DDP Citizen’s Festival

DDP Citizen’s Festival will be held to improve Dongdaemun’s image and activate the regional economy as a representative festival of Dongdaemun area. The festival includes a ceremony for a public ambassador, performances, exhibitions, hands-on programs, street art performances, an international food event, and many other programs. Visitors of all ages are welcome to take part in this open festival. The festival aims to build DDP’s own identification as the top place regarding design and creative knowledge.

Sulwha Cultural Exhibition - once upon a time: tale of crape myrtle

Sulwha Cultural Exhibition offers a venue to remind visitors of the actual value of traditional artcrafts and communicate with modern art in a way that helps to combine and develop the traditional with modern. This exhibition aims to provide the opportunity to share the meaning and value of balance and harmony, a philosophy of Sulwhasu, that always exist but may be difficult to recognize in daily life, such as inside and outside, subjects within their environments, and traditions and modernism.

Yeosu Jinnam Geobukseon Ship Festival

The Yeosu Geobukseon Ship Festival, which takes place around Yi Sun-shin Square, provides an opportunity for locals and tourists to come together and enjoy a range of hands-on programs. In addition to the variety of traditional performances and ceremonies, main events include the Geobukseon Ship-drying event, a drawing contest, and a one-night, two-day historical tour program for teens. Yet another crowd-pleaser is the Yeosu International Fireworks Competition, a brilliant display held against the backdrop of the vast sea in front of Yi Sun-shin Square. Visitors can take home part of the magic by purchasing local products at discounted prices at the festival marketplace.

Seosan Haemieupseong Fortress Festival

The Haemieupseong Fortress in Seosan City is the most intact fortress in Korea. Built around 600 years ago during the Joseon period, the fortress is a historically significant site where both the commander-in-chief of Chungcheong-do Province and the great Admiral Yi Sun-shin had once served. It is also a sacred ground of martyrs as nearly 1,000 Roman Catholics were executed in 1866. In modern times, the fortress served as the backdrop for the turbulent Donghak Peasants Revolution (1894) and Catholic Persecution.The Seosan Haemieupseong Festival offers a variety of exciting programs with a theme of the traditional Korean market. This includes diverse cultural performances such as tightrope walking, folk music, traditional orchestral music, and outdoor theatricals. Visitors to the festival will also have a chance to experience hands-on activities like traditional crafts, folk games, and drawing performances.

Damyang Bamboo Festival

Located within a forest of 2.4 kilometers of bamboo, this festival is full of activities celebrating the beauty and function of the bamboo plant. More active visitors can test their skills during some of the festival’s scheduled river sports, such as ‘Log Rafting’ and ‘Water Bicycling’. After working up an appetite, visitors can please their palate with some of Damyang’s famous cuisines and other world foods featured at the Cultural Experience Center. Hongcheon Winter Festival

Organized by Hongcheon-gun and Hongcheon-gun Festival Organizing Committee, Hongcheon Winter Festival is held near Hongcheongyo Bridge in Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. Every year, the festival has a different theme, with activities that include trout fishing, playing in the snow and on the ice, ice sledding, and more. Jungdong Culture Festival brings an autumn ambience to Jeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul. Ulsan Whale Festival

Ulsan Whale Festival is held in the area of Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Special Zone. Daejeon Science Festival started in 2000 at Daejeon Expo Science Park. The festival aims to cultivate an interest in science among students and citizens alike, promoting Daejeon as the science capital of Korea. With the theme of “Fusion of Science and Culture! Glance into the Future!” the festival will run for five days at various areas around the park.
