Gyeongsangnam-do(Geochang-gun)

The Geochang International Festival of Theatre, which opens every year with topics of nature, man, and drama, can be enjoyed in the beautiful valleys of Susengdae during the day and under the midnight stars at night. The festival is one of the many that are succesfully held by the local self-governing organizations. Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)

Since its inception in 1960, chrysanthemum farming in Changwon (Masan) has proliferated, accounting for 13% of nationwide chrysanthemum farming. The Masan Gagopa Chrysanthemum Festival presents numerous exhibitions, cultural programs, food tasting, and many more.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Hadong-gun)

Hadong is famous for being the first tea plantation site in Korea. Unlike other tea production sites, which typically use machines for processing, Hadong continues to produce tea using time-honored traditional methods. As a result, it produces particularly high-grade teas, which are often sold at high prices.During the festival, visitors can sample a variety of Hadong’s tea for free and purchase their favorites at bargain prices. The festival offers visitors a unique and entertaining combination of events and hands-on experiences, drawing a large number of visitors every year.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Tongyeong-si)

The Great Battle of Hansan (1592) is one of the four most famous sea battles in Korean history. Visitors to this festival, which celebrates the anniversary of the great event, will learn all about the battle while enjoying the beautiful natural scenery of Tongyeong.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Hadong-gun)

When April arrives, the Hwagae region looks as if it is carpeted in snow. In fact, it is the beautiful white flowers of the regions’ numerous cherry blossom trees that transform the landscape into a soft downy wonderland. One of the most popular attractions of the festival is ‘The 10ri Cherry Blossom Road’ (ri is the traditional Korean measurement unit, and 10ri equals approximately 4km). It is also known as ‘marriage road’, as it is said that if lovers walk down this road while holding hands, they will get married and stay happily together forever. Apart from the stunning beauty of the cherry blossoms, there is also an exciting series of seasonal programs and cultural events for guests to enjoy. Nearby attractions include the historic Hwagae Market and numerous restaurants serving the province’s traditional cuisines such as Euneo-hoe (sliced raw sweetfish) and Chamge-tang (king crab broth). * The event date is subject to change due to temperature change. ​


Gyeongsangnam-do(Sancheong-gun)

This festival celebrates the herbs of Jirisan Mountain, which are commonly known to have great medicinal properties, making this the perfect event for visitors eager to improve their health through natural remedies.At this festival, visitors will be exposed to a wide variety of Korea’s medicinal herbs and medical traditions. Along with many other exciting events, you will even be able to sample traditional Oriental medicinal food made from herbs. Visitors can sample herbs for free, and can take home their favorite herb or remedy at low cost. Some herbs can even be grown at home!


Gyeongsangnam-do(Jinju-si)

Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originates from the lantern lighting custom used during the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle of the Imjinwaeran War (Japanese invasion, 1592) as a military strategy to prevent Japanese troops from wading the Namgang River. The highlights of the festival are the floating of lanterns carrying personal wishes of the citizens along the Namgang River, and the parade of lanterns created by the students themselves. In addition, the festival features gaejesik (lighting of lanterns in remembrance of the Jinjuseong Fortress Battle veterans), an exhibition of the world’s traditional lanterns, and many more participatory cultural programs.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Changwon-si)

A world-class cherry blossom festival is held annually at the beautiful naval port city of Jinhae. The Gunhangje Festival offers a plethora of events and activities, including a special event on the eve of the festival, Paldo Pungmul Market, art and culture performances, and more at Jungmun Rotary. At Bugwon Rotary, with the commemoration of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin, visitors can place a wreath on his statue and also watch a victory parade and a ceremony to honor his spirit. As Jinhae is known for its naval port, festival-goers can also enjoy military music and performances at the Jinhae Military Band & Honor Guard Festival, which takes place at the same time. The festival provides a one-of-a-kind chance to see the powerful and polished military band marching show in full dress. The Republic of Korea Naval Academy and the Command of Naval Base in Jinhae are generally not open to the general public. However, they open their doors during the Gunhangje festival and these places will be filled with festival-goers, turning the place into a museum and an exhibition center, displaying the Turtle Ship, Navy vessels, and photographs. Gunhangje will also host hands-on activities from trying on a naval uniform to cruise riding and more. With 100 years of flowering cherry blossom trees scattered around the naval base, the base will display a special appearance to the public. In April, the streets of Jinhae city are strewn with cherry blossoms. A beautiful flower tunnel should not be missed when the flowers are in full bloom. The petals fluttering and falling in the wind create a breathtaking scene. One of the top attractions during the festival is the 800 meter section of flowers on the railroad by Gyeonghwa Station, and the 1.5 kilometer flower streams where visitors can take in the beautiful spring flowers. Anmingogae Road makes for a great drive to enjoy the full bloom. From the top of Jehwangsan Mountain Park, you can see the whole of the city, which is centered around a roundabout at Jungwon Rotary. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is a great place to create some special memories among the cherry blossoms and historic buildings of this modern and elegant city.  


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Cheongdo-gun)

Cheongdo Seedless Persimmon Festival is held in October at an outdoor stage in Cheongdo-gun. ‘Bansi’ (seedless persimmon) features an astringent taste with a flat-shape, unlike the long-shape of gotgam (a peeled persimmon that is dried in the sun through natural drafts) spreading through Sangju and Yeongdong. Cheongdo Bansi is tender, high in sugar and easy to eat and process as it has no seeds. Thus, Cheongdo hosts the Cheongdo Bansi (Seedless persimmon) Festival to promote their specialty product.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Pohang-si)

The Homigot Octopus Festival is an annual festival held at the end of April. Visitors can enjoy freshly caught octopus from the East Sea. Various programs and events will be also be held including watching sunrise on a boat, octopus auction, etc.
