Gimje Horizon Festival, held from late September to early October every year since 1999, takes place at Byeokgolje Reservoir, which is the heart of the Honam rice bowl. The festival aims to show the importance of Korea’s farming culture, which is a foundation of the nation, with the theme of sky and land meeting at the horizon. The festival also aims to promote the regional image and economy. Many dynamic and active programs are available for festival-goers to participate in before the golden horizon.Byeokgolje, the largest irrigation facility in the world, built 1,700 years ago during Baekje (King Biryu, 330), is embraced by the city of Gimje. Thanks to Byeokgolje, the area of Gimje is the birth place of Korea’s rice farming and agricultural culture. During the Baekje period, it was called ‘Byeokgolgun’ (a village of rice) which came from the fact that this area was the first area to start rice farming.During the festival, domestic and overseas visitors can take part in various hands-on programs feeling Korean farming culture in Byeokgolje (Historic Site No. 111). Visitors of all ages can easily take part in these programs to educate, inspire, and enjoy with a theme of spacious plains to the horizon. Events include kite-flying, rice-farming, catching grasshoppers, Korea Straw and Plants handicraft, making rice over an open fire, and other activities to entertain visitors.

The annual music festival, Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF), is held Tongyeong-si under the various themes every year. The festival aims to select the musics that will be viewed to bridging the gap between art and audience, and among audiences. The festival presents official performances as well as side events that are relating to embracing muscial diversity, such as children's song competition, fringe performances, and workshops.

DDP Citizen’s Festival will be held to improve Dongdaemun’s image and activate the regional economy as a representative festival of Dongdaemun area. The festival includes a ceremony for a public ambassador, performances, exhibitions, hands-on programs, street art performances, an international food event, and many other programs. Visitors of all ages are welcome to take part in this open festival. The festival aims to build DDP’s own identification as the top place regarding design and creative knowledge.

Gamcheon Culture Village Street Festival is an annual event organized entirely by the local residents, from the planning stage to the operation. The festival offers a variety of new and exciting performances and cultural arts for visitors to enjoy. Gamcheon Culture Village was formed after the Korean war, when many refugees settled in the area, building houses one on top of the other. The area is now famous for its multi-colored roofs, maze-like streets, and the beautiful murals decorating the walls of each house. Festival programs include an alley tour, hands-on experiences to get to know the joys and sorrows of the village's history, and explanations on over 40 cultural art pieces throughout the village. Wandering through the streets and alleys, you will get to know the hidden stories of the grandfathers and grandmothers living here. Small performances will take place on the rooftops above, adding a lively feel to this unique festival.

The Yeosu Geobukseon Ship Festival, which takes place around Yi Sun-shin Square, provides an opportunity for locals and tourists to come together and enjoy a range of hands-on programs. In addition to the variety of traditional performances and ceremonies, main events include the Geobukseon Ship-drying event, a drawing contest, and a one-night, two-day historical tour program for teens. Yet another crowd-pleaser is the Yeosu International Fireworks Competition, a brilliant display held against the backdrop of the vast sea in front of Yi Sun-shin Square. Visitors can take home part of the magic by purchasing local products at discounted prices at the festival marketplace.

The Jeju Hueree Maehwa Festival takes place at the Hueree Natural Park (휴애리 자연생활공원) from late February to early March every year. Maehwa is the Korean word for apricot flowers, and the flowers signal the changing of the season. The blossoming of the Maehwa flowers is celebrated at the earliest time in Korea through this festival. The festival also features various fun activities such as the apricot flower photo contest, black pig show and goose show.

Mulle-gil Festival is set to take place around the Uiamho Lake area and Songam-dong Sports Town in Chuncheon, the lakeside city of Gangwon Province. This year’s festival is divided into several categories including the Experience Zone, Camping Zone, Exhibition Zone, and Performance Zone. At the Performance Zone you may enjoy a wide variety of concerts and performing arts while the Mulle-gil Experience Zone features not only the canoe experience program, but also a variety of fun canoe contests like a Canoe Marathon, Family Slalom Contest (a hurdle dodging race), the 1-Person Freestyle Competition, and Family Luggage-carrying Race.

Sulwha Cultural Exhibition offers a venue to remind visitors of the actual value of traditional artcrafts and communicate with modern art in a way that helps to combine and develop the traditional with modern. This exhibition aims to provide the opportunity to share the meaning and value of balance and harmony, a philosophy of Sulwhasu, that always exist but may be difficult to recognize in daily life, such as inside and outside, subjects within their environments, and traditions and modernism.

Gwangju Biennale is an international contemporary art exhibition that takes place once every two years. Taking place in 2014, the event marks 10th anniversay and will celebrate the importance of being together though the theme of “Burning Down the House (터전을 불태우라).” It will bring together many different people, different times, various roles in arts production, and numerous different positions toward power such as exist  in various social, political, and cultural situations. The biennale consists of an exhibition, several workshops, e-journals, books, and various programs such as residency programs and new commissions. [About the 2014's theme] Burning Down the Houseexplores the process of burning and transformation, a cycle of obliteration and renewal witnessed throughout history. Evident in aesthetics, historical events, and an increasingly rapid course of redundancy and renewal in commercial culture, the Biennale reflects on this process of, often violent, events of destruction or self-destruction―burning the home one occupies―followed by the promise of the new and the hope for change. In the 1930s the critic Walter Benjamin coined the term ‘Tigersprung’ (the tiger’s leap) for a new model of history where the past is activated in and through the present within a culture industry that demands constant renewal. What can the ‘Tigerspung’ mean for today’s ‘tiger economies’ like South Korea in a context where economic and political powers deliver the eternally new of fashionable commodities and industrial progress at the apparent expense of a cultural past? Burning Down the House looks at the spiral of rejection and revitalization that this process implies. The theme highlights the capacity of art to critique the establishment through an exploration that includes the visual, sound, movement and dramatic performance. At the same time, it recognises the possibility and impossibility within art to deal directly and concretely with politics. The energy, the materiality and processes of burning ― the manner in which material is changed and destroyed by flames into the residue of dramatic interventions or remnants of celebrations ― have long informed artistic practice. Jungdong Culture Festival brings an autumn ambience to Jeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. The festival is a main event in Seoul, and connects traditional Korea to the present.During the festival, the traditional craft center will host performances and exhibits in the Jeongdong-gil, the heart of the downtown area.
