Taebaeksan Mountain Cheonjedan
Gangwon-do(Taebaek-si)

Cheonjedan are altars set up by people a long time ago to offer goods to Heaven. In old records such as the Samguksagi (History of the Three Kingdoms), there are records that "The Silla Kingdom organized rituals in Taebaeksan Mountain, which it considered as a Bugak Mountain (Northern Mountain, one of the mountains for rituals)." This shows that Taebaeksan Mountain was considered to be a holy mountain in the past. Cheonjedan, or the altar, is situated at the summit of Taebaeksan Mountain. With Cheonwangdan altar in the center, there is the Janggundan Altar in the north and a smaller altar in the south. The altars are built by stacking stones, a sign of a sacred ground. The Cheonwangdan altar is made of natural stone. It has an oval shape and measures 27.5 meters in circumference, 3 meters tall, 7.76 meters wide, and 8.26 meters from front to back. The natural stone is a sort of gneiss, with the upper stone being round and the bottom stone rectangular. Such a form is based on the philosophy of Cheonwon Jibang. In the valleys nearby, there are small or large stacked stone pagodas and stone platforms, which were used for prayers. It is forbidden to kill wild animals or break off tree branches in the area.

Dalgi Yaksutang
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Cheongsong-gun)

Located only 5 minutes from Cheongsong-eup, Dalgi Yaksutang ("yaksu" meaning "medicinal water") is one of the top three "Yaksus" in Korea in terms of water quality. Water springs out of 10 different places along the valley and collects at Dalgi Waterfall on Mt. Juwang. The water runs all year round; it doesn't freeze during the winter and flows freely even during the dry season or during droughts. Even though the water does not have any color and aroma, rice boiled in this special water become bluish and sticky in texture. The water is naturally carbonated and tastes like soda without any sugar or flavor; it contains minerals such as carbon and iron and is said to be effective against anemia, digestive disorders, and skin irritation.One of the major nearby attractions is Mt. Juwangsan National Park, which many tourists visit in order to see the park’s unique rock formations and waterfalls. The area near the springs is also known for its variety of restaurants specializing in Baeksuk (stuffed chicken stew that has broth made of medicinal water).

FLYING - Hwarang Wonjeongdae

FLYING - Hwarang Wonjeongdae, a special edition of the original FLYING Silk Road, will be performed at Gyeongju World Culture Expo Park in a special performance hall as one of the events at Silk Road Gyeongju 2015. One of the leading non-verbal directors, Choi Cheolgi, who directed ‘Nanta,’ ‘Jump,’ ‘Bibap,’ and more also created this performance, starting from Gyeongju World Culture Expo in 2011 until now, performing for over 400,000 audience so far and gaining a lot of attention as a local permanent performance. The plot of FLYING - Hwarang Wonjeongdae features a Silla Hwarang, a type of warrior, trying to catch the escaping goblin, Dokkaebi, by teleporting to modern times through a time trap, arriving at Silla High School. The show is comprised of gymnastics, rhythm gymnastics, valley dance, B-boying, circus acts, as well as martial arts from Hwarang in the Silla Dynasty, creating various types of entertainment to watch and providing pleasure by the change of scenery through Silla, China, India, Persia, and Gyeongju.
