Known for beautiful mountains and crystal-clear waters, the area of Geumsan, Chungcheongnam-do, is the venue for the Geumgang Yeoul Festival held around July each year. The festival name was previously “Geumgang Folk Festival” but changed into its current title in 2013. With 'water' as the main theme, this is the perfect summer festival in an enjoyable vacation spot offering various water games, crop-harvesting, nature ecological experience, and more. In addition, visitors can watch Geumsan’s unique traditional performances, Geumsan Mulpegi Nongyo (물페기 농요; nongyo; farmer’s song) and Nongbau Ggeusigi (농바우끄시기; ritual for rain), designated as Intangible Cultural Asset No. 16 and 32 in Chungcheongnam-do respectively. Auto-camping is available near the festival venue in Sutong-ri, and Yonghwa-ri, making this a suitable summer getaway.

In celebration of the Jeongwol Daeboreum holiday held during the largest full moon of the year, Nonsan Jeongwol Daeboreum Festival is held to host annual rituals and provide a place for families to spend time together. The festival’s activities also include juldarigi (tug of war) in Nonsan-si, jegichagi (Korean hacky sack), a kite-flying contest for families to paint the sky, writing a family motto, neolttwigi (Korean seesawing jumping), rolling a hoop, paengichigi (top spinning), and other folk game activities.

Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Festival is held at Muchangpo Beach in Ungcheon-eup, Boryeong-si City.During the festival, the sea splits, creating a 1.5 km division from Muchangpo Beach to Seokdaedo Island (석대도). This phenomenon is called the Modern Moses Miracle and happens every year.  The festival accompanies the event which occurs on the fifteenth day of the lunar month and again at the end of the lunar month.Visitors can enjoy a wide range of attractions and hands-on programs such as celebratory performances, fishing with a torch, the Mystic Sea Road torch parade, barehanded fishing, catching manila clams, catching razor shells and many more.

Chilgapsan Mountain was called the Alps of Chungcheongnam-do. Nestled at the foot of the peak of Chilgapsan Mountain, Cheonjang-ri Alps Village is located at a high degree as its name ‘Cheonjang’ (천장; ceiling) suggests. The village includes the trail path of Chilgapsan Mountain, Cheonjang Lake, Cheonjang Lake suspension bridge, Rural and Urban Interchange Center, international standard-sized stadium, restaurant, swimming pool, educational center, horse-riding center, and holiday villas (also known as pensions). Various festivals like Ice Fountain Festival, International Calabash Festival, and Chilgapsan Mountain Bean Festival are also held in this village.Ice Fountain Festival is held in the area of the Alps Villages in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do from December to February with seven different themes. Every corner of the venue has ice fountains, and snow sculptures that add an even more winter ambience to the festival. Snow sledding, ice sledding and bobsleigh are available for all visitors to ride. In addition, there are some traditional activities such as rice-planting machine sledding, eating roasted chestnut picked from Chilgapsan Mountain, and many others where visitors can be experience and enjoy the taste of the rural feelings.* Some programs may be canceled depending on the weather conditions. Seosan Chrysanthemum Festival takes place at in apple orchard in Gagu-ri, Gobuk-myeon, Seosan-si, Chungcheongnam-do. The festival grounds are decorated with color chrysanthemum exhibitions amidst bright red apples. Visitors can enjoy taking photos of the fully blooming flowers and ripe apples at this festival full of the scent of autumn.  

At the 2015 World Tulip Summit held at the Suncheon Bay Garden exhibition, Taean Tulips Festival was selected to be one of the world's top five tulip festivals, including America (Michigan, Holland), Canada (Ottawa), Japan (Honshu) and India (Kashmir). The advanced planting technique used is one of the biggest determinant factors that leads to the recognition. The upcoming Taean Tulip Festival follows a theme of 'The Garden of Artists' and tulips forming images of well-known figures such as Mona Lisa and Marilyn Monroe can be seen after sunset as they are lit at night by LED lights. 春のうららかな日、雑踏とした都心から抜け出してチューリップを観賞して余裕を感じ、泰安の美しい海とおいしい料理で楽しい旅行ができることでしょう。また、日没後にはLEDでライトアップされた華麗な光の世界が待っています。家族や恋人、友達同士で楽しい思い出を作ることができます。      

Having modified its name from Hongseong Naepo Culture Festival, Hongseong Historical Person Festival is held in Hongjueupseong Fortress every September, with the aim of become an educational festival. Hongseong is the hometown of many historical persons in the areas of literature, martial arts and art such as General Choe Yeong, a great commander during the Goryeo period, Seong Sam-mun, a scholar-official of the early Joseon era, General Kim Jwa-jin, who won the Battle of Cheongsanni against Japan, Han Yong-un, who was a resistance fighter to Japanese influence with his fidelity and integrity, Han Seong-jun, a folk dancer, and Lee Ung-no, who established Korean painting’s creativity and identity. The festival offers historical person-related programs that include themed performances, histories of the persons, and their life story, giving a unique experience. Excellent local food from Hongseong can also be eaten at the festival site.

The Haemieupseong Fortress in Seosan City is the most intact fortress in Korea. Built around 600 years ago during the Joseon period, the fortress is a historically significant site where both the commander-in-chief of Chungcheong-do Province and the great Admiral Yi Sun-shin had once served. It is also a sacred ground of martyrs as nearly 1,000 Roman Catholics were executed in 1866. In modern times, the fortress served as the backdrop for the turbulent Donghak Peasants Revolution (1894) and Catholic Persecution.The Seosan Haemieupseong Festival offers a variety of exciting programs with a theme of the traditional Korean market. This includes diverse cultural performances such as tightrope walking, folk music, traditional orchestral music, and outdoor theatricals. Visitors to the festival will also have a chance to experience hands-on activities like traditional crafts, folk games, and drawing performances.

Gijisi Juldarigi is the main feature of this 500-year traditional folk festival, not like festivals developed on purpose by local governments. Juldarigi, a tug-of-war game, was started to pray for peace and fortune in the new year and to be in concord with neighbors as part of a traditional village’s feast. In 1982, Gijisi Juldarigi was designated as Important Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 75, one of Korea’s representative Intangible Cultural Heritages. Also, it was registered in 2015 as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO along with Vietnam, Cambodia and the Philippines.

The Seocheon Camellia Octopus Festival will be held in Maryang-ri, Seo-myeon, Seocheon-gun. Visitors can enjoy the sight of blooming camellia flower trees and fresh caught baby octopus from the West Sea. Various events will be held such as baby octopus fishing, a Seocheon retrospective photo exhibition, local agricultural product sales, music performances, and more.
