Jeollanam-do(Naju-si)

Naju Station is a railway station on the Honam Line serving the Jeolla region. The station is located in Songwol-dong, Naju-si in South Jeolla Province. The old Naju Station located in Jungnim-dong was the starting point of the Gwangju Student Independence Movement in 1929 that began as a result of the conflicts between Korean and Japanese students who used to commute to Gwangju by train. This historically significant event had delayed the relocation of Naju Station. With the partial opening of the two-track Honam line on July 10, 2001, Naju Station was integrated with Yeongsanpo Station and moved to its current location in front of Naju City Hall. The facilities at the old Naju Station had been too old and the station building too small to sufficiently accommodate the number of passengers in the region, so it was the Yeongsanpo Station that used to cover the passenger demand. After the integration of the two stations, all regular trains on Honam Line, as well as some of the high-speed KTX trains stop at Naju Station.

The jjangttungeo (mudskipper) is only able to live in clean mud flats and they are found in this island easily. The name of the bridge comes from the image of many mudskippers jumping around the bridge. During low tide, the vast mud flat appears, as well as various mud organisms including mudskippers, crabs, clams and lug worms. When the tide is high, crossing this bridge will give the feeling of walking on water. The sight seen from the bridge is perfect for a date course, and after crossing the bridge, you will find yourself on Ujeon Beach, which offers a beautiful view of the setting sun.

Jeollanam-do(Hwasun-gun)

The Dinosaur Tracksite of Hwasun was discovered in 1999 during a land survery for the construction of Hwasun Hot Springs Area. Most dinosaur tracks found in Korea are located in coastal areas in cities like Haenam and Boseong, so the discovery in the inner region of Jeollanam-do was a first. Most prints here come from carnivorous dinaosaurs of the Cretaceous period. The site is famous for there being tracks from no fewer than five different dinosaurs, as well as for being one of the longest trails and most direct examples of the exact movements of the dinosaurs. The tracks of one dinosaur are the longest in the world, stretching for 40 meters. Based on the foot size of 20-22cm with a stride of approximately 90cm, it is estimated that the prints were formed by a 4-5 meter tall Koolasuchus. In addition to the canivorous dinosaurs, tracks were found of 12 herbivorous dinosaurs, as well as fossilized plants. These plants offer much assistance in the research of herbivorous dinosaur diets.

Jeollanam-do(Sinan-gun)

The building for Salt Gallery is the original stone-built salt storage in 1945, which remained intact. Previously a wooden storage for salt, it was later used as a warehouse for materials, and it is now transformed into a Salt Gallery after remodeling in 2007. The gallery was thought to a source of important historical data for salt farms since it remains the old scene from the past. Also, it offers a modern stone-built storage at this exhibition hall. The gallery exhibits everything about salt, from stories to anthropological aspects. In particular, the exhibition tries to break down the misunderstanding in which salt is thought to be the principal factor of diabetes and high blood pressure, and acknowledge the useful health benefits of salt by explaining the different types of salt uses. Beyond the general information on salt, the history behind salt is also explained. Also, daily lives of the people living in Taepyeong Salt Farm, the process of making salt and information about Hamcho (Salicornia herbacea salt) are also showcased in this gallery. - Modern Cultural Heritage No. 361 - Opening Date: July 14, 2007
