Mokpo is a special zone for marine culture tourism. One of the main attractions is Yudalsan Mountain, on top of which one can get a panoramic view of the entire city of Mokpo. Hanguk Aengmusae Hakgyo, which literally translate to Korea Parrot School, is located in Pyeongchang and hosts a nightly parrot shows. Visitors can enjoy various performances staged by the parrots such as bicycle riding, rope climbing, and kissing. Mt. Eungbongsan (998.5m, 응봉산) in Uljin, Gyeongsangbuk-do is shaped like a hawk soaring into the sky. Therefore, it is also called, ‘Mt. Maebongsan.’ Even though it is not very tall, the terrain is steep and rough. This mountain has the only open-air spa in Korea, and because the hiking trail is only partially developed, it still retains its unspoiled beauty. But, due to the scenic landscape and hot spring, Mt. Eungbongsan has become more popular. It borders Mt. Tonggosan in the southwest, Deokgu Valley in the east and Gusugok Valley in the southeast. Geumsusan Mountain (altitude: 1,1015m) is located in Jeokseong-myeon, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do. The mountain is also known as Minyeobong (beauty peak) because the mountain range, when seen from afar, is said to resemble a beautiful woman lying on her side. The mountain was originally called Baegamsan, but the noted Joseon-period scholar Yi Hwang (pen name, Toegye) renamed the mountain Geumsusan (silk embroidery mountain) when he was the chief governor of Danyang County, saying its graceful features matched the fineness of silk embroidery. Geumsusan Mountain is considered as one of the “Eight Scenic Views of Danyang” with visitors flocking all year round to enjoy the scenic mountain landscapes carpeted with royal azalea blossoms in spring, greenery in summer, foliage in autumn, and snow in winter. In the vicinity is a seaside filming location of Korean historical dramas. The Geumsusan Mountain Gamgol Maple Festival is held in this area every October.

Originally, no name was given to this mountain on topographical maps. But in 1973, when the Empor Alpine Club reached the mountain during a hike across the nation, the club members named it after Jin Yu-myeong, a member of the expedition. On old maps, the mountain had been called Mayusan Mountain because of the horses raised in the area, but today it is more widely known as Yumyeongsan Mountain. The trail that starts from Yangpyeong leads to an expansive and open grassland. The hiking trails are also connected to those of Mount Daebusan and Mount Sogunisan. On the summit, there is a pile of stones, and the view from the top is splendid.

Taebaek Highland Natural Recreational Forest is located in 700m above the sea level. Being in the highland, visitors can enjoy snowy landscape in winter, cool and breezy stay in summer, and a peaceful walk with clean and refreshing air in spring and autumn.

Sunmot Ecological Park is home to the famous Sunmot Pond, which is associated with the legend of Dongbangsak and Grandmother Mago. The pond provides a beautiful resting space in the heart of Ulsan.

Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park (한려해상국립공원) is a national sea park that encompasses the most beautiful stretch of Korea’s south coast, covering parts of Sacheon, Geoje, Tongyeong, Hadong and Namhae of Gyeongnam Province and Yeosu of Jeonnam Province. Its 510,323㎢-wide area covers Dadohae Islets, Bijindo Island and Haegeumgang. The Donam Complex in Tongyeong is being continually developed as a world-class marine tourist attraction. The sea-view of the Namehae section of Hallyeohaesang National Marine Park is particularly breathtaking. Here visitors will be captivated by the view of Sejondo Island, the Pipe Organ Valley and Ssangyonggul Cave. Sangju Beach, at two kilometer-long and 150 meter-wide, is the biggest beach on the south coast and is covered with silver-white sand. The pine forest carpeting the surrounding environment also offers visitors a refreshing atmosphere. Located nearby is 681-meter-high Mt. Geumsan, making the beach a place where vacationers can appreciate both the sea and the mountain at the same time. Other attractions available in this area are the 38 Attractions of Mt. Geumsan, and Irak Shrine (Historic Site No.232) and Chungryeol Shrine (Historic Site No.233) dedicated to the great Admiral Sunsin Yi.
