Cheongsong Eoreumgol Valley

Cheongsong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province is very famous for its high-quality water. Cheongsong Eoreumgol Valley sits at Okgye Valley in Yeongdeok, Cheongsong-gun County. In this mysterious valley, water freezes during the peak of summer and melts when the temperature falls below 32 degrees Celsius. The most shocking thing though, is that the higher the temperature gets, the thicker the ice! Many people visit here during the summer to taste the cool water or to take in the picturesque views of the surrounding rock formations and the nearby temple. There is also a cliff named Wonja Rock right below the ice valley, which provides a retreat from the heat and gives visitors a beautiful view of the 62 meter-high artifical waterfall. During the wintertime, the waterfall is frozen and many people come to climb the ice wall or participate in the annual Ice Wall Climbing Competition. Even if you're not into sports, the shining wall of frozen water makes for a beautiful site and is a wintertime favorite among the nation's photographers.

Misari Motorboat Racing Park

Misari Motorboat Racing Park on the Hangang River can be seen near Paldangdaegyo Bridge. The park is becoming a popular place to bring a date, as there are many fine restaurants, and cafes that offer live performances. The park once served as the hosting ground for boat and canoe races during the 1988 Seoul Olympics. The large park boasts a lake with surrounding bike trails and hiking paths. The park’s greenery, various sports and leisure facilities, and great atmosphere make it a great place for activities or relaxation.The park houses the following facilities: soccer field, foot volleyball field, jogging course, walking path, bicycle path, drinking fountain, children's nature education site, snack bar, etc.The park was open to the public free of charge in May 1995, widely used as a venue for reunions or weddings, school excursions, picnic, outdoor activities, sports festivals, club functions, as well as a filming location. Conveniently located near Olympic-daero and Jungbu expressways, the park is very accessible and also has a large parking lot. 

Gongju National Museum

Gongju National Museum manages and preserves the cultural treasures excavated from northern Chungcheongnam-do. It takes special care of cultural treasures discovered at the Muryeong Royal Tomb in 1971. The Muryeong Royal Tomb is the tomb of King Muryeong (501-523) from the Baekje Period, and his queen consort. You can view most of the relics from the tomb at the museum. The current buildings were specifically built to exhibit these relics. Gongju Museum has excavated many other relics and sites. he exhibit hall constitutes of 2 parts. It exhibits over 1000 relics, including National Treasure No.19 and No.4. The first room of the 2nd floor displays the relics from the Muryeong tomb. It is quite a treat to view the golden belt, bracelet and bronze mirrors. There is even a full-scale model of the Muryeong tomb for you to view.The 2nd room of the first floor displays the relics from the Chungcheongnam-do area chronologically. Outside, in front of the main building, is a garden you can visit after viewing the inside of the museum, and you can see many relics which were excavated from the entire Gongju district. An eye-catching sight is the two large stone bowls, used long ago to store water. Between the relics, there are dozens of golden pine, pine and cherry trees, which are over 70 years old. It is an ideal place for visitors to rest. If you are looking for souvenirs, there is a souvenir shop where you will find many cute souvenirs.

Set 1400 years ago, the drama, ‘Seodongyo’, showcases the love between the king of the Baekje Dynasty and the princess of the Silla Kingdom. It was filmed in Chungnam Buyeo-gu at the Seodongyo Theme Park. The theme park offers a variety of highlights such as the royal residences of Baekje and Silla, the place where the nobles held their banquets, the commoners’ village, and the village of the nobles. This environmentally-friendly park boasts a splendid natural landscape with over 65 different species of trees (sheepberry, willow, boxwood, cherry blossom trees, etc.) and an abundance of flowers (golden reed, hosta, water canna, irises, etc.). The park is open to the public and is a favorite retreat for residents of the area.

Dobongsan Mountain

Dobongsan Mountain, located northeast of Bukhansan National Park, is known for the magnificent rock formations of the Manjangbong, Seoninbong, Jubong, Obong and Uiam Peaks.
