The Geochang International Festival of Theatre, which opens every year with topics of nature, man, and drama, can be enjoyed in the beautiful valleys of Susengdae during the day and under the midnight stars at night. The festival is one of the many that are succesfully held by the local self-governing organizations. The Sunchang Fermented Sauce Festival is held every fall at Sunchang, a city of health and longevity. Sunchang hot pepper sauce, which used to be presented to the royal family in the Joseon Dynasty, is believed to have many health benefits, such as being beneficial in preventing cancer and obesity. As people have gotten more interested in their health and well-being, hot sauce has become an even greater part of the Korean diet.The venue of the festival is Hot Sauce Folk Village, a mecca of Sunchang Hot Sauce. There are a range of programs, including celebrity performances, percussion performances, madangnori, and making traditional hot sauce. Other events include Sunchang Specialty Exhibition (e.g. vegetables fermented in hot sauce, bokbunja liquor), Children’s Painting Contest, and photo exhibits. The festival’s crowning glory is the Sunchang traditional hot sauce competition, a must-see event.

Yeongdong is the largest fruit-producing center in Korea, it is even known as the Holy Land of Fruit, and during the Yeongdong Dried Persimmons Festival, fruit producers and customers alike gather to celebrate one of the region’s most famous fruits.At the Yeongdong Dried Persimmons Festival visitors can experience persimmon jam making, persimmon peeling, and can even enjoy foot bathing with persimmon leaves and persimmon peels.

The Jirisan Piagol Autumn Foliage Festival is held under the theme of "Variegated colors of Autumn foliage trip with Samhong" in Toji-myeon, Gurye-gun districts. Samhong literally means the "three reds," referring to the vibrant red foliage, the red-tinted waters, and the red in the eye of the beholder. The festival opens with a funeral rites ceremony in appreciation of the beautiful suroundings, followed by a concert, a trekking and a one night, two day camping tour in Jirisan Dulle-gil Road, followed by various hands-on programs. During the festival, a free shuttle bus will run, and visitors will receive free admission to Yeongoksa Temple.

‘Goryeo Daejanggyeong,’ also known as the Eighty-thousand Tripitaka or the Tripitaka Koreana, is a set of ancient Buddhist scripture woodblocks housed in Haeinsa Temple in Hapcheon-gun County or Gyeongsannam-do. Venerated as the assemblage of Korean philosophical culture, the Tripitaka is desginated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage, and also was listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World register in June 2007. A myriad of special exhibitions and programs are scheduled to be held during the festival period in order to raise awareness of the meaning and value of the ancient woodcrafts, while sustaining the thousand-year-old wisdom of the Tripitaka in the new era.

The Muchangpo Mystic Sea Road Jjukkumi and Dodari Festival is held from mid-March to early April at the Mucheonpo Port area. During the festival season, there will also be an abundance of freshly caught seasonal seafood such as jjukkumi (baby octopus), gaebul (fat innkeeper worm), and shellfish.

The peak of Myeongseonsan Mountain was where people lived by slash-and-burn farming in the 1950's. Unlike other wastelands, the region was used as an agricultural land which became more and more fertile through repetitive slash-and-burn farming, which in result eulalias took over the weeds and made it their home. At the foot of the mountain is Sanjeonghosu Lake, entertaining hikers with a splendid view of its harmony with the eulalias.

The Hampyeong Grand Chrysanthemum Festival started in the autumn of 2004 as a part of the city’s plan for making Hampyeong an enjoyable city all year round. Visitors can enjoy the fall mood to their hearts content with the many insects and various structures decorating the festival grounds. Over 2,000 works made from real chrysanthemum flowers are on display. The crowning glory this year is the 33.3m long, 8m high Gwanghwamun Gate replica at the central plaza. In addition to the beautiful flowers, visitors can experience a multitude of activities, including playing traditional games, making their own chrysanthemum tea, feeding parrots, and more.
