice cave, it is possible to enjoy winter’s snow falling ambiance just as Finland’s winter.

Hwayang Valley
Chungcheongbuk-do(Goesan-gun)

Hwayang Valley, located 32km east from Cheongju, was designated Songnisan National Park in 1975.The vivid green mountains and clear waters make it a highly sought after tourist spot. The nearby Seonnyudong Valley, just 7km away, is also a huge draw for travelers.Hwayang Valley is composed of various shaped rocks such as Cheomseongdae Observatory, Neungundae Observatory, Waryongam Rock and Eupgungam Rock. Well-known statesman from the Joseon Dynasty, Song Si-yeol, visited the valley and wept for King Hyojong offering his final bow. This rock where he cried was then named Eupgungam Rock meaning ‘crying bow’ Rock. Waryongam Rock gets its name from its shape, which is said to look like a wriggly dragon. Cheomseongdae Observatory was used in order to forecast weather patterns.

Ulsan Onggi Festival

The Ulsan Onggi Festival offers a fun array of hands-on programs which let visitors learn about how to craft pottery. The National Onggi Craft Contest during the festival is a wildly popular event attracting many visitors. Saturday Premium Performance

‘Saturday Premium Performance’ takes place 50 times this year from January 7 through December 29. Seventeen different kinds of programs consisting of traditional music, dance, and singing performances will be performed throughout the year. Nine programs are suitable for people who have never experienced Korean traditional performing arts before. They consist of court music, solo performances, solo court music performances, traditional dance, folk dance, and play. These nine programs will be staged 38 times total.There will also be six masters’ programs comprised of performances of the maestros of Gugak (Korean traditional music), traditional dance, and play. Each program will be performed only once. Two intangible cultural asset programs also will be performed, consisting of Korean intangible cultural assets that have been added to the UNESCO Intangible Heritage List. They will be performed three times each.Whether you are new to Gugak or an avid lover of Gugak, the Saturday Premium Performance offers performances for everyone.

Yangpyeong Strawberry Festival
