Jeollanam-do(Gwangyang-si)

Baegunsan Recreational Forest (백운산자연휴양림) has Baegunsan Mountain that rises 1,218ms high above the sea level as the highest peak in the forest. Its artificial and natural forests of large pine trees offer a great view as the trees stand in harmony. Visitors are awed to see the beautiful valleys in the forests of Japanese cedars and Japanese cypresses. In early spring (February – March) about 7,000 camellia flowers are in full blossom. Baegunsan Mountain (백운산) is the treasure house of Korea’s eco system. Plenty of rare plants and animals are growing there and the sap of gorosoe trees, which is believed to be good for health, is available in the spring. The Baegunsan Natural Recreation Forest is a truly blessed forest.  


Jeollanam-do(Yeongam-gun)

The historic Dogapsa Buddhist Temple is located within the Wolchulsan National Park and in 1984, was designated Provincial Cultural Property No. 79. At an elevation of 376m, the site offers spectacular views of the surrounding area, so impressive it carries the nickname ‘Sogeumgang River’, meaning “Small Geumgang River” of Jeollanamdo-Province. Founded by Buddhist Monk Doseon during the later years of the Silla Kingdom, the temple houses many historic and cultural treasures, most notable of which is Haetalmun Gate (gate of emancipation); designated as National Treasure No. 50 and one of few remaining original Korean structures. In addition, there are the Maaeyeoraejwasang (National Treasure No.144) and Seokjoyeoraejwasang (National Treasure No.89) sitting Buddha statues, the Mokjomunsu•Bohyeondongjasang (Treasure No. 1134), the Doseonsumibi (Jeollanam-do Tangible Cultural Property No.38) and the Daeungbojeon, or ‘main temple hall.’ An added bonus is the walkway lined with cherry trees leading to Dogapsa Temple. During the spring season, the 1km path offers a fabulous touch to the pristine surroundings. Nearby attractions are Wolchulsan National Park, Historical Site of Dr. Wangin, Yeongam Pottery Museum and Gurim Village.  


Jeollanam-do(Haenam-gun)

With excellent views of the unfolding blue ocean, Oceano Tourism Complex offers visitors a great relaxing opportunity by way of their varied facilities such as golf links zone, auto camping site zone, cultural arts zone, and marine world zone that are planned to be established. Particularly, Pine Beach Golf Site located inside the tourism complex is surrounded by the ocean, and is perfect for playing a round of golf toward the endless ocean. The course is regarded as Asia’s Pebble Beach which is a small coastal resort destination and home to famous golf courses in California.


Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

The Maritime & Fisheries Science Museum is situated in Musulmok Resort, a historical site where Admiral Yi Sun-Shin won an important battle over the Japanese during the Imjin War (1592-1598). The Resort is connected to many popular tourist destinations along South Coast, such as Hallyeosudo Marine National Park. The major facilities of the museum include aquariums, maritime and fishery exhibition halls, a maritime science exhibition hall, a marine life cultivating facility and AV facilities. A 3-D theater and marine natural history exhibition hall were recently opened to enhance the visitor experience. In the lobby, a statue of red seabream (a type of fish and the symbol of Jeollanam-do Province) welcomes visitors, who are then guided into the main aquarium area by sea turtles and red seabreams swimming in a wave-shaped aquarium installed along the wall.


Jeollanam-do(Yeosu-si)

The name of Heungguksa Temple means “if the country prospers, the temple does well.” The temple was established to pray for the country to flourish. Located on Yeongchwisan Mountain, Heunaguksa was founded by Bojo Guksa in 1195.Within the compound are other buildings including Wontongjeon, Palsangjeon and Daeungjeon (Main Hall). The temple’s main hall (Treasure 396) is open in its structure and equipped with Korean traditional doors. A Buddhist painting named Hubultaenghwa is designated as Treasure No. 578. At the entrance to the temple is a rainbow-shaped stone bridge called Honggyo Bridge (Treasure No. 563), which is widely known as a distinguished work of art.On Yeongchwisan Mountain, azaleas begin to bloom in early April and completely take over the mountain by the end of the month. Azalea blossoms create an extravagant view along the ridgeline of Yeongchwibong Peak (439m above sea level) and Jillyebong Peak (510m above sea level). During this period, the Mount Yeongchwisan Azalea Festival takes place.


Jeollanam-do(Yeongam-gun)

Gurim Village features a natural village, famous for its huge size and is home to various historical tales, persons and natural cultural tourism resources, making the village attractive to tourists.


Jeollanam-do(Jindo-gun)

Jindo Bridge is the only twin cable-stayed bridge in Korea. It measures 484m in length and 11.7m in x_width, and is located between Nokjin, Gunnae-myeon, Jindo-gun and Hakdong, Munnae-myeon, Haenam-gun on National Road No.18. The bridge has been a popular tourist attraction since its completion on Octover 18th, 1984. On December 15th, 2005, the second Jindo Bridge opened. Visitors can observe the breath-taking beauty of the sunset and evening views from the bridge while enjoying the fantastic nearby scenery. Uldolmok is also known as the location of Myeongnyang Daecheop, one of the three major naval battles won by Admiral Yi Sun-sin. Uldolmok, a passage to the West Sea, is a strait between Haenam and Jindo. The x_width of the strait is only 294m, which is similar to that of the Hangang River. The Jindo Bridge is the most accessible gateway to Jindo Island, a place with many local specialties and unique cultural arts.


Jeollanam-do(Suncheon-si)

Nagan Folk Recreation Forest is situated in Nakan-myeon, Suncheon, conveniently accessed by trains (two railway lines, Jeolla Line and Gyeongjeon Line) and two highways (Namhae Highway and Honam Highway). Just two kilometers from the historic Nagan Fortress Folk Village, Nagan Folk Recreation Forest boasts exquisite surroundings. Some famous attractions near the forest are Songgwangsa Temple, Seonamsa Temple, Juamho Lake, and Sangsaho Lake, offering opportunities to appreciate ancient temples and the glow of the setting sun over the lakes. Perhaps more famous nearby attractions, though, are the breathtaking rows of reeds at Suncheon Bay and Nagan Fortress Folk Village, the home of cultural festivals and events.Lying on a local highway between Suncheon and Naksan, this forest is surrounded by mountains and a river with a homely garden atmosphere. The two beautiful mountains, Geumjeonsan (667.9m) and Obongsan (591m) snuggly envelop Nagan Folk Recreation Forest. On rainy days, visitors can enjoy spectacular falls of water at Virgin Falls (Cheonyeo Pokpo in Korean) within the forest.Every year, Nagan Fortress Folk Village hosts Nakan Folk Culture Festival (a main festival held in Suncheon from end of April to early May) and Namdo Food Festival (October) while Yeosu, another nearby city, holds Azalea Festival and Turtle Ship Festival (from April to May) and Boseong, Boseong Green Tea Festival and Illimsan Royal Azalea Festival (May).
