Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Maengbang Beach is the ideal place for families because of its shallow waters (about 1-1.5m) and various facilities nearby. Visitors can enjoy strolling along the 4-kilometer stretch of beach or in the dense forest nearby. Many events are held during the summer season, including a race along the beach, trout and flounder catching contests, and a clam catching contest. Gangwon-do(Jeongseon-gun)

At the foot of Hambaeksan Mountain where was the main producing place of anthracite, Samtan Art Mine transformed an abandoned mine which is unique and special point of the place, into a cultural art complex. The name of ‘Samtan’ refers to Samcheok Tanjwa, one of major coal mines in Korea, and ‘Art Min’ refers to ‘Coal mine’ in English and has meaning that of a mining coal turning into cultural art space. Throughout the nation, many cultural art places are located but Samtan Art Mine attracts visitors for being an actual mine site, which was closed in October 2001 after its first opening in 1964 when it was developed as a industrial establishment. Likewise, it is meaningful that the mine site became an artistic site despite its historically poignant history.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Goseong-gun)

Hyundai Heavy Industries (현대중공업) started its shipbuilding industry in 1972 and developed into one of the greatest shipbuilding companies in the world. With its growing technology, Hyundai Heavy Industries contributes in national economic growth and has become as one of world’s greatest complex corporations by advancing in numerous industries such as marine, plant, machine, electrical machinery and appliance, and construction equipment business.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Changnyeong-gun)

The hot springs have been called Bugok (the hanja characters 釜谷 refer to “cauldron” and “valley” respectively) because the land resembles the shape of a cauldron. When the spring was first discovered, people with skin ailments came in crowds because of the water’s healing properties. The sulfur and minerals in the water are effective for respiratory and skin ailments. Today, the hot springs attract 10,000~20,000 visitors a day, adding up to about 4 million people a year. Discovered in 1973, the hot springs have a 6,000-ton daily water supply flowing from underground at a temperature as high as 78℃. Bugok was officially designated a national tourist resort in 1977. Twenty years later, it was promoted to a Special Tourist Zone. Composed of 24 hot springs, the complex has hotels, condominiums, a golf course, and a fountain that shoots up hot water. The resort Bugok Hawaii has a variety of amenities including outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a theater, and saunas, making it a popular destination for newlyweds and families. The Bugok Hot Springs Festival, also called Onjeongje, is held from October to December every year to promote the area. The festival offers various activities such as a boiled egg eating contest (eggs boiled using water from the hot spring), foot baths, Pungmulnori (Korean folk music tradition) and other performances. Nearby attractions include Hwawangsan Mountain and the Upo Wetlands. Chungcheongbuk-do(Cheongju-si)

Daecheong Dam (대청댐) is a multi-purpose dam consisting of a 72m-tall and 495m-long concrete gravity dam and rockfill dam. It is located where Daejeon and Chungcheongbuk-do meet. The observatory, located at Palgakjeong Service Area, offers a great view of Daecheongho Lake (대청호). A variety of fascinating items are displayed in the Water Culture Center (물문화관) on the left bank of Daecheong Dam. A nearby grassy meadow promises a relaxing and comfortable rest, while local delicacies such as freshwater fish stew and marinated grilled eel are a delight to taste.


Gyeongsangnam-do(Namhae-gun)

Sinbulsan Mountain (1,209 meters) was designated as a county park, which includes the neighboring Ganwolsan Mountain, by the county of Ulju-gun on November 3, 1983. These mountains stretch around the village of Eonyang and form cliffs on the east with oddly-shaped rocks rising from them. The scenery is beautiful throughout all four seasons and the majestic mountain looks like it is reaching toward the sky high above the clouds. Thus it is often referred to as the Yeongnam Alps. Near the peak of Sinbulsan sits a fortress with breathtaking views of silver grass. It is called Danjiseong or Danjoseong because it is shaped like a jar. Below Wangbong Peak is Hongnyu Falls, which cascades down into Jakgwaecheon Stream. The Ganwolsaji Temple Site and the Ganwolsaji Seated Stone Buddha can be found inside Jakcheonjeong Pavilion.


Gangwon-do(Chuncheon-si)

Elysian Gangchon Country Club opened the Lake and Hill Courses (18 holes) on April 1st, 1997 and subsequently the Valley Course in early September of the same year, becoming one of the most prestigious country clubs in the mid region of the nation. With a highly sophisticated maintenance system of the greens, apron, and teeing grounds, and with the use of special imported grass which is ever green throughout the year, one may enjoy golfing year round.


Daegu(Dong-gu)

The Museum of Natural Dye Arts is divided into two floors. Ahwon Gallery on the first floor showcases replicas of ancient dyeing tools and provides information on the natural dyeing process. The ‘relic hall’ on the second floor displays pieces of ancient artwork including fabric, clothes, pillows, blankets and accessories, all made using different methods such as dyeing, embroidery, quilting, knotting and sewing. Group visitors of 10 or more may try dyeing handkerchiefs, scarves, or t-shirts through the museum's hands-on experience programs.


Busan(Saha-gu)

An excellent place to see exhibitions and learn about and experience ecology, the Nakdong Estuary Eco-Center is located in Saha-gu, Busan. The center consists of three floors with the first floor home to an information office, a maintenance office, an educational room, and a volunteers’ room. The second floor is home to exhibition rooms, an experience zone, a small library, and an observatory. Audio-visual rooms are located on the third floor. The center runs a variety of experience programs so that visitors may explore the estuary, observe plants and insects, walk around tidal flats and reed beds, and make wooden sculptures. In addition, visitors can observe birds and compare the eggs and beaks of various birds. The center is open from 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is closed on Mondays and New Year’s Day. The Nakdong Estuary Eco-Center, in turn is full of excellent amenities: picnic grounds, a botanical garden, a hiking trail, an observatory, abundant resting spots, an outdoor learning center, and lush trees.  


Busan(Seo-gu)

Provisional Capital Memorial Hall was established to teach the meaning of Korean historical gloomy period by preserving and presenting the historical scenes of the provisional government during 6.25 Korean War. Also, visitors can be aware of Korean forefather’s spirits to overcome a national crisis, as well as wishes for unification and prosperity.
