Jayu Park Incheon

Nestled in Mt. Eungbongsan in Incheon Metropolitan City, Jayu Park was first called Manguk Park and then Seo Park as the Japanese power became stronger. During the colonial rule of Japan, there was another park called Dong Park (East Park), which was created and used as a shrine by the Japanese.  Jayu Park, or park of Freedom, has held its name ever since October 3, 1957 when a statue of General McArthur, who led the Incheon Amphibious Landing Operation during the Korean War, was erected at the summit of Mt. Eungbongsan. The park offers spectacular views of downtown Incheon and its surrounding mountains, the port, and the sea. Seongmodo Island

Seongmodo Island (석모도) is located to the west of Ganghwado Island (강화도). Beautiful West Sea, a drive by the shore, and the great scenic view are some of the features of island's highlights. To get to Seongmodo Island, simply take a ferry at Oepo-ri, which takes only 10 minutes. The seagulls that congregate over the sea, fly close to the ferry boat and provide a beautiful sight.  When you arrive at Seongmodo Island, there is a bus terminal and a bicycle rental shop. If you are planning to hike around the island, rent a bicycle. You can tour around Seongmodo Island on a bicycle, by car, or simply by walking. If you want to go to Bomunsa Temple or Minmeoru Beach, ride the bus bound for Bomunsa Temple. If you want to hike or drive, you can visit most places by going along Ilju Road. It will take only 40 minutes by car, and about 2 hours and 30 minutes by bicycle to look around the island.  The most interesting sites in Seongmodo Island are Minmeoru Beach (민머루해수욕장) and Bomunsa Temple. Minmeoru Beach is the only beach in Seongmodo Island; Its shores are elegant and the surrounding scenery is beautiful with a salt farm near the beach. Bomunsa Temple boasts great views of the West Sea and is famous for its sunsets and a Buddhist grotto that was built inside a natural cave. The Munhak Sports Complex is situated in Michuhol-gu, Incheon. Its construction began in July 1994 and was completed by February 2002. Bomunsa Temple

Bomunsa Temple is located at Seokmodo Island, which is the west of Ganghwado Island. It is said that the temple was constructed by Queen Seondeok during the Silla Era (635).  Entering the temple, you will see a 600-year-old Chinese juniper tree. Behind the tree is Seokgulamja, a small Buddhist temple in a natural cave. The entrance of the grotto is small, but the room inside is large. There is a huge millstone that the monks used for cooking beside Seokgulamja. It Is designated as Cultural Monument. If you go back side of the temple, you can see the must-see attractions here; the *Ma-aeseokbuljwasang and the Nunseop (implies eyebrow in Korean) Rock. The 10m high Ma-aeseokbuljwasang is engraved on the rock that looks like an eyebrow. The view of West Sea from Bomunsa Temple is beautiful.  The West Sea and sandy beaches of Seokmodo Island in which Bomunsa Temple is situated were featured in many films. The Incheon International Airport Traditional Culture Workshops are exhibition areas where traditional Korean culture experiential programs have been prepared for people awaiting flights departing from Korea, or for travelers waiting for connecting flights. Currently, there are two programs available in the exhibition areas, made available for all travelers using the third floor departure area.  Participants will be able to learn how to make jewelry boxes out of hanji (traditional Korean paper) or make cell phone straps using traditional sewing techniques that were used to make clothing and accessories. Even if you lack the skilled hands needed for these crafts, anyone can follow the simple instructions provided in English, Japanese, and Chinese, and have fun at the workshops. Aside from these programs, there are special programs that are prepared for visitors every 3 to 4 months, such as drawing traditional patterns, coloring traditional Korean fans, and making small purses by using traditional knotting techniques.  You can also take a look at the traditional arts and crafts that are put on display in the exhibition areas as well. There are two traditional culture workshops located at Incheon International Airport in both the east and west wings.  The traditional culture workshops and traditional craftworks exhibition are provided free of charge for all interested guests. The craftworks exhibition is located diagonally across from the fourth floor departure area convenience facility, and is open 24 hours a day. Also, if you visit between the hours of 10:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday, English guides will be available for your added convenience. At present, the exhibition is showcased under the theme of presenting over 70 arts and crafts, including traditional Korean ceramic ware, clothing, various accessories, and other traditional cultural arts made by skilled artisans. While the traditional culture of the first generation has been fully preserved, the area still harbors many of the flavors of China. Jajangmyeon Museum

Jajangmyeon (black soy bean noodles) is one of Korean's most beloved dishes, known to have originated from Chinatown in Seollin-dong, Jung-gu of Incheon. This birthplace of jajangmyeon also houses a special museum dedicated to the dish, introducing its history, progress in development, and the influence and value it effected on Korea. The museum took an empty brick building and restored it for the citizens, allowing visitors to trace the history of the community which is inevitably deeply connected. Baemikkumi Sculpture Park

Baemikkumi Sculpture Park rests on Modo Island, one of the nearest islets to Yeongjongdo Island where Incheon International Airport is located.The name 'baemikkumi' comes from the local dialect, as people say the island resembles the shape of a hole normally seen from the bottom of a ship as 'baemit' translates to the bilge, and 'kkumi' is most closely translated to mean 'a hole' in English.The entire island has now become a beautiful exhibition hall of art works thanks to sculptor Lee Il-ho, who originally started and donated his talents for visitors coming to the island. The art displayed on the island makes for an inspiring contrast to Seohae (west sea, or yellow sea) in the background.
