Jeollabuk-do(Buan-gun)

A 1-kilometer walk north along the beach from the Chaeseokgang Cliffs brings you past Jukmak Village to the famed Jeokbyeokgang Cliffs. As you pass the village you’ll see a grove of silver magnolias (Natural Monument No. 123) that serve as a windbreak. The Jeokbyeokgang Cliffs stretch 2 kilometers from the village along the shoreline to Yongdusan Mountain and are said to resemble their namesake, the Jeokbyeokgang River in China.

Established and run by the Goeun Foundation, the Goeun Museum of Photography and the Goeun Contemporary Photo Museum are located in Haeundae, Busan and are the first photography museums founded outside of the capital city of Seoul. The museums aim to offer more cultural opportunities to visitors by collecting real and valuable works representing both Korean and international artists. The venue also acts in the discovery and support of new and up-and-coming artists. Goeun Museum of Photography has an exhibit room on the 2nd floor, as well as a seminar room and a photo library on the 1st floor. Goeun Contemporary Photo Museum has 3 different spaces for exhibitions, mainly concentrated on contemporary photo works.


Gyeonggi-do(Yeoncheon-gun)

Typhoon Observatory was built on December 3, 1991 by Invincible Typhoon Korean Army. The observatory is situated on the highest peak, Suribong Peak, in Bikkisan Mountain. It is located 65km and 140 km from Seoul and Pyeongyang respectively. It is famous in that the location is the closest to the Military Demarcation Line, being only 800m and 1,600m away from the MDL and North Korean checkpoint respectively. The observatory houses a christian church, catholic church, statue of the Virgin Mary, buddhist sanctum, belfry and other facilities where soldiers are able to participate in religious ceremonies. Also, Manghyangbi Monument for displaced person, Monument for Korean War, and Boy’s Tank Corps Memorial can be seen in the area. The Exhibition Hall presents daily necessities collected from Pilseunggyo Bridge of Imjingang in North Korea and some detection equipment that armed espionage agents used when they did infiltration after the ceasefire.

The road is 16.5 kilometers long and gives a beautiful view of the Chilsan Sea. During sunset, beautiful colors along the west coast draw crowds of visitors all year round.
