Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gyeongju-si)

Tohamsan Mountain Natural Recreation Forest is home to various broad leaf and needle leaf trees, animals, and plants. It is close to Bulguksa Temple, Seokguram Cave, and other famous tourism sites that make the area a nice natural and resting area. Cabin House is a suitable camping site. Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongju-si)

Jukgyegugok Valley is the valley stretching from Baejeom-ri to Choamsa Temple. Joseon-era Confucian scholar Toegye Yi Hwang (1501-1570) was inspired by the scenery of the valley and the enchanting sound of the flowing water, so he came up with names for each of the nine sections of the valley and collectively called them Jukgyegugok (nine bamboo valleys). The valley presents a splendid sight indeed with crystal clear waters, lush forest, and white rocks. In summer, vacationers from around the country flock to Jukgyegugok Valley to cool off from the sweltering heat by dipping their feet in the refreshing waters of the valley. Famous tourist attractions near the valley include Sosuseowon Confucian Academy, Buseoksa Temple, and Eupnaeri Mural Tomb. * Choamsa Temple On the path that ascends from Jukgyegugok Valley, there is a small temple located at the foot of Sobaeksan Mountain. The great monk Uisang Daesa of the Silla Kingdom reached this place during his search for an ideal site to build a Buddhist temple invoking national security. He set up a small thatched hut for a temporary stay until he found the most propitious spot, on which he built Buseoksa Temple. In the site where his thatched hut once stood, he built another temple and named it Choamsa Temple. The original structure was destroyed by fire during the Korean War (1950-1953). The temple has been restored to its present state by the Buddhist monk Lee Bo-won after years of arduous efforts.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Uljin-gun)

The 250 meter long Hupo Beach is situated right by Hupohang Port. The combination of an expansive sandy beach and indigo blue waters of the East Sea create a splendid view, drawing a large number of vacationers in the summer. Hupohang Port is the main receiving and distributing port for fish caught in the East Sea and in the early morning offers a great chance to not only see fish being hauled from boats to the fish market, but also to purchase fresh raw fish at an affordable price. In the hill north of the Hupo Beach stands the Hupo Lighthouse where one can get an open view of the East Sea and the Uljin area. Hupo Beach is one of the few beaches offering a splendid view of both the port and the lighthouse.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Gimcheon-si)

Gimcheon World Porcelain Museum (김천세계도자기박물관) is located at the entrance to Jikjisa Temple. Nearly 1,000 artifacts, including western porcelain and crystal donated by the Korean-Japanese Bokjeonyeongja (복전영자) are on display. You will encounter refined, elegant porcelain from all over the world including Wedgwood, Meissen, and Royal Copenhagen, as well as famous Korean porcelain.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Andong-si)

Known as a popular fishing spot and recreation site, Andongho Lake is an man-made lake created by obstructing the upper stream of the Nakdonggang River, as part of the government’s Four Major Rivers Restoration Project. Andong Dam is the second largest dam in Korea, following Soyanggang Dam. The x_height of the dam is 83 meters and the length is 612 meters. The landscape surrounding Andongho Lake is nothing short of magnificent. There is a dock for the boats on the lake, which is also popular as a fishing destination. Bass caught here are especially strong and tasty. An international bass fishing tournament is held here every year. There are also tourist attractions nearby, such as the Dosanseowon Confucian Academy and Andong Hahoe Folk Village. Andongho Lake is known for its incomparable scenery, and is considered one of the most famous tourist sites in the Hoban Region. The nearest tourist sites include Dosanseowon Confucian Academy, Seokbinggo (Stone Ice Storage). There are plenty of other sites to visit as well, such as Andong Folk Village and its museum, where the historical Korean drama "Taejo Wang Geon" was filmed. Unfortunately, during the construction of Andong Dam, part of the village was submerged due to displaced water. The folk cultural properties there were safely moved to a nearby area by the auxiliary dam of Andong and turned into an open-air museum of folk culture.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Bonghwa-gun)

The ‘V’ in V-Train stands for "valley," as it travels through the remote mountainous areas of Gangwon-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do. It is also referred to as the "Baby Baekho (white tiger) Train" due to the white tiger motif on the train's exterior as it runs through the Baekdudaegan mountain range. The train moves at the speed of 30km per hour, but excluding the Cheoram Route where train normally slows down to 27.7 km per hour, allowing passengers to have a time to enjoy the view outside. To provide clear views of the cliffs and valleys along the ride, a large portion of the train walls, excluding the ceiling, have been made into glass windows. Passengers can open and close the windows as they please to let in fresh mountain air.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Cheongsong-gun)

Jeolgol Valley in the southeast of Juwangsan Mountain isn’t special just for its pure and clear water flowing year-round. With amazing rock formations that tower high above like bamboo sprouts, and a dense forest all around, entering Jeolgol Valley is like entering another world. Upon entering the valley, the wind that buffeted the rock face outside becomes a refreshing breeze, keeping hikers cool even in high summer. The beauty of this 8km-long valley is second only to Juwang Valley. Located about 1km into the valley is Jusanji Pond. This reservoir is peculiar in the fact that there are many large, old willow trees growing out of the water, creating a mysterious atmosphere.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongju-si)

Yeongju Station is a railway station on Jungang Line, Yeongdong Line and Gyeongbuk Line.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Seongju-gun)

Pocheon Valley, located in Gacheon-myeon, Seongju-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is approximately 7 km long. This place used to be a learning place for scholars of Seongju in the old days. Eungwa Lee Wonjo, who was the civil minister during the late Joseon period and a great scholar of those days, used to live at the upper stream in Mangwijong Pavilion (만귀정). Mangwijong gives the valley a more outstanding atmosphere. Pocheon Valley is well-known for its crystal-clear waters flowing through the woods.


Gyeongsangbuk-do(Yeongju-si)

The 28-meter high Huibang Falls is a waterfall located below the Huibangsa Temple at Sobaeksan Mountain in Sucheol-ri, Punggi-eup, Yeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It is located 700 meters above sea level about halfway up Sobaeksan Mountain. It is one of the must-see attractions on Sobaeksan Mountain, and is the No.1 waterfall in the whole Yeongnam (southeastern part of Korea) area. The water from the falls comes from Yeonhwabong Peak (1383 m), one of the sacred peaks of Sobaeksan Mountain. The water flows along the Huibang Valley and then plunges into the rocks below with a big splash, creating a breathtaking view for visitors.
