Hampyeong Grand Chrysanthemum Festival

The Hampyeong Grand Chrysanthemum Festival started in the autumn of 2004 as a part of the city’s plan for making Hampyeong an enjoyable city all year round. Visitors can enjoy the fall mood to their hearts content with the many insects and various structures decorating the festival grounds. Over 2,000 works made from real chrysanthemum flowers are on display. The crowning glory this year is the 33.3m long, 8m high Gwanghwamun Gate replica at the central plaza. In addition to the beautiful flowers, visitors can experience a multitude of activities, including playing traditional games, making their own chrysanthemum tea, feeding parrots, and more.

Ttangkkeut Maehwa Festival

The Ttangkkeut Maehwa Festival is an annual celebration of maehwa (plum blossom) in the ttangkkeut (edge/end of the land) village of Haenam, Joellanam-do. Held under the theme of "Spring in the Ttangkkeut Maehwa Fields," this year's festival will present a wide variety of exciting programs including performances, exhibitions, singing contests, and many more over the period of two days.

Jangseong Honggildong Festival

The Changsung Honggildong Festival will take place in the area around Honggildong Theme Park in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do. The festival is organized by the county of Jangseong-gun and managed by the Jangseong-gun Festival Organizing Committee. Events during the festival include a wild flower exhibition at Gildong Village, an insect exhibition hall, photo exhibitions, illustrated poetry exhibitions and other hands-on programs.

Sinan Sasanqua Festival

The Sinan Sasanqua Festival takes place at 1004 Island Park (Cheonsaseom Bunjae Park) in Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do. The festival is the nation's one and only festival about potted plants. Camellias (dongbaek in Korean) bloom during the cold winter months. The flowers fall off completely intact, keeping their brilliant color and appearance. This festival is expected to have around 30,000 sasanqua flowers blooming from around 3,000 trees at 1004 Island Park and Songgongsan Mountain. There will also be 2,000 kinds of potted camellias on display, a program demonstrating how to care for potted plants, and a poetry and painting exhibit.

Suncheon Lantern Festival

The annual Suncheon Lantern Festival takes place around Suncheon Jorye Lake Park. Hosted by Buddhist associations in Suncheon City, the festival features a variety of Buddhist cultural programs such as a children’s writing contest, drawing competition, B-POP festival, folk games, pagoda circling, lantern and light balloon floating in prayers for peace, and fireworks show. The festival also screens a number of Buddhist films in celebration of Buddha’s birthday.

Ttangkkeut Sunset Sunrise Festival

Ttangkkeut Sunset Sunrise Festival will take place at Ttangkkuet Village in Songji-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do. The festival includes a sunset and sunrise ceremony, and ttangkkeut music concert. The festival is famous for the unique view of the sunrise through a crack between the rocks of Hyeongjebawi next to Galduhang Port.

Yeongsanpo Skate Festival

Yeongsanpo has 600-year history of hongeo (skate fish) fishing. At Yeongsanpo Skate Festival, sample Yeongsanpo’s unique delicacy, and walk along fields of canola flowers.

Daegu Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Culture Festival

A tradition dating back 350 years, the Daegu Yangnyeongsi (herb medicine market) was an international market where herbal medicines from China, Russia, Europe, and other regions were sold. The herb medicine festival displays medicinal herbs found in Korea’s mountains and offers visitors an opportunity to experience a wide range of relaxing and curative traditional medicinal procedures. The Daegu Yangnyeongsi Herb Medicine Culture Festival will be a fascinating event for international visitors who are interested in Korea’s medicinal herbs and the medical sciences and traditions of Asia.

Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival

The Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival (대구치맥페스티벌) celebrates what Koreans love to enjoy, chicken with beer, and will take place at Duryu Park in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. Called the Chimaek Festival in Korean, the term chimaek is derived from the terms chicken and maekju (meaning "beer"). Over 620,000 people attended over the course of the festival in 2014, and as many as one million are expected for the festival in 2015. This year's festival will include a music festival and industrial culture festival, making the entire festival a place overflowing with youthful energy.
