Silla:BaSilla
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gyeongju-si)

Fifteen hundred years ago, there was a story about the Heroes of the Silk Road. Silla: Basilla was inspired by Kush-Nama, a Persian epic poem. It was then recompositioned centering around the characters in Kush-Nama, Prince Abtin and his son Fereydun, as well as the princess of Silla, Farārang. It takes place after the Sasanian Empire, the last pre-Islamic Persian empire, had ended. The story depicts the collision and harmonization of the three different cultures of Persia, Silla, and Arab. Dynamic storytelling is created through the characters and scenes. The spectacular stage sets, lighting, and video give the production incredible visual appeal. Also, specially designed props crossing the Silk Road and battle scenes of Zahhak and Fereydun allow the audience to feel as if they are part of a page in history.

Ulsan Soeburi Cultural Festival
Gyeongsangnam-do(Gimhae-si)

Ulsan has produced iron for 2,000 years stretching back through the Samhan Dynasty and then the Joseon Dynasty (1392~1910). In the 1960’s it began it’s rise as the major iron industrial center of Korea. The region’s traditional iron culture is the theme of this festival. Activities include a traditional folk game called ‘Soeburi (a game played by making iron)’, Pungmul (folk music) performances, and learning programs.

Jeju Dodu Oraemul Festival

Located in the area of Doduhang Port, Jeju Dodu Oraemul Festival is the sole festival in the area, the theme of which is one of Jeju’s regional resources, “yongcheonsu" (spring water), also known as “dodu oraemul." Goesan Red Pepper Festival

The Goesan Red Pepper Festival is held during harvest season to promote the excellence of peppers grown in Goesan, a major production area of Korea. The festival has numerous programs, including pepper-picking and fish-catching contest (using the bare hands), pepper recipe competition, pepper cooking contest, and garden pepper planting. Brightly colored and full of flavor, Korean peppers are a particularly popular agricultural product. This is a fun festival where visitors can taste or buy Korean peppers, and talk with farmers. Korean Folk Art Festival

Yeongju Korea Seonbi Culture Festival
Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongju-si)

The Yeongju Seonbi Culture Festival takes place from early to mid May every year at the Seonbichon Village and Korean Seonbi Culture Training Center in Sunheung-myeon, Yeongju-si. A celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony is held on the first day, marking the beginning of the festivities. Other activities included a calligraphy performance, Seonghaksipdo Pangakgoyje ceremony and a bibimbap performance added more fun and entertainment to the first day. Following the opening celebration, a special parade entitled ‘Shinbaram Street Parade’ inspired by the ideals, spirit and patriotism of Sambong Jeong Do-Jeon (one of the major figures in Yeongju) takes place. Other festival events include Jangseong (traditional totem pole) sculpting competition, Sobaeksan Mountain Trail Hiking, Samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) Cooking Competition, traditional wedding ceremony for multi-cultural families, Hanbok (Korean traditional costume) fashion show, writing contest, children’s Seonbi exercise presentation, traditional head of the family cuisine exhibition, and a concert at an time-honored traditional house. Jangseong Baegyang Maple Festival

Jangseong Baegyang Maple Festival is held in the Baegyangsa Temple area of Baegamsan Mountain. Performances include "maple's harmony," "nostalgia 7080," and a music concert in the maple forest.
