Petite Joong-Ang Family Museum

Petite Joong-Ang Family Museum is a family-owned museum that showcases the antiquities of Oriental medicine, as practiced by a local family for three generations or 90 years in the city of Yangnyeong known for its 350-year-old medicinal herb market. The tools used by the family including scales, medicine bowls, prescriptions and manuscripts of Oriental medicine tell the history of Oriental medicine in Korea as well as the family's dedication to treatment with Oriental medicine. The museum serves its visitors with healthy Oriental medicine tea, while the living family members offer free medical consultation.

Museum of Oriental Embroidery
Gangwon-do(Gangneung-si)

The Museum of Oriental Embroidery, opened January 11, 2011, exclusively displays the beautiful works crafted by women of the past. Over 500 pieces of Oriental embroidery from Korea, China and Japan are on display, and another 100 Western embroidery works are also displayed in a special exhibition hall. In this cultural space, one can discover the aesthetic world of Oriental embroidery.

National Maritime Museum
Jeollanam-do(Mokpo-si)

The National Maritime Museum is the only domestic marine museum. Opened in 1994, it is a 2-story building with a B1 floor. There are 4 main exhibit halls and one special exhibit hall. At Exhibition 1, "Underwater Cultural Heritage from Wando," about 3,000 Goryeo ceramic relics excavated from just off the Eoduri sea, Wando district, and the Wooden ship of the Goryeo (918~1392) dynasty are exhibited. The Wando ship is a model of the original boat, half the size of the original ship. You can view the landscape around the old sea and learn about the world’s marine excavation history in this exhibition hall. At Exhibition 2, “Underwater Cultural Heritage from Sinan," you can view 22,000 pieces of 14th century Chinese ships, crockery and golden-ware. At Exhibition 3, "The Life of a Korean Fishing Village," you can learn about the traditional fishing techniques and tools, and you can view the living conditions of those times. It is interesting to compare the fishing methods of today to the past. And at Exhibition 4, "Korean Traditional Boats," you can see the development of Korean shipping and shipbuilding. There are many models displayed, from the ships of the Goryeo dynasty to the oilers of today. The rabbit and turtle shaped ships are quite eye-catching. When you have finished touring all the exhibit halls, take a stroll down the lounge to the souvenir shop to relax. On clear warm days, it is soothing to sit in the lounge under the warm sun. The sunshine coming through the window is brilliant. After a break, you can go outside to the outdoor exhibit, and enjoy seeing more traditional ships. Biryong Falls
Gangwon-do(Sokcho-si)

The falling water of the loud and magnificent Biryong Fall looks very much like dragons flying up towards the sky, which is why it was named Biryong (flying dragon) Falls.There is a relatively wide path leading to Biryong Waterfall, through a bamboo forest, making it a very nice place to hike. From Biryonggyo Bridge, which is located in the lower reaches of Cheonbuldong Valley, called Ssangcheon, walk past it for about 30 minutes to the left, and you will see the Yukdam Falls, made up of six waterfalls and a deep pond. Roughly 300 m past this area, you can see the Biryong Falls between the narrow and rugged ravine.Also, if you follow the Towanggol, up a steep, rocky path, there is a huge, three-tiered waterfall called Towangseong Falls. However, due to the extremely dangerous path leading to it, it is barred to the public.

National Institute of Biological Resources

Opened in October 2007, National Institute of Biological Resources has the largest collection preservation facilities in Asia. The institute collects, preserves, manages, and conducts research on biological resources with the aim of growing into a biological resource hub of North East Asia.The institute is comprised of the spine-shaped collections and research centers and the leaf-shaped exhibition and education centers. The exhibition hall has 3,905 specimens of 1,287 native species on display. Korea's diverse ecosystems are recreated as highly detailed dioramas at the exhibition hall. A small restaurant is located inside the research center, and the extensive grass field in front of the institute provides an ideal picnic spot.

Jeonju World Cup Stadium

The Jeonju World Cup Stadium was built just before the 2002 FIFA World Cup games. Its unique design comes from the Korean traditional fan, known as Hapjukseon in Korean. This fan (as seen in the picture below) represents the beauty of traditional Korean design. The stadium grounds cover an area of 562,929 m2, with 1 above ground level and 6 underground levels. This structure seats up to 42,477 people. The design of the stadium gives visitors a dramatic feeling as the rows of the stadium seems to blend effortlessly into the field.

Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum

Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum founded by Son Seongmok is the largest gramophone museum in the world. It has a collection of 4,500 phonographs, 150,000 phonograph records, 1,000 books, and 5,000 items from 20 nations.1) World of Sound: The place for history of Sound. It displays gothic and renaissance organs, music boxes, radios and record players.2) World of Image: The place for silent films and biography films of masterminds and Edison. It displays Edison projectors and televisions, especially one made by Baird, John Logie (1888.8.13 ~ 1946.6.14) in 1925.3) World of Light: Displays items from Gas lamps to the original light bulb that Edison made, an electric generator of those days, the bamboo filament light bulb and the first wall-attached electric lamp. The wall-attached electric lamp is the part of the collection that was successfully accepted at Sotheby's auction in 1992.4) Edison Invention Hall: Displays 850 inventions of Edison's, including t three of his greatest inventions - phonographs, light bulbs and projectors.
