Oido Island

The Ecological Culture Exploration Site on Oido Island (오이도) in Siheung City is abundant in natural resources and historic relics dating back to the prehistoric era. Shell mounds are scatted across the island, the scale of the shell mounds is the largest along the west coast and they are the only relics that give any information about exchanges between Korea’s neolithic populations. They show evidence of exchanges between the northern and southern populations that inhabited the peninsula and continent, and how the coastal environment along the west coast changed during the Neolithic Age.

Chujeon Station
Gangwon-do(Taebaek-si)

Situated in Taebaek in Gangwon-do, Chujeon Station is Korea’s highest train station at 855m above sea level. Visitors must pass through Jeongamgul, the second longest railway tunnel in Korea to arrive at Chujeon Station. This quiet, isolated station has attracted many visitors since it started operating the Fantastic Snow Flower Train tour in December 1998.Lying between Gohan Station and Taebaek Station, Chujeon Station offers the best of romantic winter scenery. Your ticket price even includes your choice of craft experience program (topiaries, herb candles, herb soap, and more) and there’s even a Waterball and “Eco-adventure” area for more active visitors. The “Eco-adventure” was completed in 2008 and consists of ropes, zip-lines, a climbing wall, and other outdoor recreational sports facilities. Scale: Total land size: about 350,000 pyeong (40,000 pyeong developed land + 310,000 pyeong natural green space).

Maengbang Beach
Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Maengbang Beach is the ideal place for families because of its shallow waters (about 1-1.5m) and various facilities nearby. Visitors can enjoy strolling along the 4-kilometer stretch of beach or in the dense forest nearby. Many events are held during the summer season, including a race along the beach, trout and flounder catching contests, and a clam catching contest. The popular Korean movie, One Fine Spring Day was filmed here.

Cheokjudonghaebi & Daehanpyeongsutochanbi
Gangwon-do(Samcheok-si)

Cheokjudonghaebi Monument Erected by Heo Mok, the governor of Samcheok City during the second year of King Hyeonjeong's reign (1661), Cheokjudonghaebi Monument is 170㎝ tall. It was originally built to protect the village on Malli-do Island that had been frequently inundated by heavy rain and rough waves. It is believed that the mystical inscription, penned by Heo Mok, on the monument calmed the rough sea waves. Today, the monument stands to prove the wisdom and distinguished penmanship of the former Samcheok City Governor. Daehanpyeongsutochanbi Monument Daehanpyeongsutochan-bi Monument is 145㎝ tall. It was erected by Heo Mok's successor and former governor of Samcheok City Jung Un-cheol in reverence for his wise forebear. The monument contains 48 ancient Chinese characters that describe many achievements of Heo Mok's.

Andong Station

Andong Station sits on the Jungang Rail Line. Since it opened in October 15, 1930, all passenger trains that currently travel along both Yeongdong and Jungang Lines stop at this station. Andong Station has water tower that was installed in 1940, whose 12-sided shape is very unique, thus leading to its designation as no. 49 on the list of  Registered Cultural Properties of Korea. For those transferring to intercity buses, Andong Terminal is about 6 kilometers away, and can be accessed via city buses 0, 1, 2, and 11 from in front of Andong Station.

Saecheonnyeon Road

Saecheonnyeon Road in Gangwon-do Province is a 4.8㎞ road along the eastern coast of Korea. It features unique rock formations, a pine tree forest, and the Tower of Wishes, built with thousands of stones that have been engraved with names of over 30,000 people. Every New Year's Day, a sunrise festival takes place on the Road, and people pray their wishes upon the Tower.

Before the advent of disposable diapers, it was widely used for cloth diapers, demonstrating its remarkable softness and absorbency. At the Sochang Experience Hall, we offer the extraordinary opportunity to create your very own hand towel by using traditional stamping techniques. This hands-on activity is free of charge but highly popular, so reservations are recommended. Amidst the timeless elegance of a Hanok, constructed in 1938 and fondly known as the '1938 Hanok,' guests can immerse themselves in a unique tea experience. We primarily serve tea made from roasted turnip, a specialty of Ganghwa Island. Visitors are welcomed to unwind in our serene setting, savoring the rich and refreshing flavors of our turnip tea.   Our doors are open from 10 am to 6 pm, providing a welcoming haven for guests seeking a deeper understanding of Korea's textile heritage. However, please note that we are closed on Mondays. Reimagined in 2016, the Sochang Experience Hall is a beautiful blend of a Hanok built in 1938 and the former Pyeonghwa Textile mill, exuding charm and history in every corner.
