Seogwipo-si is home to warm winter at the southernmost point of Jeju Island and holds the Seogwipo Penguin Swimming Festival to welcome each new year.The festival aims to ring in the new year through boot camp activities making it an unusual festival that people really enjoy.Jungmun Beach, one of the most popular beaches on Jeju Island, is the festival venue and there will be various programs and exciting activities.

Shinan Tulip Festival is held annually in Sinan-gun, the tulip capital of Korea. Every year, the festival showcases up to 3 million tulips and present various exciting events across the town, which was selected as the best place to grow tulips.

Commemorating the event of PyeongChang 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games and G-2 (Game-2; two years before PyeongChang 2018 Olympics), Hello PyeongChang Winter Festival will be held from February 4 to 6 around Gangneung Dano Park with various programs including an opening ceremony with performances by K-POP singers, cultural and arts groups, traditional performances themed on Gangwon-do traditional culture, World DJ festival, cultural art performance by EATOF (East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum), and professional arts groups’ performances. Reservation for the festival is available through the official website. Individual foreign guests are also able to make a reservation for the festival. In addition to the pre-welcoming ceremony, PyeongChang Connected Test Events will be held with Jeongseon Alpine Ski Contest, PyeongChang Bogwang Snowboard Contest and Pyeongchang Freestyle Ski Contest. Other festivals in Gwangwon-do including PyeongChang Winter Music Festival, (Feb 25-28, Alpensia and Yongpyong), Daegwallyeong Snow Festival (Jan 15-Feb 10, areas of Hoenggye-ri, Daegwallyeong-myeon) and PyeongChang Godeureum Festival (Jan 15-24, Areas of No.2 bridge of Joyanggang River, Jeongseon-eup) will offer more of the winter atmosphere to visitors.

The annual Suwon Theatre Festival features diverse shows showcasing contemporary theater and events including an exhibition, vocal performances and citizen-led programs. The festival offers participants the opportunity to step into a historic space in the city of Suwon. The venue also features creative decorations using materials from recycled vehicles, tires and fabric. Individuals and families will be able to enjoy the range of events at the festival, located at a UNESCO World Heritage site.  

The Seocheon Camellia Octopus Festival will be held in Maryang-ri, Seo-myeon, Seocheon-gun. Visitors can enjoy the sight of blooming camellia flower trees and fresh caught baby octopus from the West Sea. Various events will be held such as baby octopus fishing, a Seocheon retrospective photo exhibition, local agricultural product sales, music performances, and more.

The theme of this festival is ‘soybeans’, a health food that has long been popular in Korea. In particular, the ‘Jangdan Soybeans’ produced in the Paju province have always been highly regarded for their taste and outstanding nutritional value and were even served to the king. Furthermore, in the early 20th Century, the 'Jangdan Soybeans’ were designated as the most superior soybeans in Korea and were distributed throughout the country.During the festival visitors can taste the soybeans and learn how to make dishes made from soybeans including tteok (rice cakes), tofu, and preserved soybeans.

'Buncheongsagi (a grayish-blue-powdered celadon)' is a type of ceramic ware used during the 15th and 16th centuries, during the transition period from Cheongja (green celadon porcelain) to Baekja (white porcelain). This Korean-style ceramic ware has received high acclaim for the simplicity of its beauty. This festival takes place in October every year in Gimhae, Korea’s most famous ceramic village. This festival sells this special ceramic ware, such as tea cups, made in the traditional methods with discounts of up to 30 to 40%. Visitors can also watch the ceramicists making ‘Buncheongsagi’. Furthermore, there are other programs that allow you to make your own ceramics or even write and draw your own artistic imprints on ceramics.

Organized by Hongcheon-gun and Hongcheon-gun Festival Organizing Committee, Hongcheon Winter Festival is held near Hongcheongyo Bridge in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. Every year, the festival has a different theme, with activities that include trout fishing, playing in the snow and on the ice, ice sledding, and more. The Giva Week (also known as Ginkgo Virus Alley Week) is to be held for the 2nd time, following last year's success. The event was originally organized and started up by the business owners of shops in the streets of the Sinsadong garosu-gil, to promote sales and make the place an attractive tourist spot. The aim is to develop hidden attractions that have recently been shaded by many franchised stores as well as make it an ideal place to shop, eat, and sight-see, as well as enjoy street performances. Many talented aritsts and shop owners will gather to hold various events and program, with amazing discounts and free gifts to be awarded. With the help of Solon Company, the Korea Tourism Organization, Visit Korea Year Committee, Tripvi Ltd., and regional offices, the event expects to draw in more attention and visitors than the previous year. Locations for events are various, being spread throughout the Sinsadong garosu-gil area, where the streets are lined in many Gingko trees. Visiting many of the charmingly decorated coffee shops, designer stores, boutique-like galleries and much more along Garosu-gil is a romantic way to enjoy the beauiful autumn foliage in Korea.

The Yangju Snow Festival will take place at Art Valley in Yangju-si, Gyeonggi-do.During the festival, the venue will be filled with snow-white artworks as it also transform into a snow playground for the whole family to enjoy.
