Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is one of the largest film festivals in Korea. Beginning in 1996 as the first international film festival in Korea, it is now a major global event.Held in Haeundae and Nampo-dong, Busan, the festival presents over 300 films from 70 countries. The main program themes include: A Window on Asian Cinema, New Currents, Korean Cinema Today, Korean Cinema Retrospective, World Cinema, Wide Angle, Open Cinema, and Special Programs in Focus.The festival also boasts a wide array of special events, outdoor performances and participatory programs. Tickets for opening and closing films can only be purchased online. 20% of seats for regular films (including films screened in theaters or outdoor venues) will be available for sale at on-site ticket booths. Main festival venues include Busan Cinema Center, CGV Centum City, Lotte Cinema Centum City, Megabox Haeundae and Community Media Center Busan.

Busan Jagalchi Festival

Jagalchi Market is the largest seafood market in Korea and one of Busan’s most well-known tourist attractions. The festival takes place every autumn and its slogan is “Oiso! Boiso! Saiso! (“Come! See! Buy!” in the Busan accent)”. The huge size and bustling, lively atmosphere makes a visit to Jagalchi Market a unique experience for many visitors. Small food stalls serve fresh inshore hagfish grilled on briquette fires along with other unusual sea creatures and sashimi-sliced fish at market prices.

Baekje Cultural Festival first started in 1955 to commemorate the three loyal subjects of the Baekje era, namely Seongchung, Heungsu, and Gyebaek through a Samchungje rite. The lonely souls drifting throughout Baekje’s land are also comforted through a separate ritual ceremony, known as the Suryukje rite.Also, Samchungsa Temple was established in 1965 and the scale of the festival became bigger in 1965, hosted by the province. Its name was changed to Baekje Cultural Festival since then.

E-World Starlight Festival

E-World Starlight Festival is held with ten million lights in an area of 120,000 pyeong around E-World and 83 Tower. Hot-air balloons, roses, and masks light decorations and other events will catch people’s eyes at this carnival-like festival. The events start at night and large characteristic trees are decorated along the 200m Light Road, as well as a Umbrella Road, Carnival Road, and photo zone created by 1,000 lights. Also, 10,000 LED roses cover the proposal stairs, creating a romantic and special ambience. This festival is beloved by young couples as part of a night dating course.

The Daegu Chicken and Beer Festival (대구치맥페스티벌) celebrates what Koreans love to enjoy, chicken with beer, and will take place at Duryu Park in Dalseo-gu, Daegu. Called the Chimaek Festival in Korean, the term chimaek is derived from the terms chicken and maekju (meaning "beer"). Over 620,000 people attended over the course of the festival in 2014, and as many as one million are expected for the festival in 2015. This year's festival will include a music festival and industrial culture festival, making the entire festival a place overflowing with youthful energy.

Designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, kimjang has gone global and kimchi has become a classic, healthy food much loved by people around the world. With the first Seoul Kimchi Festival in 2014, the much forgotten Korean sharing spirit comes alive and kimjang was created into a cultural festival that has developed into a leading global sharing festival in Seoul. Celebrating the theme ‘Happy sharing, Kimjang day,’ the 4th Seoul Kimchi Festival will offer visitors opportunities to touch, feel and taste the unique Korean kimjang culture through various programs such as Making&Sharing Kimchi, where over 5,000 people get together to make kimchi for the underprivileged, Seoul Kimjanggan, where participants get to try their hands at making kimchi for our families as well the Kimchi Market and Kimchi Imagination Playground etc. From November 3rd (Fri) to 5th (Sun), 2017, Kimjang Day! Jinhae Gunhangje Festival

A world-class cherry blossom festival is held annually at the beautiful naval port city of Jinhae. The Gunhangje Festival offers a plethora of events and activities, including a special event on the eve of the festival, Paldo Pungmul Market, art and culture performances, and more at Jungmun Rotary. At Bugwon Rotary, with the commemoration of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin, visitors can place a wreath on his statue and also watch a victory parade and a ceremony to honor his spirit. As Jinhae is known for its naval port, festival-goers can also enjoy military music and performances at the Jinhae Military Band & Honor Guard Festival, which takes place at the same time. The festival provides a one-of-a-kind chance to see the powerful and polished military band marching show in full dress. The Republic of Korea Naval Academy and the Command of Naval Base in Jinhae are generally not open to the general public. However, they open their doors during the Gunhangje festival and these places will be filled with festival-goers, turning the place into a museum and an exhibition center, displaying the Turtle Ship, Navy vessels, and photographs. Gunhangje will also host hands-on activities from trying on a naval uniform to cruise riding and more. With 100 years of flowering cherry blossom trees scattered around the naval base, the base will display a special appearance to the public. In April, the streets of Jinhae city are strewn with cherry blossoms. A beautiful flower tunnel should not be missed when the flowers are in full bloom. The petals fluttering and falling in the wind create a breathtaking scene. One of the top attractions during the festival is the 800 meter section of flowers on the railroad by Gyeonghwa Station, and the 1.5 kilometer flower streams where visitors can take in the beautiful spring flowers. Anmingogae Road makes for a great drive to enjoy the full bloom. From the top of Jehwangsan Mountain Park, you can see the whole of the city, which is centered around a roundabout at Jungwon Rotary. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival is a great place to create some special memories among the cherry blossoms and historic buildings of this modern and elegant city.

Hwagae Cherry Blossom Festival

When April arrives, the Hwagae region looks as if it is carpeted in snow. In fact, it is the beautiful white flowers of the regions’ numerous cherry blossom trees that transform the landscape into a soft downy wonderland. One of the most popular attractions of the festival is ‘The 10ri Cherry Blossom Road’ (ri is the traditional Korean measurement unit, and 10ri equals approximately 4km). It is also known as ‘marriage road’, as it is said that if lovers walk down this road while holding hands, they will get married and stay happily together forever. Apart from the stunning beauty of the cherry blossoms, there is also an exciting series of seasonal programs and cultural events for guests to enjoy. Nearby attractions include the historic Hwagae Market and numerous restaurants serving the province’s traditional cuisines such as Euneo-hoe (sliced raw sweetfish) and Chamge-tang (king crab broth). * The event date is subject to change due to temperature change.
