The annual Haneul Park Sunrise Festival takes place at Haneul Park on January 1. Many people gather every year to bid farewell to the passing year and wish a happy New Year.

Ansan Street Arts Festival, Korea’s largest street arts festival, will be held at Ansan Culture Square in Ansan. This festival is considered one of the top ten festivals held in Gyeonggi-do as well as a representative festival of Ansan-si, featuring various street performances. Invited performances from local and overseas, individual performers and other performances are prepared as well as other special programs.

The festival takes place every May in the area of Jungnang-gu where thousands of roses blossom to form a 5.15km-long rose tunnel. Performances and activity programs will be prepared to entertain visitors along with a magnificent finale of fireworks on the last day of the festival. Nighttime visitors are welcome to enjoy the sight of roses as well with their beauty maximized by a variety of lighting effects. Samgwangsa Temple is to hold its famous lantern festival, which has been attracting over a million visitors each year. CNN Travel also voted this temple to be one of the best spots you must visit in Korea. The festival is known for a variety of lanterns of over 3 millions kinds. The lanterns with hope and sincere love toward Buddha will create spectacular views, watching wave of lanterns lighten up the dark sky with their brilliant colors.

The Jikji text (full name 'Buljo Jikji Simche Yojeol") is the world's oldest metal-printed book, being printed in 1377 at Cheongju's Heungdeoksa Temple, and as such, was included on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register in 2001. In order to spread the knowledge of Jikji around the world, the city of Cheongju has dedicated great efforts over the past years to host festivals and a memorial event for the awarding ceremony. With the support of the government, the two events were combined in 2016 as a single international event, named JIKJI Korea. With the theme "Jikji, Enlightening the World," various events and exhibitions will allow visitors to learn more about the value of this great acheivement within the exciting festival atmosphere.

The Wonmisan Mountain Azalea Festival will be held from April 12 to 14 at Wonmisan Mountain and the surrounding areas. While enjoying the sight of azalea flowers, visitors can participate in various hands-on programs and events.

"Night Walk in Jeonju" is hosting for the first time this year after being selected by the Cultural Heritage Administration through a competition. Herb Island Lighting & Illumination Fesitval features a romantic ambience created by splendid lightings. It is comprised of a pink wish tunnel, sparkling buildings, Santa Village, photo zone and other twinkling places for visitors to enjoy.

The best cultural theme park in the nation, the Korean Folk Village is hosting the '2016 Welcome to Joseon' Korean Folk Village Joseon Live Variety Festival from April 9 to June 12, 2016. It is the most representative spring festival of the Korean Folk Village and this year in particular, new parades have been added, along with upgraded version of the 'Fusion Madanggeuk: Birthday party of the Governor' will be held.  With a record of 1 million views on their highlight act featuring the 'flower beggar', 'merchant', 'gisaeng,' and new characters selected from the 'Joseon Characters Audition 3', a total of 22 actors will be seen performing in the acts. With Joseon dynasty as background, visitors may time travel back into a fantasy world with the characters in a interesting and real comedy act.  Besides, a variety of traditional and fun experiences including 'Traditional Costume Experience', making of mapae (transportation card used in the Joseon era), hopa (identity card) and fragrance pouch are also available for all visitors regardless of age and gender.
