Pohang Airport is located in the city of Pohang, Dogu-ri, Donghae-myeon, Nam-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The airport is approximately 11.5 km away from Pohang City Hall, and 5 km away from Posco (Pohang Iron and Steel Company) in the direction of Guryongpo. Anseong Machum Museum is a theme museum showcasing the rich cultural assets of Anseong, which have evolved around a type of brassware called Yugi. Located at the entrance of Chung-ang University’s Anseong Campus, the museum has a brassware exhibition hall, theater, planned exhibition hall, agricultural history exhibition hall, local relics exhibition hall, seminar room, and research room. The brassware exhibition hall displays information on the history, production, and use of brassware. The agricultural history exhibition hall exhibits the history of agriculture and special products of Anseong, providing the chance to see how the agriculture of Anseong has evolved over time. The local relics exhibition hall displays the culture and history of Anseong. On display are photos of Anseong, demonstrations of a historical street market, Anseong Namsadang troupe items, and Buddhist cultural assets.

Seopori Beach, designated as a national tourism area, is surrounded by a luxurious forest of 100-year-old pine trees. The moderately sloped, white sand beach extends 3 kilometers in length and 300 meters in x_width. The beach and the pine tree forest provide a great recreational area for the 100,000 annual visitors. Leisure facilities include a vast sports field, seaside playground, tennis court, restaurants, karaoke, bicycle rentals, and more. Visitors can enjoy fishing from the rocks on the seashore, swimming in the clean sea, and strolling through the pine forest to appreciate the scenic surroundings.

Located at the western end of Jejudo Island, Suwolbong, a small mountaintop, is famous for being a favorite sunset viewing place. The mountain has vertical cliffs spreading out like a scroll painting, created from the sea waves gradually cutting inland. The top the hexagonal pavilion Suwoljeong, from where you can look down on all sides. From this pavilion, you can see all of the West Sea.To the north, off the coast, is the Chagwido (sometimes called Jukdo) Island, where only the top peak area has grass growing, and the rest of the island is made up of dark hyeonmuam rocks and cliffs. Chagwido is famous as a fishing place, and in January, March, June, and December, people come here to fish. Around sunset, Chagwido’s seashore turns crimson red from the sun and is truly an awesome sight to behold.

Including the beautiful bay, Maeho, Namae-ri has three beaches. The northernmost among the three is the largest, with a sandy beach measuring 2 kilometers long and 100 meters wide. The sand is great quality, and the water is shallow, with an average water depth of only 1 to 2 meters. Also, a field of reeds is beautifully stretched out like a painting on both sides of the water road in Maeho Bay. Near Maeho Bay is the breeding ground for egrets and grey herons in Pomae-ri, designated as Natural Monument No. 229. Namae 3-ri Beach, 1.3 km in length and 100 m in x_width, is close to Namae Harbor so that fresh seafood is always available. Namae 1-ri Beach is a small beach located in the southernmost area, measuring only 600 meters in length. Namae Harbor is one of the famous sunrise spots in this area of the East Sea, along with Chuam Beach in Donghae, and Naksan Beach in Yangyang.

Serving as the boundary between Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do, the Seomjingang River (섬진강) boasts the cleanest water among Korea’s five largest rivers. Every March the Baegunsan Mountain (백운산) at the downstream of Seomjingang River is covered with plum blossoms. Seomjin Village, in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do – alias Maehwa (Plum Blossom) Village (매화마을) – has a vast wild field of more than 132,231m2 entirely covered with plum blossoms. 100,000 plum trees blossoming all together offer a magnificent view. North of the village is Hwagaejangteo marketplace (화개장터) and east of it is Pyeongsa-ri, the main setting for Park Gyeong-ri’s saga novel The Land. People gathering Jaecheop (clean water clams), below the farm in the mud flats of the Seomjingang River, offers a great view. The ‘Maehwa Festival’ or Plum Blossom Festival is held in Seomjin Village every March.
