Lee Hyo-seok Culture Village
Gangwon-do(Pyeongchang-gun)

The Lee Hyo-Seok Culture Village is the place where the author Lee Hyo-Seok (penname “Gasan”) was born and raised. The village is also the setting of the author’s story "When the Buckwheat Blossoms,” one of the most celebrated Korean short stories to date. In 1990, the village place was designated ‘the first national cultural village,’ by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The village is comprised of the author's birth house, a water mill, Chungjujip, Gasan Park, Lee Hyo-Seok Memorial Hall, and the buckwheat museum. At the x_height of the blossoming season, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of snowy-white fields of buckwheat flowers and from late August to early September, the annual Lee Hyo-Seok Cultural Festival takes place. The Lee Hyo-Seok Cultural Festival commemorates the modern Korean writer and features buckwheat-themed programs. Events include a Hyo-seok essay contest, traditional performances, a costume parade, a photo contest, and "When the Buckwheat Blossoms" films and performances. During the festival, visitors can enjoy makguksu (buckwheat noodles) and buchim (buckwheat pancakes) and tour the locations that appear in the famous short story.

Jungmun Golf Club

Jungmun Golf Club is located along the seaside cliffs and has 18 holes, featuring a golf and country club set up in the area of the coastal course. It is open all year long. Picturesque scenery and various tourism facilities at the golf club are available as well.* Features- Korean sole coastal course, embracing the valley as well as breathtaking views- The course is filled with the western grass and a peaceful atmosphere- Jeju-grown foliage and subtropical plants- The longest course distance in Korean (B.T. 6,820m)- In order to allow more opportunity for foreign tourists to use the club, a non-membership service is offered even though the golf club is for registered members only.- Tee-up on in-course and out-course at once- Reservations must be kept (available one month before date of golf round) and are available for foreign visitors.- Holes 8 and 11 have an optical illusion (uphill and downhill are reversed)

Mureung Valley
Gangwon-do(Donghae-si)

Mureung Valley, which spans from Dutasan Mountain and Cheongoksan Mountain, refers to a four-kilometer stretch from Hoamso Pond – where, according to legend, a tiger drowned to death – to Yongchu Falls, located upstream.The waters of Mureung Valley flow over wide sheets of rock and into the cracks between them, forming a large and particularly nice pond along the path. Starting at Mureung Rock, a wide sheet of single rock on which hundreds can sit, the valley twists and turns around Samhwasa Temple, Haksodae Falls, Okryudong, and Seonnyeotang Ravine, all the way to Ssangpok and Yongchu Falls, providing breathtaking scenery along the way. Also known as Arcadia, scholars and poets frequented the valley in times past, and the 5,000 squar meters of Mureung Rock bears the inscribed names of some of these poets and their work. The valley offers a medley of curious-looking rocks and stones, and other odd scenery that attracts many tourists.

Dream Forest Art Center

Namhansanseong Provincial Park [UNESCO World Heritage]

Namhansanseong Provincial Park is a very popular mountain-climbing and driving destination located just outside Seoul. The mountain is famous for being very beautiful all throughout the year. In the spring, the acacia trees grow thick, in the summer the green forest covers the entire mountain, and in the fall, many people visit to climb the mountain covered in red autumn leaves.Namhansanseong Fortress (남한산성), located on Namhansan Mountain, was originally built as a earthen fortress during Gogureyo period, about 2,000 years ago, but after many renovations, Gwanghaegun of the Joseon Period built the fortress properly in 1621. If you climb to the highest peak Iljangsan, you can see Incheon’s Nakjo area, and not only Seoul, but the surrounding Gyeonggi-do area as well. In terms of fortress structure, because the surrounding mountain area is high and rough, and the fortress center level and low, it is an easy place to defend, and to reside comfortably, two prime conditions for a mountain fortress.

Biyangdo Island

Biyangdo Island can be seen directly from Hyeopjae Beach, which is located northwest of Hanrim Port. The word Biyang means to fly over, and indeed, legend has it that Biyangdo Island actually flew over from China more than 1000 years ago. The tiny island, accompanied by Hallim Park, Hyeopjae Beach, and Hallim Port, create a truly picturesque landscape. At the peak in the middle of the island are two craters that form a basin, which is home to a colony of Villbrunea frutescens, the only natural colony in Korea. The island is also home to over 80 fish and various marine plants.Biyangdo Island is a popular destination for both summer fishing and as a place for a light hike. Although Biyang Peak is not high (only 114m above sea level) it still offers visitors an opportunity to overlook the breathtaking landscape from Mt. Halla to various volcanic mountains (called Oreum in Jeju dialect), dazzling coastal lines, and the glittering waters of Hyeopjae Beach. There are a small number of houses scattered around a quay at the foot of Biyang Peak, as well as an old unmanned lighthouse, adding flavor to the island.Visitors can get to the island by passenger boat departing from Hallim Port and operating two times a day at 9:00 a.m. and 15:00 p.m. Please note, however that during holidays and weekends, it operates only once a day, at noon. Bears Town Ski Resort

Bears Town Resort lies on the outskirts of Seoul. The ski slopes of this large leisure resort have been officially approved by the International Ski Federation. Bears Town Resort is a great destination for beginners; ski lessons are available, there are broad beginner slopes, and the comprehensive rental system allows you to rent all the equipment you need. Those skiers who are more experienced, however, will be able to enjoy the FIS approved 88 Challenger Slope. Bears Town Resort has a total of ten ski slopes and eight ski lifts, which can transport up to 15,200 skiers per hour. Saeseom Island Saeyeongyo Bridge

Saeyeongyo Bridge is the longest pedestrian overpass created in the southern-most area of the country. The bridge, inspired by ‘Tewu’ (Jeju's traditional log boat), was opened in September 2009, and connects Seogwipo Port and Birds Island. The overpass is the first single cable-stayed bridge ever created in Korea. The bridge has a major tower inspired by the wind and a sail and flamboyant LED lights. With the creation of the bridge, it has become much easier for people to travel to Birds Island, which features the island's ecosystem designated as a warm temperate forest conservation zone. The island also has diverse convenience and leisure facilities such as a 1.2km walking path, a public square, wooden deck road, pebble road, forest walking path and theme photo zone.
