Naejangsan in Jeongeup is also known as the best place to enjoy autumn leaves. Another worthwhile destination is the city’s National Bullfighting Festival, which features Korea’s unique bullfights. This is a great opportunity to learn about and experience Korea’s unique bullfighting tradition and the local cattle market. Designated as one of Korea’s Ten Best Regional Cultural & Tourism Festivals by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Bullfighting Festival has been recognized as a major Korean festival. Festival Overview: In its ninth consecutive year, the National Bullfighting Festival was previously held in May. However, it now is also held in autumn to coincide with the glorious autumn foliage season on Mt. Naejangsan. Unlike Spanish bullfights, in which a matador faces the bull, the Korean version of bullfighting has two bulls fighting against each other. Spectators shout enthusiastically as these powerful animals fight to win by pushing and goring their opponent. In addition to the Nationwide Bulls Championship Title Match, which is the main event, there will also be a program featuring a variety of pet animals and a cattle show as well as the photo exhibits. Festival Highlights: Jeongeup ranch and farm products are renowned for their high quality. Located near the bullfighting arena, a promotional pavilion and market sell Jeongeup’s hanu beef, and visitors can purchase high quality beef at inexpensive prices. Visitors will enjoy the festival’s ambience in the evening too when there will be a campfire and fireworks display.

Waemok Village

Surrounded by water on two sides, Waemok Village's terrain looks like a heron's neck, hence the name 'Waemok' (waegari means a gray heron and mok means neck). Muryangsa Temple

Muryangsa Temple, located at the foot of Mansusan Mountain in Buyeo-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, is said to have been built during the reign of Silla’s King Munmu by national preceptor Beomilguksa.Geungnakjeon Hall, Treasure No. 356, can be seen after passing through Sacheonwangmun Gate, recognizably the best location for taking in the beauty of Muryangsa Temple. The temple grounds hold the Two-story Geungnakjeon Hall, Five-story Stone Pagoda (Treasure No. 185), and Stone Lantern (Treasure No. 233), all in a row. Terracotta Seated Amitabha Triad at Muryang Temple in Buyeo, Treasure No. 1565, also shows off its dignity.The temple is also famous for being the place where Kim Siseup, one of the Saengyuksin (Six Loyal Subjects of the Joseon Dynasty), spent his last few days before death. Visitors can see his portrait inside the temple. Although the temple site is included in Buyeo-gun’s administrative district, it is located closer to downtown Boryeong.

Yeongdong Station

Yeongdong Station began operations as an ordinary station on January 1, 1905 and was newly rebuilt on June 1, 1996. Since beginning, the station has played an important role for traveling to nearby tourism spots such as Muju Gucheong-dong resort, Minjujisan Mountain, Mulhan Valleys, and Yangsan eight sightseeing spots, by carrying over 1,200 tourists a year. In addition, Yongdu Park, spanning over 61,000㎡ in area within a 5-minute walking distance, is great for a rest and a walk that attracts a lot of kindergarten students who visit Yeongdong Station for a train experience.
